TARGET MAN: Zlatan Ibrahimovic after scoring against United in a pre-season friendly

UNITED have been linked with a swoop for Inter Milan and Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Reds have already signed Michael Owen, Gabriel Obertan and Antonio Valencia, but are yet to land a big name that would ease fans' fears in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo's exit.

Now Sir Alex Ferguson is weighing up a bid for 27-year-old Ibrahimovic, who is values at £30m, report the Daily Mirror.

Whenever I've seen him in a televised game he's never looked as good as he's made out to be. Is he any better than Huntelaar? Anyway, I'm more concerned that we get the midfield sorted as I'm yet to be convinced that Hargreaves will be able to contribute a great deal, although I hope I'm wrong.

Assuming Giggs and Scholes will incresingly become only bit part players, that really only leaves Fletcher, Carrick and Anderson for central midfield. And while they are all capable of delivering the
goods on their day, we still need a Mr Big in midfield.

to hit and miss for me world class one min then sunday league the next ! please dont spend 30 mill on him for that money id like someone younger too so would fergie so it will never happen...... i hope !!

£30Million!!!!! For him!!!!? Please don't waste this cash, would rather it be spent on the debt. Utter waste of money it would be.

Better spent on a quality central mid-fielder.

A very talented player but question mark over him at the very highest level, as ive said a million times on here, its not use having a whole host of great strikers if your midfield behind them is rubbish which ours is, i would spend the remaining 60-80 million on top top quality midfield players who can dictate the play, not give the ball away and chip in with a few goals, thats what we need

They said the same about Cantona and Eric hadn't cut it with Inter or Juve... look what SAF achieved there but like "Lee, Heywood" I do question whether he is too similar to Berbatov.

Definitely not!! I think he is probably one of the most overrated players in the world. Very average and have heard he has a bit of an attitude problem which wouldn't be good for the team. I think if we're looking for a forward, it should be Huntelaar. He is a proven goal scorer, and yes we may have brought Owen in for goals, but he won't be able to play every game next season. The goals scored by Ronny and Tevez will need some replacing. Bring Huntelaar, Costa and Young in.

when on song, probably the most gifted front man in the business! however im not sure he is suited to the premiership. similar player to berbatov although doesnt create as many goals as dimitar, but probably more of a goal threat. imo benzema would have been the perfect solution up-front (torres would be my number 1 choice, but will never happen) but it seems now the only realistic option for a target man is huntelaar! as some other people have mentioned, huntelaar is not as gifted as the names mentioned above but he does have a habit of scoring frequently, and the last dutch striker with an excellent scoring record we signed, turned out to be alright!

Mark, South Manchester - RVN no bottle - have you got amnesia or are you a bitter blue? Along with Scholes, RVN pretty much single-handedly won us the league in 2002-03 complete with some pressure pens in the final weeeks. He also scored in tons of European games (overtaking Denis Law's record) such as against Madrid home and away. Also before his injury he had the best scoring ratio in Madrid history along with Di Stefano - doesn't sound like he handles those big games too badly to me.

For those who say he is over rated, well, have you watched him play loads? Like have you seen more than 5-10 games? Like nearer 20-30 games? If you have you know how good he is.

The name I hear most mentioned by premiership defenders, with regards to someone who terrifies them, is Heskey, and no, Im not gonna start talking about how he is great, only that Zlatan does to the same to defenders PLUS he has got all the skills. He can hold defenders off the ball like hes holding off little babies, his strength makes him invaluable to a team, he can hold up the ball and allow our team to move up the pitch (and he can pick the ball out of the sky with a touch of silk, like Berba, but he has also got strength, and all around a much much better player).

Hope this is true. Fergie sign him up!

Ibrahimovic will be a good buy, but Manchester United need to get a good defensive midfielder like Marcus Senna, De-Rossi, Yaya Toure before the transfer window ends in August. The problem with Man Utd in the Champions League was the absence of a ball winner in the midfield as well as somebody that can hold on to the ball to spray good passes. Ferguson need to get somebody that can do that.
