CRISTIANO Ronaldo has sensationally thrown his future with United into doubt.
Although seemingly happy with the champions, the Portuguese superstar is still seen in Spain as the ideal figure to re-invigorate Real Madrid.
And significantly, United's player-of-the-year on Thursday refused to rule out all links with the Spanish giants.
"I am happy here at United but let's see what happens after the Champions League," he said in a Spanish TV interview.
The 23-year-old has consistently repeated his love affair with Old Trafford but Real have also persistently made public their desire to land the 41-goal United ace.
Bernabeu president Ramon Calderon is prepared to be patient in his pursuit and his sporting director Pedrag Mijatovic has recently claimed the Spaniards want Ronaldo as the "new face of Real Madrid."
Reports have claimed Ronaldo's camp is seeking an early lucrative reassessment of the five-year United contract he signed in April 2007 after sweeping the personal honours for a second season running in England.
Fuel
And Ronaldo has added more fuel to the flames in a Spanish TV interview.
"I am feeling calm here, I feel happy. In the future I don't know. I have said millions of times I would love to play in Spain. But it is one thing to dream and reality is another thing.
"I don't know the Madrid club but they know how I play. I know other teams in Spain like my game as well. That is good to know. But I am happy with United.
"But it is nice to know other clubs are interested in you."
What do you think? Have your say.

On the other hand if we could get Ronaldo for £100 million then cash in. It would be foolish not to do so. He is replaceable. We would be able to buy 3-4 world class players. Players that are better teamplayers than Ronaldo. My choice is Benzema, Ben Arfa, Daniel Alvez, Ezequel Garay and Micah Richards. Players that could leave would be Ronaldo, Silvestre, Saha, Giggs(retire) and Chris Eagles.

Ronaldo is a big boy now and this smacks of immaturity - a come-and-get-me plea would be irresistable with 2 winners medals round your neck.
Chelsea must be pleased.

People seem to think that hes coming to the end of his career or something. He is a young lad and knows he has plenty of years to go before he can start thinkin about that.
I think he will go at a similar age to Henry after giving his best years to our great club.

Ronaldo has always stated his desire to play abroad sometime in his career. Hopefully it is later rather than sooner, but we have lost bigger and better players than him in the past (Cantona, Best, Law, Keane etc) and always bounced back.

Not sure what goes on in footballers heads really, surely Ronaldo must realise what will happen when he says things like this? Just goes to show how worthless contracts are nowadays though, if he decideds he wants to go he will be off, even if he did only sign a 5 year contract last year.

It appears that Ronaldo is intent on following in his footsteps. There is no media manipulation here, these are his words (in Spanish). He said that he will consider his future after the final (whether he plays or not), that his dream is to play in Spain. It's not his agent, it's not the media, it's HIM!
Every non red I know hates him and it's easy to see why with his constant theatrics and melodramatic protests every time he is refused a free-kick.
He is not stupid, or at least not stupid enough not to realise the impact his comments to a Spanish TV channel would have before the CL final: all negative for United, all positive for Madrid and Chelsea.
It's a shame because he is our star player but if we could get 2 top players to replace him; deco, Etoo, Benzema, Ben Arfa etc, the team could continue to grow.
Personally I think he should be punished by the club and left out of the squad for the final. We can win it without him and it would shatter his selfish dreams of winning the CL to be the best player in the world.
As we saw with Heinze, we don't have to sell....yet. He obviously doesn't remember the treatment that Becks and Ruud got, maybe he'd like to spend next season on the sidelines.
As Etoo recently found out that if you betray your club the fans will never forgive you no matter how good you are and that's the road that Ron seems set on heading down.
Of course I’d love him to continue to win games for us but I will never trust him again!

I can 100% guarantee he will be here longer than SAF and who knows after that.
Thomas you say take the 100m then we could buy world stars, ok so we sell him for that price, then how much do you think Benzema would cost?
Lyon would say VERY MINIMUM 50m as they would rightly state Ronaldo isn't twice the player.
People need to stop being so pessimistic. I am very confident he will be here for at least another 5 years.
