David Sadler (1968)

KENT-born, MEN Sport columnist was the most versatile of Sir Matt Busby's Class of `68.

Spent a large part of his United career in central defence but also equally at home playing upfront.

However, against Benfica, Sadler was picked in a midfield three alongside Pat Crerand and Sir Bobby Charlton.

And while he was one of the unsung Wembley heroes, his contribution shouldn't be overlooked.

Indeed, Sadler, who won first division championship medals in 1965 and 1967, was good enough to be picked for England.

Spent 11 years at Old Trafford before following what became a well trodden path to Preston North End.

An excellent reader of the game and good passer. 20

David Beckham (1999)

`BECKS' always considered himself as a central midfielder though most disagreed with his belief.

Due to the absences of Scholes and Keane, he was given his preferred role against Bayern.

However, it wasn't until the former Old Trafford idol reverted to his familiar role, wide right role that United looked dangerous.

On his day, no one delivered a better pass or a deadlier free kick than Beckham.

And in his pomp Beckham was just about the hardest working player in the United line-up.

Great lung power allied with an amazing will to win. His detractors say he lacked real pace and wasn't as naturally gifted as some of his world peers.

Another of the `99 squad who left the Reds after a bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson. Recently won 100th England cap.

Paul Scholes (2008)

`GINGER Magician' is poised to put nine years of hurt behind him when he lines-up against Chelsea.

Suspended for the 1999 final and so no one would begrudge him the last domestic honour missing from his collection.

Showed with his stunning semi-final winner over Barcelona how valuable he is to United's cause.

Scholes' is renowned for scoring spectacular goals but is just about the most complete midfielder in the Premiership.

Frank Lampard may come close but United fans wouldn't swop him for their 'little general.'Maybe not the perfect tackler but everyone is allowed one small flaw.

His decision to end his international career at the top was to United's benefit.

Man for the big occasion-Chelsea beware.
