The Argentina international turned down a permanent deal at United last month following a two-year loan deal and has since been linked with a lucrative move to City.
Chelsea are also reportedly tracking the 25-year-old's availability, but Eastlands is Tevez's likely destination this summer.
Tevez said: "If I play for Manchester City I don't think the United fans will feel I am a traitor.
"They have to remember that at least as far as I know I have been thrown out of the club and I have to study the best offers available."
Tevez's decision to turn down the offer of a five-year deal at United has been defended by his adviser Kia Joorabchian, and the player himself insists manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him with little choice but to move on.
"It has come about because I could not stand my sporting situation at Manchester United any longer," he continued.
"My first year was good in all senses. I played in the games and felt respected by the coach but in my second year some strange things happened that I still do not understand.
"After the game at Old Trafford where Liverpool beat us 4-1, in March, Ferguson ignored me almost as if I was to blame for the defeat when really Liverpool dominated us all over the pitch.
"After that the fans called for me to be in the team but he never took the advice on board because he always knows best.
"I gave everything for Manchester United and people know that. For that reason I don't deserve the way things have ended up."

Now you are truly in a club with fans who in character are like you, rude and uncultured.
Goodbye.

But the way he has talked about our club and fergie is a disgrace and shows what kind of man he is.
I'm glad we didn't spend 25m on such a player, with a poor touch and no pace.

I expected you to being a former south american player of the year to have a left foot.....speed....creativity......didn't really see too much of that so swapping you with Owen isn't too much of a bad deal seeing as we saved a further 25mill and have gained a somewhat injury prone striker but one who'll hopefully stay fit and does know where the back of the net is...the stats dont lie my friends!!

When Liverpool were 2-1 up United were outplaying them with 10 men. Tevez yet again failed to get anywhere near scoring, though to be fair he ran around a lot and so helped keep the Liverpool defence on their toes. Then Liverpool had two blindingly lucky long range shots that went in. They deserved their win. This is the truth. Tevez is spitting in the plate he ate off. He's BITTER because he wasn't first choice. Well now he's going to join the BITTERS. I hope he scores as many goals for them as he did for us in the same number of minutes on the pitch.

He might have not been in the first team line up as much as he would have liked, but he went because Kia Joorabchian knew he could get more money for Tevez elsewhere. Gill though he could get Tevez on the cheap at last years price, he was wrong. But it's not Gills fault, he's just an employee. If the glazers had not been penny pinching last year it would never have come to this in the first place. Still, they got Owen cheap enough and that's all that really counts with them.

Was one of your threats that you were going to sign for a major rival because of your poor treatment? How could you imagine us being happy about that? You say you were booted out...hello contract offered!!
You may not have betrayed Fergie but please do not try to use the true affection we showed you in this way. I'm sorry but this reaks of revenge and you are spitting in the face of the very people who worshipped you. If you want to move to City, then fine, great club, great fans but don't try and pull the wool over the eyes of United fans. Don't expect us to have a love in when you next visit Old Trafford. In a popularity contest with Sir Alex, who do you think will come out on top?....No Carlos...think again!!
Good luck in your new career

Go play your football anywhere where ever you like but my opinion has changed and I can honestly say good riddance.

You were offered a contract to stay at the club and either you or more likely your OWNER turned it down.I don't care where you play your football next year if its city so be it. You claim to love the fans but you obviously love the pound notes and not playing in Europe in a world cup year a lot more. Why would a professional footballer take two steps back this is the attitude that kept you on the bench you have all the skill in the world but the mental part of football is missing.

Tevez isnt a golddigger, would you wanna stay at a club that dosent really want you or go to a club that has got just as good of fans and who does want you?
Yeah maybe he is going for the money but can you blame him?
Tevez would be great at city with Robinho, Eto.. you lot are just scared that our attack is gonna be to the strongest in the prim!!
City arent gonna be at the top are they? they will be somewhere in the top half but not TOP! so why worry.
Tevez deserves to go to a better club who wants him, you reds should be supporting him, he really doesnt wanna upset anyone by going to city but he doesnt wanna stay at OT.
He might not even go in City, he might to to Chelsea or this other club? Would you really wanna see Tevez at a club that is already BRILL, and with him in it even better or would you wanna see him at a club that is still trying to stay up in the top half of the table still?
LEAVE TEVEZ ALONE!

Guilty as charged.
It is not that he might be joining City that is so disgraceful it's all the bile he's coming out with now that's upset us. Until he started acting like a baby we all wanted him to stay at OT.
Now you can have him
