The 23-year-old has been plying his trade outside of his homeland since December 2004, when he signed for Brazilian giants Corinthians. A move to the Barclays Premier League followed, initially with West Ham before switching to Old Trafford last summer.
And Tevez has outlined his long-term plans to return to Argentina to win another title with Boca.
He told Radio Del Plata: "I would like to play four or five more years in Europe. I would love this to happen at Manchester United and then go back to Argentina.
"I know I will finish my career at Boca. No doubt about it. I do not imagine myself retiring without winning one more title there."
In the meantime, however, Tevez is happy at Old Trafford and has nothing but praise for his team-mates as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title.
He said: "(Wayne) Rooney is a phenomenon and a great man. (Paul) Scholes is unbelievable. I see him every day. His quality and personality are tremendous. He is the engine of this team."
Tevez is United's second-highest scorer this season with 13 goals in all competitions, but the player himself feels he has still not reached his best.
He said: "I am playing at a 70 or 80% of what I can really do. I'm finding it quite difficult to get over each match. In the last 25 minutes, the level drops.
"I always do my best but it's difficult for me to keep this level."
The Argentina international feels so fatigued that he is looking at the possibility of not joining up with the national team for the World Cup qualifier against Brazil in June.
He said: "My body needs a rest. I have had no holidays for two years. I want to be calm, with my family, thinking about nothing for 20 days.
"Since the Copa America (last summer), I've had no rest. I will see how I am in May, when the season finishes."
What do you think? Have your say.

Think Tevez was a great addition to the squad in the summer and if we can keep him for 5years i would be well happy.
I think we need another forward up there thou, heard a rumour that Eidur Gudjonnson is available on loan that wouldnt be a bad shout.
Think its pretty obvious that berbatov will be comming in the summer, i would also get shot of Saha abd go for Jones at Sunderland he looks a good player and we could get him on the cheap if they get relegated.
Can understand him wanting to finishing playing in his own country, so don't have a problem with his comments. But want to comment on what I believe is the best attacking force in the world right now. Big statement I know but look at them tevez, Rooney and CR they have this amazing ability to be able to make things happen, turn games even when not playing that well....with their mobility, strength, pace and ability they are a constant problem to any defence and can even score goals when not playing particularly well! You can see why Tevez is enjoying his football right now and we are soooo lucky!
Certainly explains why he gets subbed quite often late in games. Perhaps he needs to stop chasing so many lost causes and conserve his energy a bit more.I wouldn't have thought he can be much ftter - we're nearly into February now! Of course, had Saha been fit he would have had a rest!
Carlos Tevez has Boca dream - "Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez wants to return to play domestic football in Argentina in "four or five more years.
"In other news, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, day turns to night and winter time is cold." ¬ _ ¬
fair enough carlos as long as you have helped us win the league, fa cup and champions league a few times before you go.
interesting to hear his comments about fitness - gerry maybe he needs a rest to get to his best fitness.

He wont get much chance for a rest as we only have two strikers
Ok thats fine for Tevez to leave in 4-5 years and to come out with that statement in his first year at the club ??? God help if Ronaldo would suggest such a thought.
Sell Saha to Liverpool. There he can do as much resting as he wants and the locals won't exactly complain about it. Carlos needs to win us some trophies before he goes back to Argentina.
Aurthur's Ghost, would you mind repeating that mesh of random rambling and bad grammar please?
Quite agree with what Tevez himself said - he has been playing well but I think there is a lot more to come from him and we have only seen glimpses of his true potential.
Yet another reason (as if we needed one) to get another striker in - both Rooney and Tevez are going to need to be rested at certain times but we have nobody to step in. Can anybody HONESTLY say they expect Saha to complete more than a handful of games this season? Should have sold him to Bolton for the reported 7m fee and got somebody else in as cover.
I know what you mean Lee - Ronaldo is doomed if he does, doomed if he doesn't...
Arthur's Ghost, Salford, illiteracy in this day and age is a crime. Go and get an education before it's too late. Ask for a leaflet next time you sign on.
Hasn't he made these comments to the Argentinian media? In which case it is understandable that he would say and I also believe he may want to finish his career at Boca. I would think that the reality is that he will wait until much later than four or five years time because the real glory and financial rewards are to be had in Europe and he will not want to spend the peak years of his career playing at Boca.
I can therefore see him going back to Argentina in his thirties. If he's given us a decade of service like the 8 months he's given us so far, I doubt we'll have any reason for complaint.
And I would have no problem if Ronaldo said he wanted to finish his career back in Portugal. That's a world away from the comments we've been subjected to suggesting he wants to play for Real Madrid. Moot point because thankfully CR is committed to United and the Madrid comments are just Real-fuelled media talk.
presumably Arthurs Ghost has now been taken back to the Loony Bin ,after his nonsensical rant .Dont let him out again!!!!!!
Poor Invisible Man ,throwing his dummy out on the city web because the balloon fiasco is taking the mickey out of the Berties .No doubt IM you will be the first on the United site when United lose a matchyou usually are.
Arther = the ramblings of a deranged mind.
He is a Boca nut so of course he will want to go back. I expect a bit later at age 30 or so but in the mean-time glad to hear he is happy as larry at OT until that time.
Arthurs ghost - buh? me no speako crackpoto
Well I've got a mate from Jamaica who said in 5 years time he is heading back home and setting up a business. That was 15 years ago and he's still here. 5 year plans are dreams to keep you going today. Must have been yet another rainy Manchester afternoon when he said it;)
Argentinian players are all very loyal to their mother clubs and maybe because they have an amazing league and passion for the game. Boca was a club involved at the world club championship in which I worked with them and they were no doubt one of my favorite of all along with Flamengo, United and Inter. I travelled a few times in their bus and they were amazing with their music and really warm people. Gaitan was for me the tournament's player an amazing talent at 18. It will be difficult for united or any british club to have latin players attached to their team until the end of their career. GB is a great place but the culture clash, language and the weather are a strong factor.
I don't agree that every single player as to defend as much as eachother. Tevez looses a lot of his energy by overworking some situations. He should learn to keep balance when defending by being a bit more inteligent using his energy. The same goes for Rooney even though I believe Rooney has a bit more petrol than Tevez he should also learn how to use it right. They loose some explosion moments when attacking by using them in defense when they should have enough cover from the midfielders as united doesn't use a nr:10. Maybe because he really wants to prove himself he overworks, you can see that he really likes Rooney and I go as far as saying that it´s all to do about Rooneys devotion to the team and fighting spirit... Tevez has also that.
