Chelsea charged for OT conduct

Chelsea have been charged by the Football Association with failing to control their players during their defeat at Manchester United.

Referee Mike Dean reported the club after at least four players surrounded him after he sent off Mikel John Obi.

Chelsea skipper John Terry tried to grab Dean's red card but the England defender has not been charged individually by the FA.

The club's assistant coach Steve Clarke has been charged, however, after clashing with match officials in the tunnel at Old Trafford following the 2-0 defeat.

The FA said in a statement: “Charges have today been issued against Chelsea FC and the club's assistant coach Steve Clarke.

“Chelsea have been charged with failing to control their players during their match against Manchester United on September 23. This charge relates to the conduct of Chelsea players towards referee Mike Dean following the sending-off of Mikel John Obi.

“Steve Clarke has been charged with using abusive and/or insulting words towards the match officials after the end of the match at Old Trafford.

“Chelsea and Clarke have until October 12 to respond to the charges.”

On Tuesday, Mikel lost an appeal against his sending off, which was a straight red card after a challenge on United full-back Patrice Evra.

He missed last night's victory at Hull and will be suspended for two more games.

What re they going to do, fine them? That'll learn em!

Should have charged individual players - particularly Terry - anything else is a limp tap on the wrist. But then what else do we expect?

Its a mans game, however they should take a leaf out of Rugbys book, big lads, no swearing, and TOTAL respect for the officials. Chelsea and Arsenal are bad losers, FACT.

the comedy hour continues. How many more charges against Chelsea will we have to endure before the FA take real action instead of the petty cash fine. I mean what if we had the rediculous situation with Terry (England captain) standing there with a red card in his hand. I assume he would have accompanied Mikel off the field. Or would he. This club is a joke and the FA part of their props.

Chelsea should be charged with impersonating a football
team. Their 1 - 0 victories
last season qualify as the
worst games I saw on TV.
I'd rather watch Blackburn
and their robust brand of footy than watch Chelsea.
Maybe their new coach will
instill football down there
instead of boreball.
Up the Reds,

the FA took the cop out decision, let the 3-match ban stand (unjustly IMO) against Obi, leave England captain Terry unscathed, and ignore the horrible tackle of Cole which was obviously aimed at Ronaldo and nowhere near the ball. Good to see English football is in such capable hands. Wait, wasn't there a fiasco involving a transfer this summer?
