Anyone who still questions Berbatov's value to United is deluded. He is a supremely talented footballer - and makes everyone around him look so much better.
after nervously sitting on the edga of my seat...its a relief to see van der sar making that crucial save to keep all 3 pts....again what i notice is the lack of proper marking by our defenders.rio must take command and use that to see "where"the opposition will be....its been a sore point for quite awhile now. good to see berbatov take charge, but owen messed up his shots,he has to score now and keep it going ,or forget about england all together, its in his own making.
Evra was not out jumped. He was held down by Taylors left hand on Evra's left shoulder. Evra 7.
Ryan Giggs..Living Legend.......................Where as Mr Berbatov is concerned..not every thing is 100mph for him, he may not be busy busy busy all the time...BUT FOR ME...He is a very Special Talent....(like Our Wazza tho, NEEDS TO SCORE A LITTLE BIT MORE, mind you)
Berbatov was very good again today
well done UNITED another three points in the bag
Berbatov was superb..yet again. The goals will come mark my words...Champions, top of the league!
Unfortunately our really creative and unpredictable players are only Giggs, Berbatov and Evra. Not enough for a team like ManUtd. More quality midfielders are needed.
I always believed in Berbatov and he was and will always be a differencemaker even without scoring 20+. He just makes the hole team better and he showed it today. How many passes does Owen need from Berba to score? This game showed, Owen is ''using'' the Bulgarian much better than Roony. Wazza must learn from Michael and if he does will score at least 5 to 10 goals more every season.
Valencia was also good, but I wish to see him playing like this against the big clubs/defenders. And Giggs, well comment isn't needed.
Joey,RemiMoses and Gilly spot on. Berbatov will be a great name in United history when he is done; AND he is a true, "committed" United player not some self-absorbed, "me first" prima donna who needs their hand held or head stroked several times a day. And we will see a lot more from Mr. Owen, He worked his socks off today; and just didn't get the breaks. On to Moscow and then to Scouseland!
vds 7 (rock solid) neville 6 (third choice in his position), ferdinand 8 (looked like himself again), evans 7 (should have scored, but solid performance), evra 7 (always performs), valencia 8 (his best match so far and my man of the match), carrick 6 (did ok), anderson 6 (also ok), giggs 8(i wanted him off for good a couple of years ago, better than ever), owen 6 (not a first choice), berbatov 7 (frustratingly lack of pace and strenght, but has a wonderful touch and great understanding). Where are Wes Brown, Mancheda, Rafael and King?
We've a problem in midfield. Most of the game passed Carrick by and while Anderson was outstanding up to about the 65-70 minute mark, it must be worrying for United the way his engine packs up after that. We needed a Fletcher or Hargreaves in there to get in about the physical Bolton players.
I thought all of the boys at the back did OK - just shows what a difference VDS makes to the confidence of those in front of him - and the front four all did well, with Berbatov deserving praise and Giggs out of this world yet again. But we almost paid for that soft centre.
It showed today how we lacked cutting edge infront of goal Owen was nothing short of useless in the the penalty area and Berbatov is still not scoring freely. Giggs again ran the game from all areas of the pitch and it was good to see Edwin back!! I also thought that the referee Clatenburg was all over the pitch compared to the recent performance i saw from Wiley! Anyway another 3 points and we top the league comfortably...
Mr Berbatov(outstanding today) seems to have realised & accepted that he had to change his game to MU style,,,he no longer seems to hold the ball until everyone else is marked up & releases passes far more quickly than he was doing last season. Only glaring mistake was when he tried to place the pass right to the feet of the players on the break-away in the last couple of minutes instead of in-front of them to run onto (he prefers the ball right to his feet rather than having to run onto it). Agree with the comment that Evra was held down for Bolton's goal, but why was Ferdinand in the right back position GN seemed to have lost his GPS.The difference that EVS makes to the defence is tremendous, hope that SAF can resolve that problem sooner rather then later. One more thing, If MU decided to put RG on the transfer market how much do you think he would be worth??? (for the get rid of Giggs critics)
Berbatov was excellent and is becoming a talismanic part of United's game. He is technically brilliant and his workrate has improved a lot. Giggs was great, Valencia played decent, and Jonny Evans is looking like one of the best prospects in British football. He's still only 21 - but so, so composed.
VDS - 7 good when needed
JOS - 6 did OK
Rio - 6 - looked good but the long balls and set pieces had United all a jitters at the end
Jonny Evans - 7 cool as a cucumber and so self assured
Valencia -7 promising growth in self belief
Carrick - 6 steady enough
Giggs - 8 brilliant once again
Berbatov - 9 fantastic in everything he did ... he has some of the most sublime touches of any player in world football and it's all finally starting to gel for United
Little Mickey Owen - 5- I hope he comes good but nothing went for him at all today. Maybe he's clutching at things a little too much. He certainly doesn't look like a player top defences (or even average ones) will fear.
Three points and a sigh of relief.
Berbatov played a stunning match, nobody should be able to criticise him now
The ways Jasskelainen throw himself all about keeping the scoreline down makes him an ideal goalie for Utd. How I wish Van der Sar could have done the same for the goal conceded.
Pok
Is Ancelloti doing a Scolari?
Even as SAF is doing a Berbatov!
Conclusion? Fergie to retire, never.
Fergi stupid decision of playing the old wounded players Gary N who was resposible for Bolton only goal due to his poor clearance, what a stupid old captain Fergi favourite son. To make things even worst Fergi added another old wounded player Scholes and the one and only worst player all season John Oshea.Wake up Fergi its time to buy three players to replace these below par players. As fans we are not impress with the sellection of these three players and the risk of loosing matches are very obvious.
I thought Berbatov was good but then again, he was good for most matches he played this season.
Berbatov is the man - what a player !
Berba was excellent, he may not look like he gives 100% but he does. He is strong on the ball and a safe option when knocked up front. The main thing about him is he takes all the kicks without moaning or rolling around, he just dusts himself down and looks for the next ball. Him and Owen could be a great partnership, two very clever players around the box.
shorty spot on mate it was indeed a foul on evra
van der saar 7 what a relief to have him back
gn 6
rio 7
evans 7
evra7
valencia 8
carrick 5

berbatov7
owen 6
Taylor v.Evra was a mis-match, so I would give him a deserved 7+. Certainly his performance was worth more than Carrick's 6-.
Laboured, lifeless, insipid: a truly disgraceful performance. Anyway, enough about the crowd...
The team. When was the last time we actually controlled a game at home? Let's face it, this season we've had Birmingham, Sunderland, Bolton all come to Old Trafford and dominate for significant periods. Not to mention Arsenal and City, which is slightly more acceptable. Actually, come to think of it, Wolfsburg and Wolves, too. Single goal victories, all of them, plus one late, undeserved draw.
I don't like the 4-4-2. We don't have the (midfield) players for it and it shows. Neither Carrick or Anderson can play as two. Neither has the athleticism and, certainly in Anderson's case, the positional sense. We're extremely vulnerable to teams that attack through the middle. Plus Giggs, being nearly 36, struggles to get up and down the wing.
I mean, compare yesterday's midfield four to the 'dream' quartet of Beckham, Keane, Scholes and Giggs. One, the 90s boys were all young and athletic. Becks and Giggs worked so hard they were like defensive wing-backs and attacking wingers all in one. As for Keane and Scholes versus Carrick and Anderson. No contest.
Regrettably, I think we should go 4-3-3 and stick poor Waz out wide again. Play a midfield three with Super Fletch plus one of Carrick/Scholes and Giggs/Anderson. Energy plus passer plus runner. Much better.
Up front, I'd like Rooney, Berb and Nani (with plenty of switching). Sadly, it seems Fergie's finished with Nani. Valencia jets in late from Chile and still gets the nod.
I mean, why are we playing 'sling the crosses in' wingers anyway? Who are they crossing to? The only person regularly in the box yesterday was misfiring little Mickey. It's not like Carrick's going to ghost in late and nut one in, now is it?
In the 90s 4-4-2, we used to flood the box with runners. Typical goal, Scholes sprayed wide to Beckham, Beckham one touch control and cross, Yorkie nuts it in. In aesthetic terms, not exactly Barcelona, but quality attacking football of devastating simplicity. Plus we had attacking players who were genuinely good in the air, like Yorkie, Sheringham, Scholes. Even Keane and Giggs were decent.
Once everyone's fit, I'd like to see a 4-3-3 with VDS; RdS, RF, NV, PE; DF, MC, RG; Nani, DB, WR. Lay off the pointless crosses, keep it on the deck and work the opposition with passing, interchanging and movement.
Where are all the muppets who refer to the WORLD CLASS Berbatov as "Berbaflop" now? Gone crawling back under their rock thats where.
On the match i thought Berbatov, Giggs, Valencia were absoulutely brilliant. All 3 were a 9/10 for me.Anderson was brilliant in the middle.completely bossed that area for 80 mins.8/10.Carrick played quite well overall.Starting to play himself back into form.6/10.Ferdinand was brilliant.Calm and composed.7/10.Evans.What a player hes going to be.Cant belive hes still only 21.Should have scored though.8/10.Evra was great once again.7/10.Van Der Sar just breeds confidence to the back line and so glad hes back.6/10Neville was at fault for their goal by not clearing his lines but overall a steady game.6/10 Owen also played well overall. His header turned out to be an assist and the through ball to Valencia in the second half was brilliant. The brilliant Jaaskelinen saved it.Very good contribution.6/10.
3 massive points, top of the League, job done.
