ANDERSON will miss the start of the Premier League season.

United's young midfield ace has been named in Brazil's 18-man Olympic squad for the Beijing Games.

It means that the player will miss part of the Reds' summer preparations and be absent for the start of the new season.

Brazil are in Group C with Belgium, China and New Zealand and begin their campaign on August 8 against Belgium. The Olympic gold is the only significant prize the country has never won.

Ronaldinho is included in the squad, as are City's new signing Jo, Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and Real Madrid’s Robinho.

AC Milan playmaker Kaka will not travel to Beijing after his club refused Brazil’s request.
