The Reds slipped to five points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after losing a controversial match 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Londoners' winner had United seething and Ferguson blasted ref Martin Atkinson for two decisions - and claimed his squad are starting to lose faith with English referees.
The United boss is already on an FA improper conduct charge after claiming that Alan Wiley was "unfit" to ref a top match after the 2-2 Sunderland draw at home last month.
But last night he was right to be furious at Atkinson for awarding a foul against Darren Fletcher and then not spotting Didier Drogba's offence on Wes Brown from the resulting free- kick that led to a winner claimed by John Terry but later attributed to Nicolas Anelka amidst justified claims that Drogba, who was in an off-side position, clearly interfered with play.
Sick
"It is hard to take. It is sickening actually," blasted Ferguson.
"First of all Fletcher has won the ball clearly and Drogba has pulled Brown to the ground at the free-kick.
"The referee is in a terrible position. He cannot see anything. He has a Chelsea player standing in front of him and he doesn't move.
"It is really hard to take. I think the players have lost faith a wee bit in refereeing today.
"Darren clearly won the ball and Ashley Cole has jumped up in the air. Wes was fouled. But the referee couldn't see that from the position he was in."
The United boss believes the champions will now have the bit between their teeth for the rest of the campaign.
Criticised
"It is not an unassailable lead, that's for sure. This was a reminder of what a very good team we are. We have been criticised recently but that won't deter us now as we have a cause and we want to win the league."
Fletcher also believes he is suffering for Arsene Wenger's comments after the Arsenal match at Old Trafford in September when the Gunners' boss claimed one United player went around fouling and was getting away with it.
The Reds' midfielder wasn't publicly named by the Frenchman but nobody was left in any doubt to whom he was directing the accusations.
"It was clearly not a foul. I knew at the time and I have watched it again on the replay. I back-heeled the ball and Cole just jumps up in the air and the ref gives a foul," said Fletcher.
"I think we are starting to see Mr Wenger's comments starting to influence referees which is a shame really.
"Now we have to raise our game and ensure these decisions are not affecting the game."

I really think that we are starting to see a bit of a pattern in the refs behaviour here, im thinking we have the whole union of them against us!!!!!

I thought we don't like cheats in the beautiful game but allowing a team to get away with the underhanded approach and thus winning against people who are playing honestly. I know secretly FIFA like those drama but even with the introduction of the video review challenge there will still be drama. Justice delayed is justice denied.
The respect campaign won't work unless referee are given modern tool to execute flawless decisions. Respect must be earned to demanded...

He may have a point over the Ashley Cole foul and the free kick but how come he never used to complain about Ronaldo's diving and winning of penalties. He likes to laugh with the fourth official when things go his way. No praising for the officials then though.
The man closes his eyes when it suits him and the officials get left alone.
Fletcher felt a hand on his arm and acted out a foul, it was a clear attempt to make it look like he had been fouled in order to so stop the Chelsea goal. It was just like any player diving in the box to try and win a free kick, just this time it was the defender doing the diving. Don’t try and dress it up some other way in order to get into Ferguson’s good book’s.
Ferguson has got to learn to take things like a man and stop trying to make out his team are being victimised, just because they are not having all their own way.
United get a fare share of decisions that go their way. Ferguson needs to stop trying to swing things his way by bullying the officials.
That’s another reason why he is yet again right out of order and the MEN should know a lot better than to support this type of behaviour, behaviour that is intended to influence the officials. It's just like diving for a penalty but doing it on the touch line in order to make it look justifiable.
The ref. is in charge of the game not SAF, if he has an opinion it should be expressed out of the public eye and to the governing bodies. Funny how Ferguson likes to display his opinion in public as if his viewpoint must always be considered right. He has to accept that thing can go for you and against you. That's football and he's not the one man governing body we all have to obey or look to for the answers.

Nobody had heard of Diving in England that was invented by your own Francis 1 Lee Pen I know him well and he used ti joke about how he should have been an actor.
Ronaldo got hammered because he was just too good in Spain the refs do their job and he is no longer the subject of a hacking programme, like he was in England.

since then....the standard of refereeing in our games has been appalling, notably Clattenburg at home v the trotters, at anUSAfield (not that it would have made any difference there, as we were worse) and then yesterday! .....conspiracy theorists out there??...... ask Neil Armstrong ! ;)

I have seen some sensible Blues comment on this and agree that the referee was awful. The rest of you just haven't a clue about football if you think the decisions were fair. Even scousers on Match of the Day agree with Fergie and that says something! Yes bad decisions happen, you all seem to think Fergie is the only manager that gives out about it. He isn't. Many other managers and given out about it also but the media etc. don't care about it. When its Fergie, it's big news. The standard of refereeing the league is appalling. Referees should have to explain some decisions and come out and say they were wrong. Why should they be allowed to hide away from their mistakes and go out and referee a big game, or any game, the following week? If they say its impossible to spot these decisions then bring in TV ref's. If watching on TV you see the replay about 10 times before play resumes anyway.
I was pleased with the performance of the team. Not overly so, but it was an improvement.

You just have to accept it and get on with it other teams have to live with bad decisions all the time what makes Utd so special or SAF.
Good result for yesterday for Chelsea.
