Hargreaves stays with Reds

UNITED'S Owen Hargreaves has been ruled out for England's friendly with Austria in Vienna on Friday.

Hargreaves has only just returned to action after a long-standing tendinitis problem which he sustained while at Bayern Munich and eventually required an injection after his summer move to Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old was part of the Reds' starting line-up that defeated Blackburn at on Sunday but is still suffering some discomfort.

England coach Steve McClaren has discussed the matter with his old boss, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and it has been decided Hargreaves should remain in Manchester for treatment.

It is hoped Hargreaves will be available for the potentially crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia at Wembley on November 21.

Good news, no need for him to be playing in a somewhat meaningless friendly. If Russia confirm our fears, then he shouldnt play against Croatia either

Red John, it's just a friendly and they have lots of mid fielders. Just a precaution. Better for us if he isn't needed for Croatia.

I hope the ridiculous transfer fee we allegedly agreed with BM is linked to appearances. If not, the taking on of a player with a chronic injury (incurred before he joined us)is wasteful incompetance beyond belief. Heads should roll in the club's medical department.

but england aint gonna qualify anyway, so it doesnt makes a difference if he's playing or not.

can someone at men explain why they allow pond life eg ted knott of droysden to comment on MANCHESTER UNITEDS articles.

this is getting serious. carrick is back n the only serious game we have in month time is liverpool, i say rest him since then by then this knee thing should be fix, or just let him do the surgery and get it over with as we have ample cover. i wonder why we keep taking on these sick notes, de Rossi his just as good and dont get injured, i just hope possebom is as good as the hype.
hey guys what do u think of our scout system? i think its crap, cuz we haven't discovered any gems as yet, everyone one we go for even my grand mother knew about them except few.

I LOVE Ted Knott's comments. I cherish every one of his paranoid, twisted, petulant nuggets. I imagine him, sat in a cold house, on his own, with only a candlelight for company, muttering to himself about how fate has dealt a raw deal to city. Seriously, Ted, I worry for your health. I believe that we've now found a reason to go after Miguel Veloso, Owen Hargreaves, while brilliant on his day, still needs to be covered due to his injury pronness.

Ted, i think this is a bonus for England. The very fact that Hargreaves AND Rooney are out gives England a massive boost. We do better without them and that is a fact!

I never thought I'd say this
but since the Glazers took
over we've had funds to correctly stengthen the team
where necessary. Scholes and
Hargreaves both out, yet,
in Carrick and Anderson we
have more than respectable
strenght in the squad.

Yeah, what about Daniele de Rossi, he's WAY better than Velloso, but I doubt we'll end up getting another central mid-fielder in January as this is probably just an excuse to get out of this friendly and fair enough too, it'll give someone else like Gareth Barry (who was really good against Israel and Russia at Wembley) a chance and it's only a friendly.

Tedd Knott's possibly right but who cares?

By the way, England still do have a slim hope of qualifying.

Hargo is a real worry though with his injuries and new central midfield possibilities will all be being looked at, that's for sure.

Like I've already said to others the reason that no-one on this site waxes lyrical about the Glazers is because IT WASN'T NECCESSARILY HIS MONEY THAT GOT US HARGO, ANDERSON AND NANI, EVRA, VIDIC OR CARRICK.

He could've used money from our emergency funds that were alredy at the club before he took over and to get our three most recent signings he probably used money from the Sky TV deal.

I know I sound like Free Red but I don't care. These things have to be said.

The point is Barry, and Simon from Northern Ireland, how do we know how much of the money that has been spent on these players was money that the Glazers have brought into the club, how much of it was money that we already had at the club before he took over and how much of it is money brought in by the lucrative new Sky deal, merchandising and season ticket revenues (which have certainly increased under the Glazers along with "automatic Cup scheme revenues").

I know I sound like Free Red, but I don't care.

UNITED have strength in midfield.Whatever the permutation is it doesn't seem weaker only different.
All that hoo ha about the Glaziers arriving and things have improved.

OH has played terriffically well during his brief appearances in a United uniform. I can't help however looking at him and seeing a very "old" 26 year old. The body looks a little wornout at times. Great enthusiasm though and a tireless worker. Fergie will no doubt use him sparingly to prolong his effectiveness. With Anderson and Carrick and maybe adding another we should be able to get the best out of him at the right time.
