The England duo are set to make their comebacks in the Old Trafford Premiership clash with West Bromwich Albion a week today.
Carrick has missed the last six matches since breaking a bone in his foot against Liverpool a month ago.
The 27-year-old had only started one game before his Anfield misery but manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he will almost certainly be back in contention to face the Baggies.
"We are expecting Michael to be available next week. He is almost back to full training now," said the United boss.
Meanwhile, Owen's frustrating long-term problem with knee tendinitis has improved.
He has fought the injury on and off ever since he arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2007.
It struck him down again on the eve of the double winner's pre-season tour of South Africa. Despite treatment and injections throughout last term, the problem returned during the close season and forced the 27-year-old to skip the tour.
His delayed return began with an appearance as sub against Liverpool and starts against Villarreal and Chelsea.
But the trouble reappeared and has forced him to miss the last four matches.
However, Fergie is now confident he'll be able to kick-start his season against Albion.
"Owen is much better and we will pencil him in for the West Brom game without question," said Sir Alex.
How important are Hargreaves and Carrick to United? Have your say.

As for hargo, would love to see him back, but you'll will excuse me if I seem a bit skeptical about him returning. Would rather him be back against one of the top teams where he will definitely be an asset. Save him for the CL and derby games.

Manchester United took a huge risk with Tevez; given that he is only with us on loan. It is all well and good the United claiming that there is no such hitches and that it will be resolved in the new year, but I wonder if the club are possibly having second thoughts and are maybe looking elsewhere. It is reportedly going to cost the club in the region of £32-35m to secure the deal; however with the current financial climate the way it is, you do sense that either the demands and fee of the player are going to have to dramatically reduce or the club are going to have to look for the cheaper alternative. This would be a sad conclusion for both fans and a [player that has given so much.United have been given aged players and squan players new deals but TEVEZ has been left out in the cold.
I don't normally buy into transfer speculation, but the very fact that the Carlos came out himself last week and felt the need to express concern suggests twitchiness on the part of the Argentinean. Tevez wants to stay at Old Trafford, despite being unjustly left on the bench but he knows more than anyone that he is owned by a third party and therefore his wishes will count for little, as he will be open to the highest bidder. There are cheaper options out there and with the crunch hitting all football clubs, United may have no option.
In the past week the club has been linked with Wigan's Antonio Valencia and in the past few days with the new Brazilian sensation Douglas Costa; who has seemingly the whole of Europe's elite vying for his signature. A £21m get out clause will certainly prove a damn sight cheaper and given that he is of similar ilk to Tevez will only make it even more appealing to the money men at Old Trafford. Valencia likewise will only cost United in the region of £18-20m, so Sir Alex may have his hand forced when it comes to the end of the season.
Should United pay over the odds for Tevez in January or are they looking to move for a cheaper option?

It appears clear he now is trying to buy Costas the 18 yr old star?

Hargreaves, one match a month is what you are worried about. Well that may be enough for us to win us a trophy or two for that man can influence a match. Hopefully it will be more like two matches a month. That's 24 a season and SAF won't feel the urge to use the boot.
After having to wait for a year+ for the man and knowing the quality he is and the confidence I feel when he is on the field and seeing his sweet freekick, I feel that I want him to stay at ManU until he retires.

Another concerned fan re. the Tevez situation. With him around, in case Rooney gets crocked, we have a strong hardworking back-up. These two guys are of amazing mold, very hardworking. If he goes, and Rooney is not available, I do not think Campbell, Manucho, or Welbeck will be able to make up that energy and create a similar level of disruption amongst the opposition. Just asking, do you think Campbell could make the grade at OT considering the level of players here: eg Berba, Ronaldo, Rooney, et.al.?

Now about making the deal permanent. It works like this, we signed him for 2 loan years and we have to pay the fees for 2 years. Regardless we sign him today or 30th May 2009 we have to pay loan fees. If we sign him today then obviously we have 2 pay the agreed fee today as well. Financially it does not make any sense. Why not leave that amount in deposit and earn interest on it and that interest will make part of fees.
In finance terms, if you are allowed credit then make sure you pay it off on the last possible day.

Don’t get yourselves worked up over the Tavez paper-talk. Unless anything extraordinary happens in the next six months he will sign as planned.
Soljay, USA, 11Oct. Please be careful when using the words Michael, Owen, Sir Alex, Arsenal in the same sentence. It’s enough to get anyone worried before they get to the end of the line.
