Anderson

ANDERSON crowned a rare outing for United reserves with a cracking goal to help the Reds to come from behind to beat neighbours Wigan at Moss Lane, Altrincham.

The Brazilian international raced into the Wigan area, in the 38th minute, before unleashing an unstoppable shot past keeper Lee Nicholls and then made a bee-line to the touchline where he was he was congratulated by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Tomasz Cywka had given Wigan the lead from the penalty spot, in the 17th minute, after he had been fouled by Cameron Stewart.

The Reds went in front, three minutes after the break, when substitute Josh King crossed for Magnus Eikrem to score from close range.

Both King and Wigan’s Callum McManaman saw shots strike the woodwork during a rip-roaring second half.

United club captain Gary Neville was also given a run-out in the game, but it was fellow defender James Chester who wore the arm-band.

UNITED:Amos, Fabio, Dudgeon, James, Chester, Neville, Stewart (King 46),Anderson, Brandy (Gill 88), Eikrem (Norwood 72), Hewson.

Sub not used: Wootton, Devlin.

another great report from the MEN!
no mention of the kicking handed out to the Utd lads by an over physical Wigan team.

I mean McManaman should have been sent off for his first challenge and yet was not even booked!

overall I thought our lads did well and Anderson looked back to his best.

There have been many rumours about Anderson lately but there was nothing wrong with his committment passion and endeavour last night. And please don't mention the shop window, the shutters are down till January. I was surprised to see him playing as I thought he'd gone off to Brazil. He certainly looked up for it. Very impressed with Brandy, Eikrem, Chester and Hewson too. Good game.

Anderson and Fabio were a class above the rest of the players on the pitch. Good to see Anderson last for the full 90 minutes (and score a cracking goal!) even if he was strolling around a bit in the second half. I fancy he will start against Spurs.

Brilliant goal it was to.Glad hes not on International duty though as he will be completely fresh for the Spurs game as will Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, Fabio, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs & Owen.All will be fresh for this game which is great news for us.Can see the team to play Spurs being...

As mentioned previously Eikrem was impressive but also Josh King was outstanding. Watching the accedemy last weekend he ran himself into the ground but his effective cameo last night was very impressive also.

Don't know whether it was MUTV's pictures but Anderson actually looked a bit slimmer. Decent performance and he looked motivated. A couple of sloppy passes and a couple of wild shots, as per normal but he scored, made things happen and that can only help.

Anybody who watches the resrves on a regular basis knows Ole should be in charge of the first team, and Neville should stay in the resrves and get joined by scholes Giggs VDS the donkey and Fergie.

Fergie if anderson is going to be the player we know he can be then hes got to be given a regular starting role in the position that brings the best out of him,attacking central midfielder getting into the final third making things happen with his passing, ability to beat players, skill,vision,hes athletic timed runs from midfield to get on the end of things he needs to be told to go for goal more set him a scoring target for the season,i'm not liking the chances of this happenning as i don't see fergie picking him regular in his best position

Goodness me Anderson has found the net from open play.This needs carrying on into the first team.My view on Anderson is he can be marvellous but needs to be determined to play his best in EVERY game."Stamp your mark on it lad." A spat with SAF can be a good thing.Ole has perhaps told him what to do when he sees the whites of the keepers eyes.Just like hunting a tiger stay calm and pull the trigger!

Not sure why he has found himself in the reserves but maybe Fergie thinks he needs re-motivating. No question that Anderson has got what it takes to be a first team regular, but it seems Fergie is reluctant to trust in him in a midfield two and when he has it has bizarrely been with Scholes, which is a terrible combo. I'm actually racking my brain to think when he has ever been paired in a two with Fletcher, as in theory it would seem that these two could forge a good partnership.

Also anyone know if there is any truth in the rumour that Possebon's loan has been cancelled by Braga?

Anderson outstanding and clearly is head and shoulders above any other midfielder for his pace and vision. Fergy give him a run of games and he will show you how good he is, but when he is taken off or just does not start games or get enough if has an effect on him.
King another one that hopefully can make the grade as said before big strong two good feet and I believe he can be better than either Macheda or Welbeck he has the ability to control the ball straight away where the others seem to let it bounce of the before doing anything.
Agree with the comments about the physical side which went unpunished by the ref but hopefully it will help the players because what was good about it was the lack of retaliation under such play.
Also must comment on the Wigan Keeper who had a fantastic game keeping the score from becoming a cricket match.

Dog Hardy i dont really care if he scored i was more impressed with his performance, how many £17mill Brazilians do you know that would play for the reserves with the energy he did.

Of course its a bonus he did score but its good to see he is working hard to get back into the 1st team. And while it doesnt take much to please some, by expecting the finished article at 21/22 years old playing in a different country that most south americans struggle in it looks like you maybe too hard to please?

Lord Ruud, he needs the games. He hasn't had many appearances and in two matches he was to come on as sub but we had to sub others instead. So I don't necessarily agree that it's a punishment, otherwise we'd have heard about what Neville and Fabio had done wrong!

On Anderson and Scholes, I've always said that they've been scrambling for the same space and fighting off the attentions of Rooney too. They'd be even worse in the middle in a 4-4-2 than they were last year in my opinion.

Engineer, that's not the first time I've heard people praise Anderson's pace but I'm not so sure he is pacy. He has quick feet and quick acceleration over the first few paces but I don't seee him as a speedster over longer distances. He's not a slowcoach but I wouldn't have thought he'd be in the top 8-10 in the squad over a 40 metre sprint.

I think the thing with Anderson is the problem he has with lasting the full game. It's a puzzle to me. Hopefully it's not that he's not looking after himself properly.

On King, I think he'd be competing with Macheda for the central role. I see Welbeck as being more a creative second striker or playing in a two or three behind the striker. King's going to be good though. He needs to work on his first touch and as with all youngsters decision making will improve when he plays more and at a higher level. Very good prospect to go along with the other dozen very good prospects.

dog hardy, Anderson didn't make his price tag. Porto quoted and United gladly paid. And name one player who was ever the finished product at 21 years-old. Anderson is by far our most talented central midfield player. He just needs to develop. SAF sent him to the reserves so that OGS could mentor him and develop a rapport. Anderson will learn work ethic and professionalism from Ole. He also needs match time so this was a must for Anderson (should have started versus Arsenal in my opinion). Anderson and Fabio are way better than the reserve level. That's apparent in these games. That's just wasted young talent. Let's keep them in the first team and let's get them some in-game experience. In my opinion, Fabio should be starting at RB until his brother comes back from injury. Then, may the best twin win. Or they could just wear the same shirt and we alternate them every now and then.
