Reds ready to report Real

Sir Alex Ferguson

UNITED last night declared war on Real Madrid after the Spanish giants continued their public pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Reds are ready to report Real to FIFA over their blatant attempts to unsettle the double footballer of the year, which were stepped up yesterday.

Just days after being accused of having no morals by Sir Alex Ferguson, Real's coach Bernd Schuster infuriated Old Trafford chiefs by reiterating his intention to take Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.

United have repeatedly insisted their star player is not for sale and are now ready to take the fight to world football's governing body.

In a statement, the club said: "United has watched with growing irritation the comments attributed to Real Madrid over their alleged desire to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The fact is the player is on a long-term contract and his registration is held by United. The player is not for sale.

"The club will have no alternative but to report Real Madrid to the world governing body, FIFA, if it continues to behave in this totally unacceptable fashion.

"These public attempts to unsettle the player are completely against the regulations and the club will not tolerate them any longer."

United do not make a habit of commenting on transfer speculation, but have been so incensed by Real's actions that they were driven to the unusual measure of issuing the statement on their official website.

Ferguson has long complained about the Spanish side's conduct in the transfer market, but the latest comments by Schuster have clearly infuriated everyone at Old Trafford.

In a Spanish interview, Schuster spoke as if a deal had already been completed.

He said: "There are other players we have been looking at, but everything has slowed down a little due to all this Cristiano Ronaldo business, seeing as it is the big priority for the club.

"The English way has been a perfect education for a player with such exceptional talent There he has learned to enjoy his football as a complete professional.

"This means we would get a Cristiano who would arrive here with his lessons learned.

"Cristiano would help us in a lot of ways, without a doubt, but we can't stop just with him.

"He'll be expensive and we'll have to pay a lot of money, but we need more players because he won't be enough."

It' Ronaldo's mom's fault!!! I think she has this freaky dream that one day her beloved son will wear a Madrid jersey. He' lucky Keano ain't around any more, otherwise the city of Manchester might hear the sound of someone getting a really good spanking!!!

About time. I think we might be able to get Arsene Wenger's support on this as well. His comments about Hleb are those of a vulture and a creep. They don't have a problem chatting up the likes of Ronaldo, Fabregas and Hleb. Real Madrid might have the best history of all clubs but the behaviour of those in positiopns of power in Madrid is truly down there with the worms. Have they no pride and dignity?

Ooo the irony, I bet Villa fans remembering the Dwight Yorke saga some years back are looking on with interest. Now, who else was there....?

Real tap up nearly every player thats avaliable to them ,but ronnie isnt,so bog off real, with your ageing team of misfits.
I hope fifa throw the book at them.

Schuster certainly likes the mind games, you can tell that he's someone that's used to this kind of thing.
It is very dishonourable, almost like a kid in a pram "If I can't have him, then I'll make sure you can't either!" tsk.......

Someone should clamp down on this, it's not right, ok, I'm not saying we haven't done things like this in the past, but a passing comment about Fergie liking a player is as much as you ever got from the boss.

the fault lies with ronaldo, why wont he come out and make it clear that he loves united and wont be moving?. the truth is deep down he would like to go madrid. if the reports from spain are true that madrid are offering ramos, robhino, diara and 39m for ronaldo then i would bite there hand off and deliver ronaldo my self!. but another thing i will say is ronaldo will regret if he did go to them, as he could be kicked out after one season if did not perform.

This really annoys me....throw a deal on the table or.....well....f**** off....

I hate the way Real are trying to throw the swagger around, unfortunately for us, their ego is only matched by Ronaldo's himself, and if the right amount of money was offered then I'm sure Ronaldo would go.....

He's proved himself in Manchester, Fa Cup, CHampions League, Premier league and with the weather not his preferred, throw in the fact his mother wants him to play for Real.....

Then, for the right amount he could be off, just for me, I'd like to say to Real, make an offer or get lost!!

Uefa should give Real Madrid the same punishment United received following their lenghty public pursuit of Owen Hargreaves, when he was contracted to Bayern Munich!

I'd say Utd reacting like this is the clearest indication yet that Ronaldo has told the club he wants to leave. If the club had faith he was staying, no public attack on Real would be necessary. Besides, there's no way Real would have cranked up the "Ronaldo is coming!" media assault without a quiet nod from Ronaldo (or his agent). As lots of Spanish football pundits have said, this saga is following the exact same pattern as Real's earlier big-money seductions of Figo and Zidane. To me, Utd's statement is more about warning Real they'll need to pay-up big-time, rather than a serious bid to warn them off Ronaldo.

So, you buy a guy at a relatively low price, much like Wenger and his policy, help him mature into the best player in the world and then "have" to sell him to Madrid for big bucks. Madrid think they can take the best players away from the best clubs because they are Madrid. Here is a guy who has just retained the premier league and won the champions league with another massive club in the form of Manchester united. If he left, it'd be a case of: "what were you thinking?"

Ronaldo needs to follow Kaka's example and pledge his loyalty to Manchester United, at least for the next five years. Then he can go at the age of 28/9 and have four years or so for Madrid.

I think we can look on this positively - we have a player that is so good that RM are chasing him - but it doesn't mean they have a good chance of getting him. I mean I would like to have dinner with Jessica Alba but that isn't going to happen!

For RM to get Ronaldo, they would have to offer somewhere in the region of 100m+ and wages of at least 9m+ a year. For Ronaldo, if RM has a bad season, he would regret the support he enjoys from the fans and everyone at the club.

I think everyone is making too much out of this. If he goes, he goes, if he stays, even better. At the end of the day, RM don't need to sound out their interest in the press, they have his agent's mobile number I'm sure. So why are they doing this? Stirring......that's all I can think of!

For eye-watering, breath-taking hypocrisy, this really takes the biscuit. Does no-one remember the tapping-up of Jaap Stam as detailed in his autobiography or has it been erased from the collective consciousness ? They say attack is the best form of defence and it would be comical if it wasn't so damaging to football. Still, carry on in your own little world United!

ramos, robhino, diara and 39m for Ronaldo , whats that about 100m?
If they think he is worth that and he is not committing to ManUtd take the money and stuff the three players they are offering. I don't think there are too many quality players who would feel good about being part of a one sided exchange. Let Real Madrid put up the cash, we don't need their "surpluss to requirements" players. Stump up the cash or stuff off.

Deano58 with the odious name. You bitters have your own problems to concentrate on. Go back to your sad little blue pages, your club name is on the left underneath ours as in life.

I think some fans on here are very selfish and don't realise the damage this might be doing to a potentially very good young player.

If Ronalso wants to move on and imnprove himself with a more famous and successful club, then we should all respect his wishes.

I would not seem fair to limit his ambitions by keeping him at a club where he is clearly no longer wanting to be at.

So fair play, if Ronalso wants to move to a bigger club, we should thank him for his efforts, let him move on, and just get on with things.

I mean, isn't that what Bayern had to do with Hargreaves, and PSV had to do with Ruud?

Deano58 - i was at the Man City game in Bangkok recently as an invited guest. Free entry, yet a 1/4 full stadium! The real p*** take was the youth cup being paraded by the SENIOR players for the non paying Thai public. Dr Frank also put a band on, but not even they could stir up enough emotion or interest for the 'fans'. Cap it all city were outplayed. Now that is one for the trade descriptions act. Thank god Utd are operating in there own little world...what city are operating in...well you must have all the answers judging by your nom de plume. Plenty of AIG on show though.

Enough? The whole thing about transfers and contract needs to be sorted out byt UEFA and FIFA.
1. A club cannot contact a player or his agent without first contacting the club he plays for.

2. Agents cannot tout their player to other clubs without the written permission of the club he plays for.

3. Players cannot tell their agents to find them another club without tellong the club first.

4. Once a player has signed a contract he must honour it for at least 3/4's of its term.

5. A club must also do the same before, other than severe disciplinary breaches, before offering him a transfer.

6. Players can put in for a transfer, but not just because he is not first choice or dropped for poor perfomances.

7. Any transfer fees should be paid purely to the clubs involved, any agents fees should come out of the players wages, not from any of the transfer fee or having it bumped up to cover it.

8. The player receives none of the transfer fee, or recieves any sum tax free, he should purely get what ever wage they buying club want to pay him.

9. ANY breeches of these rules the club should be banned from buying or selling players for a years, any player breeching these rules is banned for a year.
Any manager breeching these rules is banned for a year.

The whole saga of trasfers and contracts is getting beyong a joke and needs to sorted. And United are not blameless in this either.

Vino Tinto completely agree with you on that one.

As for the comments about Bayern, I suppose there are some similarities but the difference was Hargreaves never said once (as far as I can recall) the he wanted to stay at Bayern, as soon as it was made aware that he wanted to come to OT then that was it, he didn't change his mind every other week.

Having said that, we all know that perhaps Ronaldo has been saying one thing to one person and a different thing to another.

Can't quite work out if he's just not sure himself, is trying to play a mind game but is still a bit slow upstairs to do so or does want to go and keeps getting a taste of guilt for the United Fans, hence keeps on changing his mind.

Being honest as we all know, if he wanted to stay then he would have just said that.

I for one really would like him to stay, if he does go, I wouldn't hate him though, he has really helped us, I'd just be more worried about Nani, Anderson and the younger players that were obviously affected in their choice to come to OT because of players like Ronaldo, Rooney already here.

As for Madrid....P*** off....even the way Schuster is saying it, basically they can't bring through good players, they just try to use their position and name to grab the best already conditioned players.

I've got news for you Madrid, you're not as big as you used to be, nor are you as big as you think you are.

You're a Premier League Reject team...why do you think the Premier league is the best one now...tsk!!!

SAPPER MANCHESTER????

I had to stop reading halfway through your mindless drivel.

You can tell you're a bit tunnell visioned there.....

If you read through any one of these, you're obviously not thinking about it from the player perspective.

How could you stay at a club whilst sitting on the bench, the manager won't play you because you had a run-in with him and you're sitting there, getting older, watching your career getting shorter because of something in the contract that SAPPER MANCHESTER CAME UP WITH..you must stay for atleast 3/4 of the contract time????? Mate.....sort it out....

Put that into any other world, job, music industry.....no one would go for it...

THINK MAN...before you open your mouth!!!

SoulboyFTR, No its not. Your argument is flawed.
Who said Ronaldo is going to improve when he goes to Real Madrid. Just how big a club are Real Madrid in comparison to UNITED?
Yes. They have won the CL 9 times. Bought Galacticos to achieve that and gone bankrupt in the process only to be bailed out by the tax payers money. I beleive they lost ownership of Bernabau Stadia at one stage. Real Madrid for the past 4 seasons have spend upwards of £100 million on players and been out of the Champions League by December in the 3 seasons.

Apart from Hiugera they really donot have top players, they have onbly won La Liga because of Barcelona's shortcomings.

Compared to us REAL MADRID have nothing on us, ok, they can be a good team, but when you look at the age of our players, the form, the desire and hunger they show especially the younger ones, Fergie has proven that the correct balance of Experience and determination can and will WIN you titles.

Just to put it simply.

Real Madrid is a man in a 20,000euro hired suit walking into a bar with no money in his pocket.

It's the name...that's ALL!!!!!

Well put Soulboy!!

It's obvious the situation has a solution in that Ronaldo just simply say, I am staying at the swamp. All this posturing is about money. Ferguson has engaged in the same behaviour he is accusing Real Madrid of doing. This is merely the pot calling the kettle black.
