Giggs: Recent sceptics will have been silenced. Ball for Rooney in first half was a peach 8

I thought that the dive by Ronaldo was worth at least a 9.9......not sure where you come off only giving the best diver since Jacques Cousteau a 6.
I disagree with the ratings but I conceede that it might be down to my biases on players However I thought VDS-5 wobbling performance. Evra-7 brilliant once again. Rio and Vidic-7 not troubled. Wes-7 hope he signs a contract.Giggs-7 best performance of the season.Carrick-6 better from him and impressed with his attitude considering he wasnt supposed to be starting. Anderson-7 outstanding at times both defensively and offensively as ever he drifts out of games but he is only very young. A truely outstanding prospect. Ronaldo-7 gets criticised when he plays for himself and criticised when he plays for the team. Outstanding player on the pitch first half. His incisive passing belies his detractors claims. Key to both goals first half and scored a deserved fourth. Tevez-8 MoM non stop player who for me is a better deep lying forward than Rooney because he is more intelligent and a better passer of the ball with the same work rate. Rooney-7 much better performance and unlucky not to score a sublime goal.Fletcher and Oshea -4 we almost lost once they came on from a 3 goal lead !!
I thought Anderson raised the whole team in the 15 minutes before the first goal. Excellent effort from a young player. 6 is very mean.
On a very difficult playing surface ,in shocking weather, against a gritty Derby ,this wasnt exactly Rams to the slaughter. However United showed their class ,with Evra especially showing what an excellent full back he is.Another hard working performance from both Anderson and Tevez.Entertaining too for the 75,700+fans .
Totally agree with Stuart Mathieson. Giggs was star man and others like Tevez, Brown and Carrick all outshone Ronaldo and Rooney on the day for a change.
Can live with the ratings except for the incredibly inflated 8 for Carrick. I am not a Carrick detractor but his "fading into the background" disappearing act has become legendary. I was thankful for the slow pitch which seemed to bring the game back to his speed. Otherwise he seems out of league with his teammates but acceptable for Derby. Finally soggy pitch brings him up to a 6. That's all!!
Difficult game due to the rain-sodden pitch. Thought Carrick did well and was delighted he came in for teacher's pet Owen Hargreaves (who's not fit, can't pass the ball and should be sent back to Bayern). Not much else to else to add really, 'part from poor Fletch losing his boot! Ps Score without the Fletch 3-0, score with the Fletch 1-1... Brazilian off, Scottish person on, it's a disaster waiting to happen!
Tevez MOM: works a lot and scored two goals. Why didn't SAF rest Ronaldo after the break when the result looked settled?? He wasn't interested in the game and had a really bad game. The penalty doesn't help him out to get future decisions from referees. I don't think he means to dive( it comes naturally) but he did and it's not good for him. Anderson was again the builder and not the architect, I know that you all are pleased with him so am I BUT I saw him at a higher creative level so still not enough for me. When he was in Porto he could dribble and strike the ball but at united looks like he doesn't dare to chance it and for a 19 years old feels a bit sad with such potential. Football players as skilfull as CR, Nani and Anderson should let their creativity out at young age and mature with time, a bit like Ronaldo did. Football is becoming too demanding and young players are taking too much responsability. United and Arsenal are an example of young talents taking a lot of responsability: Rooney, Fabregas, CR, Anderson... I could go on and on. I'm not saying that is wrong but my point is how long will they last??
tevez's incredible workrate is an example to some of our other players the lad is incredible and not a bad player either. must give special praise to wes he had a very very good game today please note mr ferguson.
THESE RATINGS ARE RUBBISH.
Van der Sar 6 - Brown 7, Ferdinand 7 (O'Shea, 71 mins, 6), Vidic 7, Evra 7, - Ronaldo 7, Carrick 7, Anderson 9 Absolute our best midfielder ever. (Fletcher, 62 mins, 5), Giggs 8 (Saha, 64 mins, 6) - Rooney 8, *TEVEZ 9
I thought it was an average performance but then the weather probably had a lot to do with that.
We definitely wobbled after the introduction of JOS and DF which was a bit worrying.
Let's hope that the majority of these guys get left in Manchester this week to prepare for the Dippers whilst the reserves go to Rome.
Lee interesting perpective regarding Ronaldo; I can see your point and you might be right but for me he looked like he was asking to come out by the end of the first half. I also agree about Tevez; a very similair player to Rooney but seems to go for better decisions, still Rooney had a couple of briliant moments and was unlucky not to score. He seemes to be a bit frustated and his complaining might punish him. He will have to be carefull in europe as the referees have a bit easier to book him. Carrick had a really good game for his standards and maybe had the best match so far. A lot of people are complain about OH but I don't see any difference in his fotball now than at his best( maybe he is a bit off form because of his injuries)but he is not a top player, he does his job a bit better than Carrick but he is not among the best CM in Europe and United is among the best so a bit harsh on a him...His best match was against portugal both at Euro2004 and at the WC2006, after that he became an icon to English supporters and maybe because of that he became a target for United.
I have to say that having seen replays of the penalty that it was a dive from Ronaldo and you cant condone that. He has made a rod for his own back now because he had the support of most people on Monday but has ruined what people were starrting to see by uneccesarilly going to ground. I have to say though that once he won the penalty he had to take it. He is the penalty taker. Noone ever questioned Ruud taking them all or Cantona and Ronaldo has already let Saha take one when he is useless at them. Keep it profesional Ronaldo is a great penalty taker and as such takes our penalties.
What a pleasure to see a United with Ronaldo Tevez Rooney playing. They all have fantastic attitudes & I bet if Alex suggests a rest for them they laugh. Evra & Anderson again top players & Anderso close with Tevez for MoM for me both 9. Carrick was more forward thinking but if he cant do it v Derby who can he-7. Congratulations to Ryan he's had a lot of stick so far but as a true legend he still has a big part to play. I hope Wes stays but if reports are true he's being a bit cheeky.
Lee , Heywood, Heywood
I have to say that having seen replays of the penalty that it was a dive from Ronaldo and you cant condone that. Nice to see at least one utd fan who opens his eyes from time to time and not taked in by AF constent ramblings on how ronaldo is hard done by and never dives.
Is it just me or are these rating sometimes a little on the harsh side? I mean, I know it was only Derby but we won 4-1 despite the awful conditions. I thought Anderson and Ronaldo should have been given at least 7/8.
Riquelminho,
Normally I think the ratings are too harsh - giving players who have done reasonably well 5, for instance.
On this occasion I think they are not too harsh as it wasn't a great display. Maybe the weather had a lot to do with it but I was there and I don't think anyone sat near me in East stand was greatly impressed.
It was a pretty average performance against a team destined for the Championship.
A good win considering the conditions, but up to the half hour mark Derby was arguably the better side. We were extremely poor up to that point.
We weren't solid defensively (as little as we had to do). It was Vidic worst game of the season. He made alot of mistakes and gave away a fair few fouls. There was no need for Van Der Sar to come out like he did when Derby scored (how embarrassing).
Carrick was outstanding in the first half, clearly our best player. Not so effective in the second, so I think a 7 would have been about right for him. Anderson was hot and cold, however probably more hot than cold. He did well considering it was his first real taste of a Manchester winter at it's finest. He looks determined to succeed and I have no doubt he will.
I gave man of the match to Tevez. He gave his usual work-rate but with end product this time, although he would not have scored the goals he did against a better side. The room he got in the box for the second was ridiculous.
Ronaldo was poor throughout, which was a surprise against such a poor side where you'd expect him to perform. You could say he contributed to the first 2 goals, but Derby were the real contributors there with shocking defending. They weren't exactly what you'd generally call assists, from Ronaldo. His frustration was starting to show towards the end of the match when he hadn't scored, and clearly dived looking for a penalty, which he was always going to get because of the one he wasn't given against Fulham, and so much was written about it. It was a shame to take the hat-trick off Tevez, but Ronaldo does take the penalties, so he was within his rights to do so and take his tally in the Premiership to 9 for the season.
Good to see Giggs get the 100, and another good display from him.
Rooney is still a tad rusty and needs a goal to get him going again. I didn't think he played as well as some made out, although he was his usual commited self.
Players like O'Shea and Fletcher are a rarity in the game. They never complain and are always there to call upon, and always do a good job. Darren has played very little this season and really should get a bit more playing time, as his match fitness just can't be there. He should get a run out against Roma though, which is good. A very underrated player Fletcher is.
Overall it was a good 3 points considering we were playing ona bog, and another +3 to add the goal difference.
Liverpool and Arsenal losing topped off a great weekend.
Roll on the pool next weekend!!
The scorer man is obviously as past it as Giggs. Anderson was the stand out performer. His first half display was worth 9 on it's own. Where did Anderson get a 6 from? And whilst I'm on, Evra was a 9 also.
Second game in a row where we haven't set the world alight but the ratings would make you think otherwise! A little too generous all round IMHO.
Lee, i'm guessing from your comments that you went. Fair & a good reflection, similarly eddy too. I think the conditions had a big part to play - i know how bad it was just getting back to the car never mind playing football!!
I'm never one to big up ronnie as he's the best anyway (end of) but to the clown who said ron' had a bad game then you've obviously never kicked a bag of a wind before.
First half was tricky against a terrible football team who used the conditions and their superior physical strength to the max'. I couldn't see how we would break them down as passing the ball on that surface was particularly difficult. It was ronnie's dribbling, strength & cutting inside about 15 mins before the break that started to turn the tide, imo. Same at times with Tev & Roon. Often, Tev took the wrong option, held onto the ball too long etc, but his workrate was unbelievable & he did good things too. Roon looked rusty at times too but what do people expect & Lee is right we're better with Tev deeper as it's more natural to him & have roon up top.
Carrick & Anderson did go missing again at times but make no mistake they both played well. giggs did well 'cos he didn't give the ball away cheaply & his touch was good NOT because he made one great pass. Rio was unbelievably cool & quality considering the state of the pitch/conditions.
balders what about wes who along with tevez was our best performers on the day
Lets face it, the weather made the game what it was. Although i have to say i was very disappointed in Rooneys display but not as much as Ronaldo's. His body language throughout the entire game spoke volumes, and the booing he received for not letting Tevez complete his hat-trick well deserved. JOS, what a tradgedy!
I don't know! Fletcher gets a sub appearance and misplaces one pass (to Saha, when Saha stopped his run) and he still gets castigated by Lee, Robbo, eddy01, etc. I don't know what the boy's got to do to please you lot!
I thought Tevez, Carrick, Brown, Evra and Ferdinand were all very good. VDS was dodgy and cost us the goal (I'd rate him a 4). Giggs played well but I'd rate him a 7, as I would Anderson. Of the subs I thought Fletcher did well (6) but Saha and O'Shea were pants (4).
