Utd special: have your say!

THE Manchester Evening News is producing a 32-page special supplement to commemorate United's remarkable double - and we'd like you to have your say in it.

All you need to do is give your views on the following five categories from the 2007/2008 campaign via the feedback form below, and we'll print the pick of the bunch in our special edition.

1: Player of the season

This one might appear straightforward, but there's always room for debate. Cristiano Ronaldo has been in incredible form and scored his 42nd goal of the season against Chelsea in the Champions League final. His domestic performances were majestic but he proved he can cut it on the biggest stage with eight goals in 11 games in Europe. However, at the back Rio Ferdinand has been in imperious form and presided over one of the meanest defences in United's history. He has also become a leader, taking on the skipper's armband in Gary Neville's absence. And what about Paul Scholes? Having recovered from his eye injury, the Ginger Magician struck the stunning blow that killed off Barcelona and rediscovered the form that has wowed the Old Trafford faithful for the last 15 years.

2. Goal of the season

That Scholes volley against Barca will be tough to beat in this category, both for its execution and significance. But in a season full of such brilliance, there are other contenders. Ronaldo's free-kick against Portsmouth was simply unstoppable, while Carlos Tevez' goal against Middlesbrough was the result of superb interplay with Wayne Rooney. Which is your pick?

3. Signing of the season

Sir Alex Ferguson's squad was found out in the 2006/2007 and the manager did something about it. He signed Owen Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson and Tevez and they arguably proved the difference between this year's silverware and last year's near miss. But who was the key signing? Have your say.

4. Unsung hero of the season

Ronaldo may have stolen most of the headlines this season but he couldn't have won everything on his own. The likes of Park Ji-Sung, Wes Brown and Michael Carrick have all greased the wheels of United's success this season. Which player do you think has been the Reds best 'water carrier'?

5. Key moment

There have been many twists and turns in the double winning campaign, but which do you think was the most telling? Was it Scholes' strike against Barca? Or how about John Terry's penalty miss in the Champions League final? Could it even have been something as minor as referee Steve Bennett's decision not to send Scholes off in the final Premier League match at Wigan?

Have your say on these five topics, and see your name in print in our special supplement.

1. Player of the season is a tough one. Obvious choice is Ronaldo, but Vidic, Scholes, Evra, Van Der Sar, Tevez are all contenders. Probably have to go for that boy Ronaldo. 42 goals is staggering.
2. Goal of the season would be his second free kick against Portsmouth.
3. Signing of the season would be very tough too. Nani hasn't had a huge impact, but he is young and still learning. Anderson looks like he's been playing here for years, and is definately one to watch, just needs to find his goal scoring touch! Hargreaves has been outstanding and has not only brought us a new dimension, but is ultra versitile. Right back, right wing or centre mid, he always delivers. The choice would have to be Tevez. He loves us, we love him. Doesn't stop running and works incredibly well with Wazza.
4. Unsung hero? This is a toss up between Carrick, Evra and Brown. I feel obliged to say Evra, but is he unsung? We all know how important he is, and if it wasn't for Ronaldo he'd be player of the season, so i'll have to go for Carrick. Everyone had doubts as to whether he'd fill the price tag, but i think he's been phenomenal in the 2nd half of the season.
5. Key monent? SO many to choose from, but Tevez's late goals against Tottenham (if ot was his) and Blackburn. Crucial.

This really is so hard when you think of an entire season.......

1: Player of the season;
Cristiano Ronaldo – The ‘Terminator’! Our talismanic winger produced a fine performance in the CL final to negate the big game jibes but looks to be following in the OT legends list ofNo.7s with consistent brilliance - although its a team game and they allow him to play its Cristiano that we pay to watch!

2. Goal of the season;
So many Goals it’s hard to single it down to just one goal but i’ll try although it’s sooooo subjective....My top 5 in reverse order......

5). Nani’s wonder strike from 30yds+ against Boro – produced big goals – against Spurs, Arsenal and the scousers !! Just pushed out Tevez’s wonderfully crafted goal against Brum with his interchange with CR7!!
4). Ronaldo’s BackHeal against Villa. Beautiful epitome of the season. Imaginative! Delightful! Skilful! Magical Feet!
(I wonder if it had of been Henry or Zola the London press would of been so dismissive!)
3).Tevez’s Goal against Boro – architecture of the gods! Wonderful interchange of passes between Anderson/Rooney/Tevez
2).Scholes’ Strike against Barca – a brilliant reminder of what Scholes as consistently producesover the years. Great Man! Great Legend!
1).Ronaldo’s freekick against Portsmouth. Wonderful execution from25yds! Left James (probably best premier goalie of the season!) simply shrugging in admiration of brilliance!

3. Signing of the season;
You could argue VDS re-signing might be that!! In the end it would have to be between Anderson and Tevez for me. Anderson came in from nowhere when Scholes was injured! Wonderfully industry and technique! But Tevez’s industry, bullish skill and penchant for important Goals make him the signing of the season!!

4. Unsung hero of the season; Evra for me as been brilliant but largely overlooked by many. I’d argue that Carrick and Fletchinho on these pages deserve the claim unsung considering the abuse!!!! LOL! But after coming from a dreadful injury, Ji-Sing Park deserves the claim after he has replaced the legend Giggs with some energetic performances!

5. Key moment;
Scholes brilliant strike against Barca. 25yd Screamer from the Ginger Ninja!! A Barca loss may have been the season ender but this win gave them the momentum to gain an amazing Double!!

To add a couple of extra catagories......
Bitter losers – From Quadruple to nothing – Chav$ki
Amazing miss – Tevez missed a few but Carricks One Yard miss against Portsmouth in the FACup cannot be surpassed!!

Player of the Season - Ronaldo has finally learned how to harness his genius to the greater good of the team. His goals have been vital and he has been the difference more often than not. The best and most effective player in M16 -and in the world right now.

Goal of the Season: A tough one, because Nani & Ronaldo have scored some great individual goals this year. Even so, I'd have to go for a team goal - Tevez' goal against Middlesbrough - the experts said that Rooney & Tevez wouldn't gel as a partnership. Yet again the experts were wrong and this provided some proof.

Signing of the Season - No Djemba-Djembas here! The latest imports have all done pretty well, but for me, Carlos Tevez has to be the pick of them. South American players are supposed to be all about languid skills and indifferent workrate, but Carlos puts that myth to the sword. No-one has worked harder for the cause this season.

Unsung hero: Honourable mention for Michael Carrick & Patrice Evra, but this has to be Wes Brown. Playing out of position and seemingly on his way out of the club, he has turned in some colossal performances this year - typified by the Barcelona games where he was moved to centre-back and had to re-adjust yet again in the toughest of circumstances. Not the most gifted, but full of heart and commitment. He has earned my undying respect for his displays this season. Also great for him to have a season not ruined by injury.

Key moment: Again, a tough one, but I'd have to go for Paul Scholes' goal v Barcelona at Old Trafford. Rolled back the years and made us truly believe!

Player of the season: Has to be Ronaldo but the rest of the players were certainly not too far behind.
Goal of the season: I like Ronaldo's header in Moscow, it was so accurate.
Signing of the season: I would have said Tevez a couple of months ago but Hargreaves has shown so much heart recently that my vote goes to him.
Unsung hero: Scholes will always be my hero. He quietly gets on with the job.....a true class act on and off the field.
Key moment: Far too many but Van der Sar's final penalty save in Moscow brought me out of my comfortable chair in a flash.
I can't wait until next season...............

1: Player of the season
Cristiano Ronaldo – he has been Manchester United’s MVP and I think he has had the best season’s performance by anyone in a red shirt this century.

2. Goal of the season
Owen Hargreaves Match Winning Free-Kick against Arsenal – This goal was as majestic a strike as it was important, as it was beautifully curled up and over the wall and beyond Lehmann, and also it knocked Arsenal out of the Championship race and gave us the impetus to go on and win the double

3. Signing of the season
Carlos Teves – has had an impressive first season, winning the fans over with his hard work off the ball, and by scoring 14 goals including late goals at Spurs, Lyon and Blackburn. He has silenced the critics who said he couldn’t play in the same team as Rooney

4. Unsung hero of the season
Carlos Queiroz – The Manchester United Assistant, while not a player doesn’t get anywhere near the credit he deserves, as he is does more than just be United’s face to the BBC. He takes training, has been labelled a father figure to Ronaldo and has surely been influential in the great first season’s by the Portuguese speaking duo of Nani and Anderson.

5. Key moment
Ewood Park 19th April 2008 7.02pm – 1-0 Down to Blackburn with 2 minutes to go, a Nani corner was lofted in and Paul Scholes headed the ball into the path of Tevez who equalised against Blackburn keeping our 3 point lead in tact and the psychological advantage going into the final straight of the season.

The player of the season is Cristiano Ronaldo without questions. He was at the turning point when we started the home league very poorly after his suspension. He continue to carry us when ever we find things tough. His skills, courage and determination carry us fans in Africa running from one sport to channel to the other with our usual electricity failures. Two GOLDEN boots are also enough to warant him being unoposed for the player of the season's title.42 goals from a midfielder is clearly a mark that can't be ignord in any league around the world.I think basically these are some of the reasons why he shouted everywhere and you wouldn;t know this until you come with him to Africa.

There can be some kind of a debate between him again and THE bercelona destroyer our famous PAUL.Paul goal's against Bercelona was very key to our final success as it comes when all our detractors were hopeful that Messi and his crew were going to finish us especially after we were without two of our key squad members Nemanja and Rooney. But crist's free kick against Portsmouth was a goal watched and debated around the world by both fans and TV Sport pundits as the est in the history of the Premiership. It was so wonderful that scientist were involved in determining how he hits the ball.It comes in my dreams over and over as to how he kick the ball and the way it changed directions to the suprise of David Games.I have seen free kicks from Beckham, stoikov of Bulgaria and Hagi of Romania but this one still stands outstanding so much so that people are comtemplating to change the design of the ball. Therefore Christ's is the best of the season.

All the signings were very good but Anderson's is the best because he has helped destroy the midfield heros such as Fabregas, Lampard and Gerard.I can bet that in PAUL'S absence if we dont have the like of him, our season would have been shattered because we will not have any other midfielder to match these generals.Teves,Nani and Hargo were all replaceble in their own respective areas Saha,Giggs and Oshea/Fletcher respectively but who else can control the midfield from the Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea generals the way Anderson did.So his presence this season was very key and therefore should be qualify enough to be the signing of the season.

I would throw my coin between Brown and Evra as equal unsung heros for both of them have palyed a pivotal roles in there respective positions but Brown may carry my coin since he can be available fulfilling the expectations when ever the ned arose. He will keep his head cool when he is played at right back and would be wonderful any time any of our back bones Vidic and Rio are to be replaced. He has filled in Gary's shoe with out question that some of my mates were praying that Gary dont come back till the end of the season as it exactly happens.

Our key momment was at the start of the season when Rooney and Ronaldo were both absent for a couple of our early matches when some of our fans almost droped confidence that we will never make it up this season. But as soon as they came in things changed for better and that exactly led us to what we are all enjoying today.

BURAMA FABOU SANNEH, THE GAMBIA.

Johnny Ray sang 'Just Walkin' In The Rain' make it a tribute to John Terry.

"Just walking in the rain, getting soaking wet
Torturing my heart, by trying to forget.
Just walking in the rain, so alone and blue,
All because my heart, still remembers you.
People come to windows, they always stare at me.
Shake their heads in sorrow, saying, who can that fool be.
Just walking in the rain, thinking how we met
Knowing things could change, somehow I can't forget"

Stick that in ya book! Up the Redzza

Player of the season...Well this may seem a bit obvious, but that man Ronaldo surely must take this award. Over the past two seasons, this young lad from Madeira has matured and developed into one of THE truly great players of world football. And all this on the back of the 2006 world cup controversy.

42 goals in a season for a striker is phenomenal...For a winger, it’s unheard of.

However, special mention must go to a number of other players, especially Rio Ferdinand.

This season, he has been unbelievable for us, and must now rank amongst the worlds elite centre backs. Many fans did have issues with him from his early years (the drugs test and contract negotiations,) but this year he silenced all critics.

Patrice Evra is also a candidate for player of the season...This chap must surely be the best left back in Europe and the world. What a talent, and a great signing by SAF. If it wasn’t for the blistering form of Ronaldo, Evra might have taken this award. He has the lot...Solid in defence, and lively and creative in attack. His link up with the wingers is delightful.

Goal of the season again is open to debate. I agree that the free kick against Portsmouth by good old Ronny was exquisite, but my pick goes to Carlos Tevez's goal against Middlesbrough.

The link-up play with Rooney was a joy to watch, and such a nice finish. The partnership with these two players can only get better...Something for the rest of the premiership to worry about.

My personal favourite for signing of the season goes to a young South American lad by the name of Anderson.

When this lad joined us in the summer, his first game (against Coventry if I recall correctly) was a bit of a nightmare. But when the legendary Scholes was injured mid season, this lad stepped into the ginger prince's boots and filled the void impeccably. At 20 years old, there is a lot more to come from the new midfield general.

Mr Tevez again deserves a mention here, as the lad has scored some vital goals for us this season…Most notably against Blackburn Rovers at a crucial period of the season for us.

Unsung hero of the season in my opinion goes to Wes Brown. Fair play, the lad has his critics, yet he has played fantastic for us in some vital games. At right back, he is being played out of his natural position, but has put in some admirable performances for us, and let us not forget…it was his sweet cross that set up Ronaldo’s goal in the Champions League final.

However, Brown deserves immense credit for his performance against Barcelona. The defence was judged to be weaker due to the lack of Vidic, yet Brown stepped in, and against an irresistible attack, stood firm along side Rio, Evra, and good old Hargo.

The key moment of the season cannot be simply isolated to one event…There have been countless times where the team has been under pressure, yet stood its ground and fought on.

For this reason, I have given a top three moments in no particular order instead of just the one.

Tevez’s goal against Blackburn. Having fallen behind in the 21st minute, United began bombarding the Blackburn goal, only for old nemesis Brad Friedel to have a superb game. It looked like the game was destined to result in points lost for us, until the 87th minute when Tevez headed home a flick on from Paul Scholes to rescue a vital point for the reds.

2-1 against Arsenal. As someone has previously mentioned, this effectively killed off old Arsene’s title challenge, and gave the team the belief to go on and conquer the premiership.

After trailing due to an Adebayor goal in the 48th minute, the team was level in the 52nd min thanks to a Ronaldo penalty. Then, in the 72nd min, Owen Hargreaves curled in a peach of a free kick to kill off the tie.

Scholes’s goal against Barcelona. If a shot could speak, this one would mutter relief for the ginger prince after missing out on that memorable night in Barcelona in ’99.

This goal had all the hallmarks of a Scholes classic as he picked up a loose ball from Zambrotta, and thumped a rocket into the net of Valdes. This goal sent the reds through to their first Champions League final in 9 years, and a second chance at glory for a true united legend.

To be perfectly honest, being asked to select individual players and goals from this season is hard. Football is a team game, and each player is just as important as the next, and each goal as vital as those before it.

All that’s left to say is WELL DONE UNITED!!! PREMIERSHIP + EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS 2007-2008!

1. Player of the season: Well because of his phenomenous goalscoring record I'll have to say Cristiano Ronaldo.

2. Goal of the season: My favourite goal of the season was Wes Brown's against the scousers because he's my personal favourite, but still I would have to say that Paul Scholes against Barca was probably the best and most important one.

3. Signing of the season: For me this stands between three players: Hargreaves, Nani & Tevez. I'd propably rule out Owen, because he was the one I expected the most of and because he's been out so many times with injury. I think Nani has offered us a whole new dimension to our cornerkicks this season, as I think Giggsy's corners has been very disapointing this season. But all in all Tevez would get my vote for his dedication and teamwork. He surprised many with his excellent partnership with Rooney in the start of the season, and he works his socks off every game even if he's having a bad day. He's scored quite a few important goals as well (I just hope we can keep him)

4. Unsung hero of the season: No doubts about this one: WESLEY MICHAEL BROWN!!! He played more games than any of the other players this season ,52!! (he only missed 2 Premiership games), which is quite remarkable on it's own, considering his previous injury troubles. And he got a goal against the scousers as well, and of course yesterdays excellent cross for Ronaldo to head home!! Signed a new contract as well, and I really hope he can keep up the good work next season & keep his place in the team.

5. Key moment of the season: This is the worst to pick, because there's so many moments to choose from. I would say that the two we lost against City was the key moments this season, because of the winning streaks we had after those games. We won 11 out of 12 games after the away game, losing only to Coventry in the Carling Cup

1,player of the season for me has to be rio because of the way he has matured with the captaincy and he is always motivating the team,2,goal of the season a tough one, tevez v boro, ronaldo v pompey or nani v boro,ok then it has to be ronaldo hands down,3,signing of the season,no contest here its tevez born to play for the reds, never knows when to stop running and skill to match.4,unsung hero, for me wes gets this one as his best season for the club,no injuries been the key, reminds me of denis irwin always there whenever you need mr reliable in any defensive position, thanks for signing your contract wes.5,key moment, has to be scholesys goal v barca it reignited the team to win the double, scholesy we love you.

Player- Ronaldo. If ever a United player has had a better season I would like to have seen it. 42 goals in itself is outstanding but how many have been the crucial first goal ?? During the crucial period between Jan and March he just kept on popping up with goals and incredible performances. The best player I have seen in a United shirt by a distance.

Goal- Ronaldo v Villa. Simply due to the reaction and importance. Again the key opening goal but it was such genius that nothing else really compares.

Key moment- Tevez goal v Blackburn. 89 mins played 1-0 down. I truely believe had we not scored that goal we wouldnt have won the league.

Signing- Would love to say Anderson and I think long term he will prove to be one of the most important ever signings but when you look at the season and important goals and hard work Tevez has been a revelation. Just got to love him. For me he is better than Rooney.

Unsung- Has to be Wes. Probably been the best right back in the country this season. Simply outstanding. Always rated him anyway but he deserves the season he has had.

Player of the season - Ronaldo. Cmon there isn't even a chance of it being anyone. The wonder kid has been just brilliant!!

Unsung hero - There are the likes of Park who would be my contention. But I would have to give it to Vidic. They guy is the best defender out there. Everyone looks at Ferdinand but after watching how Vida didn't make a single mistake, I have to give it to him...

Signing of the season - All our signing have been out for parts of this season. Would have given it to Hargreaves had he played the way he was playing towards the end for an entire season. Anderson and Nani both started of brilliantly but weren't equally good after coming back from injuries. So it has to be Tevez for me. PLayed for the entire season and has probably changed the fate of United single-handedly.

Goal of the season - Hard choice between Nani's wonder strike against Boro or Ronaldo's free kick against Pompey. Free kicks don't get any better.

Key moment - hard to say really. Could be Nani's strike against boro again... we were in some pretty shyte form at the time. The tevez goal against rovers. or even scholes wonder-strike against barca... Can't decide

I have supported Man Utd since 1958, when I was a 10 years old. The reason for the European Championship win in the final was, at the end of the day, coaching, and specifically, Alex Ferguson. I have been stunned (negatively) during the season at some of his blind spots, like playing the immensely overated Michael Carrick...and if you question me, Fabio Capello does not (Carrick is a big ball, hit and hope guy). Fergie also has underplayed Hargreaves and Anderson. However in the final Hargreaves delivered big time, and his signings for this year, Tevez, Anderson and Nani were on the field as his choice, and struck their penalties sweetly. On the other hand, Grant could not control the Chelsea hotdogs, like Terry and Drogba. A red card, and wrong choice for fifth penalty striker, proved this.
Well done Sir Alex. It is a game of inches, and you delivered.

1. Player of the season: Ronaldo. Not only did he improve an already impressive goal tally - 42 from last season’s 23, he upped his overall game. He also scored some belters: his top corner arrow free kick, his cheeky back heel and his imperious header in the final.

2. Goal of the season: Hargreaves’ free kick against Arsenal due to its importance and its execution. It was almost ground height when it crossed the line and was so perfect the goalkeeper didn’t move.

3. Signing of the season: Tevez (if he is yet signed). His important goals and tireless running were magnificent. His contribution in the 2nd leg against Barcelona will long live in the memory.

4. Unsung hero of the season: Wesley Brown. From being Keegan’s possible first Newcastle signing to a key pillar in this season’s miserly defence. He had some crunching tackles and, for someone with poor distribution, several beautifully floated crosses, like the one for Ronaldo’s Champions League final header. He also lacks histrionics – a rarity.

5. Key moment: Giggs’ winning goal against Wigan. He has received much flak from fans this season and answered his critics by sealing the title and giving Utd an edge before the Champion League final.

fact for every city fan in manchester there are 2 reds.

1100 quid for a day out is a price that is beyond all but a lucky few no one can be suprised that both clubs struggled to sell their allocations. united still managed to have 2/3 of the stadium wednesday night.
