Anderson in Brazil squad

UNITED'S new South American star Anderson is set to become the club's next fully fledged international.

The 2005 FIFA World Under-17 Championship player of the tournament is included in Brazil's squad for the defence of their Copa America title starting in Venezuela today.

Anderson hasn't been capped at senior level and there have been concerns he won't be granted a work permit for not playing the requisite number of international fixtures.

However, the 19-year-old former Porto favourite is in line to make a debut against Mexico.

Brazil haven't picked AC Milan ace Kaka or Barcelona legend Ronaldinho for the competition.

And that could open the door for the new Reds player who is thrilled by how is career is unfolding.

Speaking before the tournament Anderson said: "My career I owe to my family.

"From starting well at Gremio, later going to Europe to joining a great club like Porto and now making an even bigger step at 19 to join Manchester United is incredible," he enthused.

"Everything will be different in England, I know that. But I am certain I will adjust quickly to life in England.

"In just a short time I have managed to impress for the Selecao and win a place in the squad for the Copa America.

"I am proud, as is my family. For me, everything is new, it's a dream come true."

Meanwhile, United have been linked with the next Brazilian teen star, Renato Augusto.

The 19-year-old Flamenco midfielder is reported to have turned down a 10m euro move to France. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are also keen.

But, having signed Anderson and Nani, future purchases by Sir Alex Ferguson will have to have the experience to step straight into Premiership action.

has anyone seen them in a united shirt yet?? henry took a day to get into his new kit and im sure we signed these guys weeks ago??!! it will be good to see anderson in action!

Justin, we haven't signed anybody yet. The players should be signed in the first week of July, except Anderson who hasn't been granted a work permit yet.

Word is Anderson won't make the starting eleven tonight. Brazil team is Doni (7-1!), Maicon, Alex (new Chelsea player), Juan, Gilberto, Gilberto Silva, Mineiro, Elano, Diego, Robinho, Vagner Love. Will Anderson make up for Kenyon's mistake with Ronaldinho? Scolari says Anderson will be one of the best in the world in a few years. I say he will be our star in the future, not Nani.

Does anyone aware of how young was Messi, Kaka & Robinho when Barca, AC Milan & Real Madrid recruited them from Argentina & Brazil?.
Does anyone know how much Messi, Kaka & Robinho are worthed now for their club?
So, please tell SAF...don't let RENATO AUGUSTO slip off his eyes. It is hatefull when knowing Barca, Milan or Real could get the next wonderkid of Argentina & Brazil. Be agressive SAF. Just contract the Renato Augusto and if he can't play this year at EPL, put him under reserves / academy at first.

Not sure what you mean, Alf. Was he carrying a few extra pounds? Don't like the sound of that. At least if Brazil get knocked out he'll have a longer pre-season.

Robbo thats incredibly unfair when we've gone out and spent £50m on 3 potentially world class players!!! Theres a good chance if you read behind the lines its simply HE WANTS liverpool when you look at the arm-band thing and the Liverpool-spanish connection. I'm not a fan of the glazers but i prefer to be fair...

JonyB-), you've got a point here mate. I'm of the opinion too that Torres wants a move to Liverpool. Had he really been interested in coming to Man Utd he would have pushed for a transfer long long back. Moreover a team with so many Spanish players + a Spanish manager would probably attract him more than Man Utd.

Oni Andoko, I've read some reports about Man Utd being supposedly intersted in Renato Augusto. However all that I've managed to gather about him till now is that he is a young, big and strong Brazilian midfielder. Any more information on him?

Alf yeah I agree. I think Anderson is naturally big like Rooney on steroids but a pre season at United would not do him any harm. I predict he is ready and WILL make a massive impact this season. He is fast and incredibly strong and has a football brain similar to Rooneys. He looks a class act.
