Can't moan at that and we can gain revenge for 2004 when we were cheated out of the competition. The Scousers/Spanish have drawn the Russians, what a shame.
Could not have been better, very happy with that.
And if we get to the final, we will play Liverpool, Chelsea, Barca or Bayern - wow.
This is a very generous draw for us in both the ¼ and semi-finals. I couldn’t believe our luck, honestly. Maybe it is a reward for being defending champions. Playing the second legs away shouldn’t be a problem at all. Our boys can now relax a little bit and put the domestic championship title issue out of rich of our opponents. I’m over the moon.
On paper the best draw we could get, how unusual is that us getting good fortune in the draw, a chance to avenge porto knocking us out also.Cant believe it really I was convinced we would get barca.
Couldn't have hand picked a better draw, hopefully we can put it to Bed with the First Leg at OT, but knowing our boys they'll drag it out....Happy though!!
Gotta laugh at the Dippers and Chelsea -tough draw!!
Yet again we got the toughest draw along with the Gooners,Pity we did not play the first leg away.
Hope this draw makes our year!
obviously 'football is a funny old game' as last weekend proved and there are no guarantees but us and the arse' have to be happier than the spaniards & the russians. But whatever happens to us, we know one of them two ain't winning it this year and the draw has to provide a phsychological boost for tomorrow !
happy days.
having said that, sometimes we're better when the odds are against us ??!!
will be my first euro trip for 2 years porto is a great city to visit and the stadium is fantastic looking forward to it.
I couldn't have put it better myself.
Unbelievable. I would've been happy only to draw a non-PL team, because it's fun to play European teams, but I never even considered we'd get Porto and I expected Chelski to get them. We have a good chance of progressing to the final now, though as Alias said, what a final it would be!
Couldn't be better. If we don't get to the final with that draw we don't deserve to be there!
On paper, we have got the easier draw and the easier side of the draw than Liverpool or Chelsea - which can only be a good thing.
The Porto game is at home first, which sometimes presents us with problems. The main aim of the game is concentration and respect. I don't want to see a Leverkuusen repeat of 2002, where we underestimated them and paid the ultimate price.
yes this is deffo the best result, yes they beat us in 04 luckily but we are no were near the same team now and they are not the same team either...
the final will be a great showpiece this year... we must be favourites to win it again!
on the transfer front.... has any one had a look at sergio aguero?? ive seen a few people mention his name but not alot of you seem to know about him... hes a torres type striker, skill pace, finnesse... he plays for athletico madrid AND he is argentinian so would be the perfect partner for tevez, bringing the best out of him

Wow, I don't think that I could have made the draw any better if I had a free hand. Fantastic that Liverpool and Chelsea have to kick lumps out each other twice. Let's hope that we can put the league beyond those two by then. I think we get to Rome based on that but I can't make up my mind yet who we'll play, so I'll go for the outsiders in Bayern.
Personally I wanted us to draw Pool to settle scores, honestly. Since my fellow Devils are happy I cant complain with the draw which looks easy at first but Arsenal will be in full flow with Cesc and Arshavin.
It's a good draw. It's time to avenge being robbed of the tie v Porto in 2004. Even the semi final appears easier. One thing I would say, United cannot be complecent however.
Happy to draw one of the easier sides, on paper, but a prospective semi against Arsenal will be nip and tuck all the way. That sort of semi could go either way - especially as players like Fabregas and Eduardo are nearing full fitness.
Lord Ruud I disagree that playing at home first leg is a disadvantage as in 1999 we went all the way playing Inter and Juve at home first and finishing the job away. So long as we do the business in the first leg our main priority then is to score away from home. If you look at the Inter matches, taking a 2-0 lead to Milan would have looked better having the edge-of-your-seat viewing of defending a 0-0 away first leg. The Arse are going to be tough to beat as their better players - Walcott, Rosicky, Fabregas and Eduardo are fresh having been out with injury. Poor old Dippers and Chavs... they must be sick of the sight of eachother! I think the Chavs will beat them over two legs as with Essien back they look much stronger, besides I think the Dippers have already peaked. It would be brill to have Brown back soon but I wish Hargo was fit too. Final prediction: Repeat of 1999 final - Munich v Man Utd
Not a STATUS QUO fan, But, I like it, I like it, I L L L Like it!!
Everone seems to think the Arse are gunner beat Villareal.....I don't. We all know how awkward it is to beat Villareal, ie. we haven't managed it yet, and I can't see the Arse getting past them either. Best draw we could have dreamed for methinks.
Agree with t&c, how beautiful that the Chavs and Dippers will be kicking lumps out of each other for at least 180 minutes, who could want more? There will be red and yellow cards aplenty, and I don't care who wins between them in the end, it would be nice if both of 'em could lose. . .
Shaz - I personally prefer the away leg first but there is an argument for both cases for sure and it is personal preference.
I just hope United treat this match seriously and professionally as they should, we realistically should be taking a 2-0 win over to Portugal with us but Porto scored 2 away to Athletico so that should act as a warning.
There's alot of complaceny on this board already. Very foolish although I agree its the best draw we could have been given.
Reddevil4Ever, the revenge on Liverpool would be winning the league. This draw makes that a little bit easier because we have easier European matches than Liverpool and Chelsea. It also improves our chances of winning the Champions League.
Interestingly though, we are away to Sunderland after the first leg, whilst Chelsea and Liverpool have Bolton and Blackburn at home. They should win but they may be physical games. We are also due to play Villa the Monday before the firsat leg, so that will probably be moved. The fixture list is getting a bit crowded now.
Time to get a little revenge on Porto. No slip ups now lads.
