I thought Chris Eagles was MoM and would give him an 8. Unfortunately I have to agree with the 5 for Ole, he was well out of it. I was surprised he wasn't given the armband - maybe that would have given him more purpose.
Very undecided about Dong. At first I was disappointed and didn't see the same natural striker instincts as Rossi. There were touches of promise here and there but he needs another year - maybe at Sunderland.

Ratings as a whole are a bit of a joke and these are no different.
Take the Solksjaer comment: "The Norwegian didn't really make much of an impact - 5"
Well if he didn't make any impact why does he get a "5"?
Why can't he get something lower? It sems "5" is the cut-off point.
I don't remember Solksjaer even touching the ball. Oh yes, he did, just remembered, and he duly gave it away immediately each time it came to him. Perhaps a score of a "3" or "2" or even "1" would've been more appropriate.
Agree also with what was posted here about Dong. He was hardly impressive. In fact he looked totally lost. I've seen him on two-close season tours and whereas he showed a nice touch for his goal in Aisa, in South Africa last year he looked very inept. Like he had not progressed at all.
He needs plenty of high-level games before he looks the part in the Prem. Fergie will not give him the luxury to find his feet by playing him up-front week-in week-out, so expect him to be shipped out to some other side in England to learn the rough and tumble side of things. (And never come back.) The way Essien muscled him out last night, when he was in front of Essien, with a clear run on goal was amateurish.
Yet he got a rating of "6". A "0" would've been too kind.
What about Richardson? He looked rubbish in midfield and played like a schoolboy at full-back (a rubbish one at that); slicing the ball everywhere, clearing it into his own team-mates and not even looking where he was kicking it most of the time.
Yet he got an 'average' "5".
At best he warranted a "3" for his midfield contribution and no more (and possibly less) for his defensive antics.
Actually this is a waste of time.
Let me go do something else.

Also, I think Eagles deserves a 7 at least, he was a livewire all game! Definitely our most active player, was a threat going forward, and never shirked his defensive duties, getting stuck in and helping his mate Kieran Lee.

kk was so bad, near the end of the game everyone wathcing had started laughing at him, he had gone beyond the point where we had an ounce of confidence in him, i now hope i never see this guy play for utd again.
Eagles, what a performance, seemed to be everywhere, with his attitude he will def play many more games for utd.
Dong, i had waited sooo long to see him play, for me his attitude is not right, the moment rooney came on we actually had someone harrying and putting defenders under a bit of presure, dong at no time chased anything down, NOT HAPPY the bells toll for dong.

But to really make a judgment you need to see players like Dong alongside first teamers, not like yesterday when none of the starting eleven would have been there in a real match when all is fit.
O'Shea and Brown are good squad players and can fill in at several positions.

Kieran Lee has been our best reserve all season and played really, really well for the first hour. He faded quite badly in the last 30 minutes but that's to be expected, he's played very little competitive football in recent weeks. Definitely one for the future.
Chris Eagles also played well. He had some poor touches in the first few minutes but, once he settled, put in a decent display. Not sure if he will turn out to be United quality but definitely worth holding onto. Hopefully he can go on loan next season, ideally to a Premiership side, maybe Sunderland?
Kitkat was terrible on crosses but he is a superb shot-stopper. He's a big unit, so hopefully he can learn to command his area bettter with the right coaching. Again, worth holding onto but should be sent out on loan next season, with Foster coming in at number 2.
Dong just doesn't look like he's enjoying his football. He's looked the same for the reserves all summer. Totally different player to the one we say on the tour last summer. He also took ages to settle at Antwerp but he did eventually go on to make a big impact. I wonder if he's just home-sick? By all acounts he was superb for China in their recent WC qualifiers. He does seem to have something about him but I reckon we'll have to be very patient with him.

On the positives, you didn't mention Wes, who was fantastic, typical Wes (will therefore have a stinker on saturday)!
Mick, Dublin (10/05/2007 at 12:42)
And I didn't mention Wes because we already know he's a brilliant defender. He just confirmed that last night.

V.True about Wes, he really is a top player, just bad luck seems to follow him at times (eg the citeh 'penalty')

United has: Carrick, Scholes,Fletcher,O'shea. Apart of Scholes none of the others would have a chance to fight for a place there.
KR really poor, Kuszack fantastic and dangerous, Smith( sell him), Let Sol go next season so can be remenbered for the great achievs at the club. To be honest the only one stable was Brown.

Essien, Terry, Bridge, Ferreira and Makalele are all integral members of Chelsea's best XI (you could argue the toss about Ashley Cole but Bridge is a better player). Kalou, Diarra, Wright-Philips and Mikel are fringe players but have played a LOT of games this season.
We didn't have a SINGLE player in our starting XI who would be guaranteed a start for our first team. Fletcher, Brown, O'Shea, Smith, Ole and Heinze are fringe players. All the rest were kids.
And we went to Chelsea's home ground and came away with a point. Which says it all.
It's pointless to compare Chelse's strongest area of their squad with our weakest. How about comparing strength in depth in defence, or up front, if you're that way inclined?
