United's French striker is now surplus to requirements at Old Trafford having been left out of the Reds' tour of South Africa.
And his old club Fulham are looking to end the misery he has suffered with United since he moved from Craven Cottage in January 2004.
Saha had been a consistent hitman at Fulham from 2000 but as soon as he switched north he was beset by a series of knee problems.
It has restricted him to 76 starts since his £12.5m move four and a half years ago. His to tal appearances did yield 42 goals but his catalogue of injuries stretched Sir Alex Ferguson's patience to breaking point.
However, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes a return to the Cottage could reinvigorate his career and leave his woes behind him at Old Trafford.
Ex-Red Roy Keane has a similar outlook on Saha and currently appears to be Fulham's main contender for the Parisian's signature.
Sunderland's Keane is also being linked with a £4m move for United's Darren Fletcher.
The 24-year-old Scottish international has consistently said he is happy to fight for a place in United's senior midfield. Everton are also pursuing Fletcher but it looks likely both will end up disappointed.
How much is Saha worth? Have your say.

The Tevez deal was a 2 year loan, with the option to make it permanent any time during those 2 years.
He has only served one year of the loan. What is the panic?
If were to shell out top dollar now to make it permanent (£15 million I believe), and he got a career threatening injury this season, it would be money down the drain.
There is a time and a place for everything. United will know when the time is right to make the deal permanent.
It will happen, relax.
Regarding Saha....
A fit Louis Saha is one of the best strikers in the League.
It is a gamble for any club to take him, but if his luck were to change and he got back playing regularly, you'd have a hell of a player.
If Saha wasn't injury prone, we wouldn't need to sign any striker this summer.
