Madrid have taken the transfer market by storm over the last month and are close to smashing the £200m mark on signings after agreeing deals for Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol.
More big-name arrivals are believed to be in the pipeline as well, as returning Madrid president Florentino Perez emphatically sets about fulfilling his election promise of a "spectacular sporting project" to get the Spanish giants back to the top after a number of years of underachievement, most notably in Europe.
The captures of Ronaldo and Kaka, the last two winners of the FIFA World Player of the Year awards, plus that of the much-coveted Lyon striker Benzema suggests Madrid should be a force to be reckoned with again next year, and according to Ronaldo, means La Liga will be a cut above the Premier League.
"The Premier League is a very good competition, but I think that the Spanish league is going to have a little more quality because of the players that are arriving," said Ronaldo, who spent six hugely successful years in England with United before his world-record £80million switch to Madrid this summer.
"Both leagues are going to be very good, but I think that with Florentino Perez`s signings the Spanish league is superior to the English.
"It`s going to be a magnificent competition in Spain this year. All the players have a lot of quality and the referees protect the players more."
Much is expected of big-spending Madrid next season as they look to hit back from a disappointing 2008/09 campaign, which not only saw them finish empty-handed but, adding salt to their wounds, also ended up with arch rivals Barcelona walking off with an unprecedented treble.
Madrid were also left red-faced once again in the Champions League, falling at the last-16 stage for the fifth successive year after being humbled 5-0 on aggregate by Liverpool.
The nine-times European champions will be desperate for a much better showing next year, especially with the final being held at the Bernabeu, and Ronaldo believes they will be amongst the favourites.
"To win the Champions League in our stadium would be a great dream. I think it's possible with all the players we have," said the Portugal international in the second part of his interview with Spanish newspaper Marca.
"(However), you need to recognise that the champions, Barca, had a great season and played very well. They have a great team and a magnificent coach.
"It's going to be a very important duel for Spanish and European football and very nice for all of us. I think it will be a great season."
Ronaldo played down talk of repeating Barca's treble-winning achievement, though: "We are going to take it step by step. The priority is the league. The Champions League is very nice, but it also depends on luck and the ties that you get.
"It`s going to be difficult mission to get the double, although I think we are going to do well in both.
"We know that we must work very seriously to achieve our objectives and I think that we are going to do very well."
The 24-year-old, who will be officially presented as a Madrid player tomorrow night, added: "My hope is to win at Real Madrid everything that I won during my time at Manchester United. With the structure Real Madrid have, this is possible.
"Now we need to work hard and do things well and to achieve the objectives.
"The new players that have arrived must fit in well with those already here so that all together we can win many things at Madrid and make the club a little more great still."

Ronaldo should know that football is a team play. You can have the best 11 players in the world. if they don`t play as a team, they look rubbish.
In the last three or four seasons, Real had a collection of World class players, and managers, yet they achieved little. The PL will remain tops and IMO despite all the hype Real will finish second in the Lega.

United will remain challengers for the title and in 2 or 3 years there will be a top 6 or 7. This will ensure great excitement and interest in the Premier League. In Spain, that will NEVER happen and it will be a two horse race for ever.

I would hate that responsibility in a nation where players have a reputation for undermining management and creating internal strife.

:p :p :p, Do watch other leagues ? No offence meant.
But for our top four the EPL is crap. The prescence of fourth rate refs will always make our other clubs look good.
One reason Ronaldo left was the ability of refs to overlook all sorts of fouls. I know you dont watch other leagues from your observation.
Furthermore the third rate clubs get to share the TV cash generated by fans of Utd,Arsenal, Pool and Spurs all over the world.
Like Real we ought to make our own Tv deals to maximise our club's and ots owners's incomes.
Have you seen Udinese play? Have you seen Herrenveen play. City would not make the top flight in Spain or Italy.
The richest men in the world still want to buy into the EPL because of the worldwide appeal.
Michael Owen made headlines in all the top news channels in India. Other clubs dont get a mention here.
The Glazers and SAF had better take great care we get another icon like Becks or Ronny soon. Personally I could not care as long as we do well.
Another facet we got to take a look at is the lack of reverence Utd has for past stars like Yorke and Cole. Utd will have to tread carefully indeed, it is very easy for people to get the wrong impression, for this reason among others we need to get an African star like Eto'o and give more oppurtunity to Manucho who outshone Drogba and Eto'o at the African nation's Cup. We need somebody like Royston Drenthe too.
As a fan I have great faith in SAF but he needs to act fast so that any new signing is also on show in pre season matches.

I would happily swap our 11 recent titles for the opportunity to be a member owned club like Barca.

I hope he one day learns that he is nor the belly button of the globe! What about Real losing to us in the CL quarter finals with Owen scoring a hatrick . . .now that would be good.

Regardless of how he does at Real he'll probably never realise that the world does not evolve around him, he's too self-obsessed and supremely confident for that. He'll be a hit at madrid, I'm sure of it, and many many more people in this part of the world and elsewhere will be watching a lot more of la liga because of what madrid have (potentially) put together and also the football that barca are playing now.
How about beating Real in the final at the bernabeu? Now that would be something! But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Need to see what kind of shape united are really in post-Ronaldo. I'm optimistic.

Tired of the pop shots . He is such a Judas prat. Why again is an article about what a RM player thinks about the PL on our pages for?

The fact remains on an average about 90 odd nations watch because United and a couple of other clubs are involved.
There is enough money for these clubs if they set up their own tv deals, they would even have enough money to be very viable against the best Europe can throw at us.
Forget Blatter, what we need is the govt to enact changes where more a than a certain %age of a clubs net worth cannot be borrowed against.
And yes if clubs like chelski & city get's a super rich owner they dont pour money into them on a debit or loaned amount basis.
regarding ownership I agree with you, I would mind putting in a good amount to be a member of United.
As far as I ma concerned we have a slice of the Spanish league here in England ......... it's called Liverpooldid...they had more spaniards in their team than the spanish opposition when they played against Real. And a spanish manager too. It's not unlike the foreign legion of London. Thank heavens SAF has just one godson here as of now.
