Vidic races against time

NEMANJA Vidic was racing against time to be fit for tonight’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

The Reds' Serbian defender was reported to have been rushed to a local hospital last night with a stomach complaint.

Vidic, who has just returned from a knee injury, missed United’s hour long training session in the stadium after feeling unwell.

He was later taken to hospital, where he remained for two hours.

He will be fine!! Saying that I would be confident that Pique would be able to step upto the plate anyway. He has done an excellent job in Vidic's absence. Please not JOS or Wes though!!!

It appeared Vidic may have been rushed back too soon judging the soreness he had after the Blackburn game. Maybe if Pique had played instead result may be to Utd`s favour. Remember it was Vidic`s interception that led to B`burn tking the lead.

Vidic when 100% is a great defender - A wonderful foil for Rio - but when hes not been fully fit he seems to be very nervy and panicky and it emphasises he has less ability On the ball.

Pok Singapore you may have a point there. We can only but trust the medical staff and managers assessment as to whether Vidic is fit enough to play.
Personally I would rather see a 100% fit Pique than an 80% fit Vidic.

I don't think Vidic will play tonight. Not if the rumours are true and that he has stayed overnight at the hospital.

I smell a Fergie doob to keep Barca guessing. Plus he may as well stay with medical pros for the night monitoring than in the hotel.

If he is out Pique has to step up. Some divided loyalty maybe as a Barca fan but he is a professional footballer. The onus will be on the forward players to give more defensive protection if Pique is out. So far he has not disappointed and in Europe the play is generally slower which can be better for him anyway. The problem is Wes also missed training.

On the basis that Vidic is out i would play Hargreaves at Right Back, come to think of it i think we should do that anyway.
My team tonight would be 4-4-2 VDS, OH, GP, RF, PE,at the back, midfield of Ronaldo Scholes Carrick and Anderson, Tevez and rooney up front. If we sit back and invite Barca on to us it could be a disaster, so i think we should attack and if we do could win 2-0

Utd are strangely quite on the whole Vidic situation. It's either a bit of mind games or else he really is struggling.
Hope i'm wrong but i don't think he's gonna play, Pique to slot right in and play a stormer against his old club!

whatever happens with vidic i hope saf is gung ho enough to play 4-4-2 and leave rooney isolated. i believe our threat is far greater from the front foot.

Well, if Vidic isn't fit then Pique has a great chance to show he made the right decision in leaving Barcelona. After the ridiculous yesterday hopefully we will see the sublime tonight - in our favour of course!
