Reds keen to secure deals for duo

SIR Alex Ferguson wants to secure the futures of Carlos Tevez and Ji-Sung Park before the end of the season.

The United manager is not expected to be over-active during the January transfer window, with Serbian prospects Zoran Tosic and Adam Ljajic likely to be the only arrivals at Old Trafford.

Of more concern will be holding on to the players he has, with Tevez's future still up in the air and Park revealing he is yet to be offered a new contract.

Tevez's two-year loan deal runs out at the end of the season and despite United insisting they want to keep him at Old Trafford, a deal is still to be completed.

Praise

The Argentina international again showed his importance with the winning goal against Stoke on Boxing Day, earning praise from Ferguson.

And despite Park not yet being offered an extension, the South Korean has emerged as an important member of Ferguson's squad.

The manager will want to tie him down to a new deal before he reaches the final year of his contract next season.

"I want to stay here, but we'll have to wait and see," said Park.

"I'm not letting myself become too worried. I just want to concentrate on playing well for United and, hopefully, we'll be able to talk.

"If I play well and show that I'm an asset to the team then maybe I'll get a new contract from the manager."

Would you like to see Park and Tevez stay? Have your say.

Tevez not being guaranteed a regular place in the starting line up and the fee will be an issue.Park is a squad player. If the Serb duo arrive and the youngsters continue their improvement someone will leave.Park looks dispensible.Tevez does have a habit of popping up when a goal is needed but v Stoke it was all about the quality of Berbatov.

The quality of berbatov?,if neville never mis hit his cross berba wouldn't have received it as he never advanced into the box like most strikers do to get on the end of it, then he followed it up by a mis hit shot which fortunately landed at tevez.
2 league goals, one which just hit off him against stoke and one against west brom both at home, what qualities has he shown, oh sorry he did a flick against westham for one of his two assists.

Ji sell shirts PARK is a useful player he gets so much stick all he lacks is goals. However I here the Serb who we have offered 150.000 per year is just what the Doctor ordered.
Tevez does not want to go anywhere.

the problem with park and nani they can not score goals, we can keep Park because he is a hard worker and suits well when we meeting top teams. nani have proved this year he is not going to be a man u player, sell him. Tevez have a lot of qualitys but is to expensive to buy, We have a lot of good holding miedfielders carric fletch scholes anderson, but missing front miedfielders like gerrard lampard who is able to run in to the box and score goals

Danny, give over with that £150K a year salary offer. It never happened. That was made up by the papers. He was offered a genuine squad member's salary but feels that he's worth more. Nothing unusual about that.

Agreed !
where are our goal scorers ????????

Knickers, Gerrard and Lampard play in 4-5-1 formations and never seem to play well in any other formation, say for England in a 4-4-2. As we don't play 4-5-1, I can't see either of those players fitting in.

I seem to remember reading a MEN piece claiming SAF would have Tevez's future sorted by the New Year.......not the end of the season

If Tosic signs, I can see Nani covering the right and Park left out in the cold. JS is a good worker with tons of enthusiasm but he doesn’t have the imagination and skill to be anything other than a 27 year old squad player.

Tevez is doing all the right stuff at the right time but I think Fraizer and Welbeck will be the main competitors for any spare slot next season.

Yes, it would be good to keep both but money has a habit of getting in the way of dreams sometimes.

Knickers. Sorry, but that's nonsense. What exactly did Nani prove this season, and how did you arrive at the conclusion that he's be good enough? He hasn't had a run of starts since being here. Tevez has had more than double Nani's playing time this season, but until his goals in the Carling Cup match against Blackburn, he was less productive than him. Still, people complained that Tevez "needed more playing time," or that he wasn't getting enough. Nobody ever called for United to do away with Tevez, but instead, they made excuses for him, and he's had an easy ride during his time here. Why, then, doesn't anybody cut Nani some slack, too? Please realise that he's a long-term investment, and wing players take time to mature.

Get Park signed on every great squad needs a Park in it.

(Knickers)Nani is very similar to Ronny in his early days, very frustrating, but look at Ronny now.

To his credit Nani is a better crosser of a ball than Ronny IN MY OPINON, But like alot of players he is suffering from a lack of opportunities down to Parks Attitude and work rate.

Tosic is more of a replacement for the waining Giggs as he as a natural Left foot. If tosic arrives it will help us next season when Ronny packs is bags for Madrid. (Sorry his bags are already packed) So nani will not be going anywhere decent wide players are hard to come by, thats why Tosic agents are playing hardball at the moment

i should think so to as these two are hard grafters bar non.

ibblybibblybobbly - you still think ronaldo is going to Madrid? They do not have enough money for one after signing huntelaar and diarra. Plus they are looking at the wigan lad, ribery, ashley young and just about every other wide player around - even pennant - other than ronaldo.

Why? They cannot afford him and Fergie has told them there is no chance he would sell them ronaldo over his dead body. Hence calderon and his pathetic attempts to bleat about being united's friend. Fergie? "You think i'd talk to that mob? I wouldn't even sell them a virus". Obviously he got the words wrong as he would happily sell them a horrible debilitating virus but the sentiment is clear: End of discussion

Don't let Park's transfer fee of mere 4mL fool you to under-rate him. The 4mL trade from PSV was just a lucky deal for United thanks to the tricks in the flying Dutchmen's contract bargain. United would not have made it to the UEFA Champions L final in Moscow this year, had JS Park not chopped off and mutilated all and any attempts by Barcelona and the likes to put their balls forward. Ain't nobody other than Park can do that in England or Europe. Just mind you that United had to succumbed to AC Milan four times in the UEFA Champions run-up before United's acquisition of Park. Then Sir Furguson saw Park at PSV trample and maim AC Milan in both legs of 2004/5 UEFA Champions quarter-final. That's when he finally decided to catch Park, whom he had been watching ever since JS Park scored against Furgie's own Scots in Korea's 4:1 victory over Scotland and against the English in Korea's 1:1 draw with England, both of these A-matches just before the start of 2002 Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup. Just remember, without JS Park, quarter-final or semi-final is all United can ever reach in the UEFA Champions League.

Park is terrific and although
he wouldn't start if everyone
was healthy, this lad offers
much to the team and along with players like Fletcher,
Park runs a thousand miles a
game which can't be good for the opposition. He's not brillant or a good finisher but the lad is quality and a total team player. As for Tevez, he's brilliant for all his obvious attributes, but for 32 million pounds I'd let him go and spend that money wisely. I'd look
for a super attacking midfielder, Scholes cannot last forwever, although for
me he's still our best midfielder. I'd buy in the summer and allow a new player
to give Scholes and Carrick a
run for their money. It's the
United way, competition!
I'd like to see a highly creative and goal scoring player come in.
Up the Reds,

It is kind of funny that people talk blase about getting another scholes. ridiculous. There is only Zidane that has bettered the ginger prince as a creative force in midfield over the last generation with perhaps Nedved consistently on the same level.

The one similar player I can think of who is not too old is Fabregas. Just face it - directly replacing Scholes is like replacing keane - probably impossible. To do so it involves different players and tactics. We have players of skill, pace and force up front in Rooney and Ronaldo, bulldogs in Tevez and (technically at least) visionary in Berbatov. It all leans more to an AC Milan like formation with Gattusso and Pirlo creating play from the back. In the likes of Carrick, Anderson, Fletch, Hargreaves and maybe Possebon and Gibson perhaps we already have it. We cannot win 5-0 all the time yet the moment we don't half you lot recommend immediate punishment in a similar vein to how Saddam ran Iraq!!!

Siberian Warrior,

I don't know if what you are saying is correct but it does open up a new way of looking at his importance.

Great reading.

I want to se Park stay as I think he is a good all rounder and deserves a new contract. As to Tevez, then OK if the money is right, but no more paying over the odds like as for Berbatov.Surely we should get him for for half that fee.Otherwise let some other sucker pay over the odds like Man City.
