Unsettled Heinze has been the subject of interest from United’s rivals Liverpool in recent weeks, with Rafael Benitez believed to have bid around £7million for the Argentina defender, thereby meeting a valuation agreed between player and club.
With the threat of legal action surrounding the proposed transfer, it is a situation that threatens to get ugly but Ferguson insists relations between the Red Devils and Heinze are fine.
“We’ve looked after Gabi very well,” he told Sky Sports News.
“He had his cruciate knee operation and we looked after him. We let him do his rehabilitation in Spain, which he wanted and I think he’s delighted at how we’ve treated him.
“We’ve conducted ourselves in a way that suited Gabi perfectly.
“I think that if we could take away the agent’s role in this I don’t think an awful lot is wrong with Gabi’s position at the club.”
Ferguson also insisted that the left-back could have helped sell the club to potential new signing, Carlos Tevez.
Tevez is another player around whom legal wrangles linger with his representative Kia Joorabchian announcing he will take the case to the High Court.
The West Ham striker has complete negotiations with United, something Ferguson believes Heinze could have helped with.
“They have been away with the Argentina team. I’m sure Gabi’s told him what a good club it is. There’s nothing else he can say about Manchester United from his own experiences.”

"The lads going away proved themselves," Ferguson told the club's official website. "Giuseppe scored nine goals in 16 matches for Parma and the consensus is that he kept them up. Everyone says that.
"Gerard played 24 games for Zaragoza and did exceptionally well. We got all the videos of the players and watched what they did in training. They will certainly come back.
"Hopefully now we have a strong enough pool of players. That's one of the reasons I was keen to get the young lads who were away on loan last year back at the club.
"They will develop better with us. They may play more regularly away on loan, but training with us and being part of the squad brings them on immeasurably."
Hopefully that isn't another form of double-speak and it actually means they will be staying at least for this season.

Regarding Heinze, i don't think he'll be going to the dippers, i mean why would he? wouldn't that be a step backwards?
SAF has probably made him well aware of the lack of transfers and the history between United and the scally's.
I wouldn't be too bothered to see him go to anyone else though. £6.8M is a decent enough sum for a defender who lacks pace, imagination going forward and is only loyal to himself and Argentina as this whole soap opera has shown.

There are no grounds whatsoever for the headlines that they will be staying.

They expect this new stadium to put them on par with us, lets face it, it will never be OT. their just moving to a new stadium with no history and no new trophies to put in the cabinet, just the ones they won years ago.

They'll never catch up.

Mind you, a lot of the best debates on here have been started by half-baked theories and views, so carry on!

I also think the timing is interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if, behind the scenes, a deal has already been struck for Smith. This means Fergie can offer a pubic display of support for Rossi, without alerting potential suitors for Smith that he is already surplus to requirements.

I wonder how many other Utd players are closet Reds??
I think ManU underestimate the pulling power of the Mighty Reds!! who told Dirk Kuyt to join the 5 Times European Cup Winners because their fans are great?? Ruud Van Nistelrooy!!
The new stadium plans are out today and i have to say im very very excited!! Uncle George and Uncle Tom have appointed HKS who have done 30bn of construction and redevelopment of stadiums in the past to build it, and they will ensure the new design doesnt resemble Old T

The lawyers are being drawn into this by LFC and/or Heinze's agent, nothing to do with United!
All United are doing is saying they don't want to sell a player that is under contract to the club (a contract that is not under any dispute, High Court or otherwise, in case you insist on making your ludicrous comparison with Tevez)
As for the pulling power of your "Reds", Tevez was 6 years old when you last won the league. Which explains why he never thought twice about any other clubs in the North West.
