The club initially had an application for a permit knocked back on the grounds Anderson does not have enough international caps but United today won an appeal against that decision.
It means the attacking midfielder, who signed from Portuguese side FC Porto last month, will be part of the United squad for next season.
The club said in a statement: "Manchester United is pleased to confirm that the club has been successful in its application for a work permit for Anderson."
Talent
United's representatives attended a Home Office panel of experts yesterday where they argued that due to his exceptional talent he should be granted a work permit and that only his youth had prevented him from obtaining the requisite number of international caps.
Indeed, Anderson only made his full international debut for Brazil in the early hours of yesterday morning in the Copa America match against Mexico.
Anderson said earlier this week: "To join Manchester United at 19 is incredible.
"Everything will be different in England - I know that - but I am certain I will adjust quickly to life in England.
"I am proud - and my family is also. For me, everything is new, it's a dream come true."
What do you think? Have your say.

The FA had nothing to do with the work permit issue.
It was in the hands of the Home Office.

I watched him in the Copa too. Made a big difference to Brazil when he came on and seems to have great vision and an eye for a killer pass. He didn't have his dribbling or shooting boots on but I've seen these aspects of his game when he played for Porto.
I was impressed by Nani in the U-21s but I reckon Anderson, of the two, is the most likely to make a breakthrough next season.
If nothing else he would be a hell of an impact player to have on the bench. Which is something we've been crying out for over the last couple of seasons. Happy days!

Have we been sleeping, as it seems Liverpool are on the verge of signing Fernando Torres!!!! What a tradegy it would be if he went there!

Also, watched him in the Copa - Brazil's best player in the second half. Other good news that night was that Alex was cr*p, except for his headers from corners - hopefully him and Terry get in others way.
Bring on the season already.

Dittos on the Anderson euphoria. In which part of the NC mountains do you live? If you're over Asheville way I'm sure you have a regular group, but if closer to Highlands, Franklin or Cashiers and don't have a regular match viewing crew of your own you are welcomed to join our ever expanding gang of neer-do-wells for some matches in Clemson, about 45 minutes southwest of Highlands. We have a die hard Citeh fan from Manchester who is over here at the University as well a Scouser who was in their youth system for a while and an uppity Chelsea fan who, to his credit, is a pre-Roman fan, so we call him the Etruscan. You're welcomed any time.
