UNITED'S Class of 2008 defend a proud unbeaten European final record when they tackle Chelsea in Moscow on May 21.

The Reds have featured in three Euro showpieces, including the 1968 European Cup success over Benfica and 1999 Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich, winning the lot.

To mark the event, MEN Sport's Trevor Baxter will contrast and compare the line-ups of the three teams.

And we want MEN readers to help us pick the best ever European Cup/Champions League final line-up.

I don't think we should get too excited about having an unbeaten record in European Championship finals, Chelsea also have an unbeaten record. Oops! they've never been in one my mistake.

Kingma, I think you missed the point - you're supposed to be picking United's best Euro 11 of all time - don't tell me that includes Carrick, ha ha, now that would be a good one!

Van der sar,ferdi,vidic,brown,evra,I would have Hargreaves on the right wing and scholes and Anderson in the middle.Chelsea like to knock players off the park so Anderson I feel adds some hardness to scoles knowledge.I would have Rooney and Ronaldo switching positions up front and Park just sitting off and hanging around the box as he is a great person to feed the ball to as he rarely loses the ball and draws alot of fouls as well as being good at feeding the ball through.Carrick,Nani and Oshea would be my next subs as oshea seems to come up with vital goals in these types of games and I believe chances will be small.Come on United lets belt these .........ers

Defense: Van de sar, Ferdinand, Vidic, Silvester, Hargo.

The rest: Scholes, Carrick, Anderson, Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney.

Chelsea almost always attack Evra's height whenever they play against us (via Ballack). Hence, I've included Silvester to deal with it.

Was Evra even on the pitch when Ballack scored his goals against us? I like most think it should be:-

No....They will go for a really carefull 4-2-3-1.

For entertainment would be the first choice but because this is a CL final and they never the best matches to watch I believe we will see a very careful match from both sides with a lot of respect for eachother. A bit of a shame as by using the 4-4-2 United would play their best team. CR's roll as a lonely CF doesn't allow him to produce the best of him. It was horrible to see the first leg against Barcelona and I hope United doesn't do the same again because they will be punished. United is a better team playing with confidence and attacking fottball, even if Chelsea is a better team in the middle of the field, United as a more attacking edge and should play their best players at their best positions.

if giggs plays, we will most likely lose. if we are winning and he comes on as a sub, we will lose. he should stay at home. he doesnt have any right to be there. he hasnt done anything to get us to this stage, so why should we play him?

RedRoss, I think that lineup might be close. It would be a toss-up for me between Hargreaves and Fletcher, depending on whether we wanted to play patient passing or not. My only worry is that SAF will find room for Giggs in the starting 11.

We have to get OH in midfield against Chelsea otherwise I can see the likes of Ballack and Essien blowing us away because its been shown time and time again our midfield struggles against strong, pacey teams.

VDS saves a penalty, Hargreaves is sent off with only a few minutes left of the 90. Extra time loom’s the score is tied at 1-1. Giggs is warming up on the bench and comes on for a tired looking Tevez. A loose ball from Makelele is picked up by Giggs just inside his own half, he skips past Ballack, then Essien, he only has Terry, Carvalho and Cech to beat, passes Terry, Carvalho makes a last ditch lunge which Giggs skips over, he just has Cech to beat. He Shoots……… Goal!!! AS IF!. Giggs will probably get 5 to 10 minutes. I agree with Chris we should play Hargreaves in midfield.

That's my squad.... Fergie will start Scholes and find some way to use Fletcher. His sentiment may costs us as it has before, particularly in Euro. I am afraid this game will go to the wire if we play our best/strongest team. Otherwise I predict an uphill battle.

I keep saying it but Hargreaves has to start in the final.We need his energy we have to many laid back mid-fielders which is where Chelsea will over run us.Come on Utd lets kick their Butt.

I'm concerned about Scholes and Park in the midfield against Lamps, Ballack and Essien ... they are too big too strong for them ... especially Scholes now, in my humble opinion.

Anderson and Harg must start this game but SAF will definately not start Anderson ... I don't know why!!

and find a spot for Saha if he's fit because he can score goals (5 for 10 starts) Subs : Kuscack,Anderson,Nani,Silverstre,Saha,Giggs,Fletcher. I agree we need to keep attacking, attack is the best form of defence.
