Fair ratings - but perhaps a 7 for Scholes and Rooney, even if they played only 20 minutes? They really added an extra dimension to our play, which got us the goal.

I thought Park was mixed, as well as Anderson and Tevez. Those three are to similar in both physic and style of play. One or two of them on the pitch is very useful, but all three... way too much! Berbatov will come good, he had some brilliant touches and passes and will start scoring very soon. We've got a good squad now and I expect players to leave and one thatr will not surprise me if leaves is Nani. He holds the ball far to much, he shoots when he should pass and he's way to ego. If SAFs long term plan is to let Ronaldo go, then maybe we should keep Nani but then the staff must start working on Nanis team spirit, ego and all over play at once!

Anderson was man of the match, put some great balls through.

roger of norway you have a point there about Nani but again that´s what people were saying about CR in the first two seasons and for me they had a very narrow view of the game. Working with players with Nani's, CR's, Theo walcott's, Robinho's capacity is the best that a coach can get. It's all ther is just add bits and peaces here and there and you just creat a superstar. A shame that Queiros left because thats what he can do best. Still I believe that Nani can become one of the best wingers in the world. He is a the right club and I'm sure SAF sees it like he did with Cristiano. Need to improve his decision making, thats it. Berbatov has an imense reading and if he increases his working capacity he will be huge...needs time to get into the team. Kind of remindes me Zlatan before he really reached his top level. scholes came in well and so did Rooney but the one that gives United team another dimention is Ronaldo even tough he still recovering. Fletcher is better but still not a player for united. Andersson still a mistery for me (I saw him Porto before United. Works hard but lost the flair that he had, hope he will get it back.

Park is just not good enough!
Neville was better but still no longer good enough. Where is the CURRENT England roght back, Brown.
Can't balme the forwards if they get no service from midfield. Where are all these world class midfielders?
Good tactic with Scholes bring on in last 15 when the other team are knackered! Otherwise they just run around him as if he isn't there.

Come on SAF stop picking the once great but now too old players and start using the good players you have properly.

Rubbish display from midfield, again.

roger of norway i agree with you regarding Nani attitude but we should not consider selling him as he has all the qualities to be a top player. Fergie needs to start having a one to one with him to sort out his ego as he seems desperate to be Ronaldo when he has done nothing to be even considered in the same bracket.
The ratings are +1 over for all the players considering the fact that they were playing against a poor team.Fergie is struggling at the moment to find the right combination by trying to change what was successful last season. We need a balance of quality (Ronaldo,Scholes,Berbatov,Nani) and hard worker player(Rooney,Tevez,Park,Fletcher,Anderson...)We should not have too many of the 2nd group in the team when playing at home.

I never miss a game home or away and Park is always one of our best performers. He is such a clever footballer. May not have the skills of a Ronaldo but brings other abilities.
Oh, and he should have had a penalty but it appears as this was in United's favour, we are ignoring that.

Little harsh on Berbatov and Fletcher Bobby. Thought Fletcher played ok again 6 and Berbatov produced a few moments of real class 5. Agree on Park though. Nani was excellent if a little greedy when he came on and should play in front of a player who is fast becoming the new Mcclair for me. A Fergie favourite who produces little of any great effect offensively or defensively. I thought he had good potential in his first season but I get the feeling he is good up to a point but isnt going to improve.

Possebon was not even on the bench.

danny, it's a well known fact that you are absolutely deluded when it comes to judging players, but still I was completely flabbergasted to find that you thought Anderson was man of the match. "put some great balls through"?! Wow. Did you also notice the times he gave the ball away in midfield so they could hit us on the break - or was that pure brilliance as it allowed him to showcase his determination to chase them?

Oh, and I suppose you thought Scholes was terrible when he came on.

Valtinho,

I think Fergie has not yet found Anderson's best position. United don't really play with a threequarter player, and if they do its Tevez or Rooney in the SS position.

Last season he did well as a combative midfield but as you say, he isn't the same attacking player he was at Porto and still hasn't scored yet. I would like to see him be used on the left wing more to try and see if he can use more of his attacking ability.

valtinho lisbon, you are right about anderson. what happend to that wonderful attack minded flair player? dont get me wrong i still think he's doing great here and i'm one of his fan, but still somethings not right. what is his prefered position? also what happend his goals? it seems he cant get a goal to save his life!. on nani i'm not so optimistic, i always said from the day we signed him that he wont make it at united. united have paid way to much for him as there were pressure from spurs at the time. the strange thing is, fergie and everyone was saying how fast nani was when we signed him! did they actually watch him before they signed? think not!

Why is Rob Styles not listed on the Star Man? I would pass my vote to him.

Congratulations on your empiric victory!

VDS - 9.9 for doing nothing; Nev 5 has yet to convince me he is beter than Wes; Rio 8 was in cruise control all match; Vida 8 -another on auto-pilot; Pat 9 - by far our best player; Ronnie 7 for effort; DF - 6 industrious without real effect, like Anderson 6, Park 7 - very busy; Sir Charlie 6 - will be disappointed with his efforts; Berba 7 - came alive in the 2nd half - Scholesy 7, Roon-hay - 7; Nani 6... mark my words some team this season is going to get a real lambasting from Utd ... they are just starting to gel... 8 - 0 ..can just see it ...possibly 11-0

I do not know how people can still say that Park is not good enough. I have never seen any player run as much as he does. And what a work horse! And he is a lurker... Always following shots at goal in case of a possible fumble frm the keeper. It paid off against Chelsea and almost did so against Bolton. I am very happy we have a player like him in United... Service from mid field however does need to improve. Scholes was brilliant in the last 20 minutes that he was on for, but we need more players like him distributing the ball. carrick was brilliant for us a couple of seasons back (Game against Roma at Old Trafford springs to mind). Hope he get's that magic touch back... And in CM, we need at least one experienced player there. Fletcher and Anderson, not a very good mix...

Bobbydazler you really tickle me at times! Park 4? I'm not particularly a Park fan but I do feel you could give him s bit more credit than that! Was he really that bad? He seemed to have a reasonable team game to me and I would have scored a 6.
On the other hand you give Scholes an 8 for 20 minutes work? Yes, it was a lovely little cameo and the team came alive in those last 20 minutes but that was against a tiring side. I know the point you're making though.
Rio's form is awsome this last 12 months but agree that Patrice is just so good to watch.
The Nev is starting to look the part again which is great for the squad. I thought Anderson did OK and was unlucky to be subbed - should have been Fletch.
Ronnie is getting there, however, agree with your Berb rating. Tevez ran up a few blind alleys again.

Great performance all round. Bolton defended well and we have Rob Styles to thank for that penalty.
Team is beginning to move better and better. Berb and Tevez had no chemistry, Park has industry but final third, he is just too weak. Ronaldo was where all the invention is coming from as usual. Anderson needs to start taking the ball towards the opposition and he will soon start looking like the potential that he is supposed to be.
Scholes and Rooney did well when they came on, sublime passing and all. Agreed with the comments on Nani, his decision making if dreadful, just like Ronaldo's when he arrived. I hope SAF can bring the best out of him.

Evra + Ronaldo = dynamite.

Valtinho, the Anderson situation causes me great distress. Youtube aside, I never saw him play at Porto, but I believe he played as the attacking point of a three man midfield - is that correct?

Anyway, my point is we don't seem to play him in a way that maximises his (supposed) attacking flair. Fergie has talked about him "replacing Scholes", but, to me at least, they just seem very different players.

It seems, assuming he's played in his 'proper' position, he's the sort of player who needs to be the main man and have the team built around him. Well, with Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbs etc, etc at Utd, that's simply not going to happen.

So I'm wondering: maybe the best thing for Utd (and Anderson) would be for him to move on elsewhere (Spain?) where he could properly develop in a team more suited to his style.

Ps I don't want him to leave - far from it. I'm just not sure, at this stage in his career, if he's playing for the right club.

The midfield wasn't rubbish, I think Fletcher had a very good game and Anderson showes glimpses of what he can do but he had to reduce himself because there was to many all-over-the-pitchers in our team. As I've said before; playing Tevez, Park and Anderson at once gives us to little structure and to little direct play. Notice how much more direct we played when Rooney replaced Tevez. Berbatov also improved after that switch because Rooney and Scholes gave United the structure we missed when Tevez, Park and Anderson hustled and bustled around.

Report This Reply

I'm a bit concerned about how well Tevez fits into our team. He is a brilliant fighter but as I've tried to point out; having both him and Anderson is a little bit to much. Any thoughts?

Report This Reply

Lets not get too excited about this. A lot of huffing and puffing and another mindless performance from a midfield which was clueless. This against a very poor team that should of been two up before that "penalty?". Megson, generally, knew Fergie would play a flairless midfield and set up his stall accordingly, with hard working donkeys, to thwart Uniteds efforts. Not till Scholesey came on did we have any brains out there at all. At least that was something Fergie got right, putting him on for the last twenty mins. Fletcher had one of his best ever games but he just doesn't have it upstairs.

(City just gone one down at Wigan. HaHa).

I guess we should be thankful O'shea didn't come on instead of Scholes or Rooney, like last week, SAF must of had a brain fart eh. I'm sorry but I am totally frustrated at having to watch this rubbish knowing that there are great players not being used. It is still a mystery to me how the class of 92 ever got going with SAF in charge.
