That might sound a little daft, given that Tevez is clearly a fantastic talent, that United are not exactly over-burdened with strikers, and that the supporters are desperate to see what he can do in a red shirt.
But, for me, there is not a lot wrong with the team that finished last season, and all the new boys face a real challenge to nail down places.
Fans have been arguing over what their first-choice team would be, and it has become a difficult game to play. For what it's worth, here is my tuppenn'orth, given that everyone is fit and able to play.
The defence sorts itself out, with Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, even if Wes Brown, Jonny Evans, John O'Shea and Danny Simpson are pushing hard.
Complicated
After that it gets complicated. For me, the only new boy who steps straight into the team is Owen Hargreaves. He is older and more experienced than the other three, is more aware of English football, even if he has been plying his trade in Germany, and is exactly what United have been missing.
With Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick also in midfield, the other three would be Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
How that fits together would require some serious thought, but either Giggs or Ronaldo could play up alongside Rooney. I am not being sentimental when I refuse to budge Giggs to make way for one of the new boys, even Tevez.
Giggs and Scholes will have to be watched over the season and I am sure at the right times they will give way to the younger players. But for now a United team without those two is unthinkable.
How the midfield fits together will be interesting. Scholes played a deeper role for much of last season, but the purchase of Hargreaves may release him to play forward again. Once Tevez has adapted to life at United, he will come to partner Rooney in a very exciting pairing.
But my message to Tevez, and the other new boys - except Hargreaves - would be that this is a champion team, and you have to force your way into it.
What do you think? Have your say.

There is no such thing as a first choice team these days as it is horses for courses and it will be different for the premier, europe and the cups.

As a season-ticket holder (x3) you have so many intelligent things to say about United but because of the fact that virtually every post has a comment about Fletcher, it is difficult for people to take you seriously anymore.
Give it a rest for your own sake - in a squad with so much quality, Fletcher is hardly worthy of so much of your energy.
Not having a dig, I promise.
