5 Ronaldo: Even when Reds in command didn't really produce his best

Just finished watching WBA and Hull. Great game. Lots of skill and excitement. A real tonic after the dissappointment of Man.U's lethargic display. Looking forward to the clash at OT next week. If we don't show up to play, Phil Brown will have his team run us off the park. If we do show up, we will win because of the quality we do have. It's no fluke Hull are where they are. It should be a great game.

My cleaner's sister's son in law's neighbour two doors down was at the game and thought Rio, Wes, Ronny and Park were crap. Rooney seemed more concerned with the crowd who were relentless but apart from that we got some good training ground routines down pat and the ref seemed to be having a good time watching Ronny get hacked every time he got the ball and you have to love the double hack with Neville pleading that he only caught him with one set of studs. I'm not looking forward to Hull.

The points should have been in the bag in the first half.
Park was the most influential player and yet he was sacrificed.
Rio went to sleep again.
Still the season is still young.

But SAF and MP must get 0 each, firstly for playing this team, secondly for playing Park (at all and ever again), thridly for taking off Rooney (which was Ok) and NOT putting Tevez on immediately, fourthly for leaving Giggs on when he was obviously beat, a couple of good substitutions Anderson and Tevez for Giggs and Rooney immediatley would have been better and Subbing Park after 5mins of the game would have made perfect sense!!! having made the mistake of putting him on in the firts place!!!!

8 van der Sar: Solid display. Didn't let anything past. Well anything that he could help.
5 Brown: One mistake. but a half decent performance
4 Ferdinand: Fell asleep for a part of the game and just got run over. Check for skid marks
6 Vidic: Absolute rock. Some miscommunication s with VDS. But no biggy
7 Evra: Absolutley solid in the back. Helped Vidic out all the time.
5 Ronaldo: Boy isn't up to the mark just yet. Needed to be benched today.
8 Fletcher: Solid performance again. Brilliant first touch and finish for the goal. Was back helping the defence and helped stop a number of sticky situations
6 Giggs: Good performance. Really needed his experience and used it well.
6 Park: Hard working as always. But nothing special
5 Rooney: Missed that spark.
6 Berbatov: Had a good start but just not enough support from the ref.

That fella Fellaini reminds me of the character Screech from 'Saved by the Bell'.
A draw is not the end of the world, though this biting credit crunch might be. Funny how a random draw exposes Alex Ferguson for the fraud coach that he is, at least according to some so-called United fans who have never seen a game end in a draw before.

Also I cant see how tevez has lost his place over berbatov, last season with him and rooney the opposition defence never got a minutes peace and we scored goals, this season we are low scorers and berbatov seems to be in midfield, again we have no striker in the box, also apart from his tap in goals so far I can only remember him having one shot at goal at that was against chelsea, if zaki's buy out clause is 7million i'd be giving old friend bruce a call come january also. Hopefully pool and chelsea get players sent off etc and draw to salvage the weekend.

Instead of whining we have to understand that we are closer to chelsea now, 5pt gap with a game in hand which can safely be said as a 2pt gap & considering they will cum to OT later this season where I think we can beat them this season we can ahead of the blues.Liverpool extending their lead doesnt worry me as it is inevitable that they will lose points eventually once their star players get injured. They have been more fortunate then Man.utd & chelsea in terms of the injuries the players sustained.Im confident we will be up there in the epl table come February.Up the reds

As for our game, most people who saw it spotted the good performances by Fletcher (MOM) and Giggs. VdS, Brown, Rio (soft goal from straightforward cross) and Berbatov and put in poor displays - Anderson/Nani were no better as subs. Odd that Fergie replaced Rooney (although rightly subbed for his own good) with Nani rather than Tevez and I would agree than the Apache should have been on the pitch earlier.
There will be the usual knee-jerk reactions and doom and gloom but Everton will be in the UEFA cup spots come the end of the season and while we should have won the game, taking only a point at Goodison is no disgrace.

Dont think we can afford 3 players on the pitch at the one time who cannot track back effectively to help the team ie:Ronaldo,Nani and Berbatov. It wont work in the hundred mile an hour Premiership.
We are getting like Arsenal - pretty pattens but no real substance when the going gets rough. Its not enough to put in a magnificent performance, seem like world beaters and then drop points to the likes of Newcastle and Everton.
I got carried away with Rooney against Celtic - we still miss Roy Keane the greatest enforcer of all!!
tooth&claw, manchester (27/10/2008 at 09:20)
Not much to add that hasn't been said already. Great start, great goal, we needed a second goal in the first half to secure the game. Everton were always going to fly out of the traps in the second half but it still doesn't explain why Brown, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Park, Berbatov and Rooney should all dip to their worst form in years in the second half.
I felt sorry for Fletcher being sacrificed for a forward. I thought Tevez could have come on earlier. Thought Park could have been sub'ed sooner.

1. In the cold light of a Monday morning, credit to Everton; they went up three levels second half and, as Moyes said after the game, they couldn't have sustained that for 90 minutes.
2. I think too many of the players had been listening to Strachan midweek and, particularly after the first half stroll, were casually daydreaming about being the 'best team in Europe'.
3. Leadership issues. Shame Citizen Nev wasn't playing as he might have done something sooner about the second half sloppiness/lack of fight. We're still not a team packed with natural talkers/organisers.
4. Park is rubbish.
5. Credit to Fergie for subbing Rooney. I hate any form of badge kissing and it only helped Everton by rousing the crowd. You're 23, Waz: it's not big and it's not clever.
6. Sustaining a performance. It's annoying, to say the least, that we've now scored first at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Goodison and still only taken two points. Worse than that, we started all three games really well before, not just tailing off a bit, completely collapsing.
Yesterday it was particularly galling (despite a very helpful result) watching Liverpool continuing to try and play progressively (passing the ball thoughtfully) deep into the second half away at Chelsea, at a time when we would have reverted to our, by now traditional, 'sit deep, time-waste and try and hang on' little team-style panicking.
7. Hargreaves/midfield battling. Is Hargreaves finished? It appears he might be. If so, we need a new player of that type (as Fergie alleged when he bought him, he's supposed to give us that extra defensive bite). Diarra? Palacios? Either would be useful.
8. Substitutions/the bench. Perhaps it's unfair to judge on the selective editing of tv pictures, but when things are going badly, the lack of any dynamism (or even movement) from Micky, Fergie and Rene is extremely frustrating. Micky just looks gormless, Rene just looks worried, while Fergie just looks old and blotchy. In all three games the tide had clearly turned against the team and nothing was done, substitution-wise, until it was far, far too late.
