NEW signings Nani and Anderson today penned five-year deals with Manchester United.

Portugal winger Nani and Brazil midfielder Anderson, currently playing for Brazil in the Copa America, cost a combined £30million when they joined from Sporting Lisbon and Porto respectively.

Polish keeper Tomasz Kuszczak has also finalised his permanent move to Old Trafford after completing a season on loan from West Brom.

Nani, Anderson and fellow new arrival Owen Hargreaves will be officially unveiled to the press in the near future.

Meanwhile, United have stepped inot a new era by unvieling their new home kit for the 2007-08 season.

It's allright, the job is done. Now what about a world class striker? Why did we let Torres reinforce the scousers? He's the type of striker we need, speed, goog header, excellent technic, young. It's very disappointing to loose him to one of our title rivals. I stil expect unite to sign a prolific striker (Huntelaar)

spencertea, Liverpool at not title rivals - only Chelsea are IMO. The Scousers may well strengthen but so have we and they finished a LONG way behind us last season.

Because he's massively over-priced and (IMO) very over-rated. After spending a big wedge of cash on Nani, Anderson and OH we were never gonna sign Torr-ient-es.

Utd seem to have been courting Torres for 2 years. If the prospect of playing with Rooney and Ronaldo (to which can now be added Nani and Anderson) in front of 76,000 didn't turn his head then so be it. Meanwhile Liverpool has become the New World for Spanish footballers so who can blame him? Maybe this will make all the difference regarding Rossi's Man U career. If so, Torres has done us a favour.

Good to see both of them sign 5 year contracts - should be excellent LONG TERM investments. Now i still think we badly need to sign a new striker - someone reasonably priced like anelka would be ideal (and realistic) for utd - getting rid of smith and richardson and 1 or 2 others along with signing a new striker and i think we have a quality squad - cant wait for next season....

Roy, mick and alias, couldn't agree with you more on each of your comments.

Liverpool are a very very long way to being considered serious title contenders, regardless of what hanson and lawrenson try and tell us each year.

Toress or not toress, the title is definately out of the question as far as the scousers are concerned.

Besides, we've just spent 50m on three top players. If we don't buy anyone else, we will still have the best first team and squad in the country come august.

This could be rossi's chance to show us he is good enough for united. Buying a striker would most definately lead to him leaving the club. I think he deserves at least one season to prove himself in the epl.

wot do you think to the new kit? has anyone noticed that sly is missing from the team photo? could it be a sign?

we didnt pursue torres more because he aint that gud is too expensive and obviously doesnt like the pressure of a successful team!

great to finally have these boys signed up! lets rip it up this season and cause beautiful chaos :)

the other day he (Anderson) was a world-beater. He is only a kid and will not be some unstoppable football machine. Rooney and Ronaldo are unstoppable football machines often enough but Rooney was effectively absent for the middle of the season wih a strong finish and Ronaldo ended the season weakly after an unbelievable 9/10ths of it. If you expect Anderson and Nani to walk into rainy Manchester, chomp on steak 'n' kidney pudding, chips and gravy and then take the Premiership by storm you will be disappointed. If you realise we have in fact just paid a lot of money for 2 kids who need time and training you will be happy. A year ago some muppets were calling for Ronaldo to be offloaded in favour of the latest flavour of the month, Aaron Lennon. Now questioning if he could go on to equal Best. I do expect Anderson to make more of an impact than Nani in the early stages. Then again I might be wrong - Rossi might be the one who plays more and does better. He already knows the facilities, the staff and the other players. Even Dong might surprise everyone and make an impact from the sub bench. One thing for sure is I am looking forward to the coming season

Been talking about Anderson on another thread. He was poor last night. But so were all his team-mates. Apart from Robinho, who completely refused to pass the ball but had enough quality on the ball to end up nabbing himself a hat-trick.

Yeah Mick I'm sure that in a composed United squad let´s say without O´shea, KR and even Fletcher, Anderson will find easier to adapt and his talent will be all over the pitch.
Yesterday he played in a position that was quite new for me, I prefer to see him like the real number 10. Listen Mick the PL is much above the portuguese league, no doubt but our top three clubs could easily be part of favourites to join the top 5 in England if they were in the PL. What I want to say with this is: if a guy like Anderson do well at a top club in Portugal when hardly played half season and the club sells him for a huge ammount of money and the supporters are still sad about it than he really needs to be a speciall player. As I said before; it was a excellent deal in papper for Porto but I'm sure it will even be better for United .

Well last night everyone was rubbish for Brazil so no point in blaming Anderson. Other night he was brilliant for them. So leave him alone.

Secondly, 25 mil for Torres. His best scoring season has been 14 goals. I know he is a very good player but i dont think he is worth 25. Get Huntlaar. 70 goals in 2 seasons. Rossi scored 9 goals in 18 games for a struggling team like Parma against Italian defences and he will be "free" :-)))

I think I have worked out why we havent made a move for a striker yet. SAF stated near the very end of the season, that we will be going for players quickly and quietly this summer. What happens though when your number 1 target is at the centre of a legal wrangle regarding his very validity to play in the country and also regarding any interested parties. Well what happens is that you have to wait until the case is over. This is why I think nothing has happened yet. I really do think it is Tevez so SAF isnt really bothered about Pool getting a player with less quality than we are possibly getting.

Nice new kit, innit? Simple, and not that more cherry-red colour like last season. I really hope they hold on to Rossi and Pique. They're not going to get that much dosh for either one and they both deserve a chance. Even if Smudger is slow as a carthorse, he's still got the kind of attitude you're never going to get from Saha. Tevez would be perfect, but 30M quid is a lot. I can't see Fletcher or Richardson getting a whole lot better unless they play regular football somewhere else, so it seems logical to sell them.

i agree meatman, Anelka is a class act and would fit perfectly into our team, we could raise enough cash by selling certain players who are simply not good enough to wear the shirt ie Richardson, smith.

yeah Anderson wasn't great last night, but then again neither were Brazil. every single forward player seemed to be doing his own thing, dribbling all the time until they were tackled etc. Anderson looked a little lost in their 'formation', if you could call it that. Ah well, the guy has missed most of the season and needs to get back into the swing of things. I hear he was very good when he came on against Mexico though!
