CUP REPLAY: Sir Alex

SIR Alex Ferguson insisted the Red Devils got their just reward by battling back in their exciting FA Cup quarter-final draw with Middlesbrough.

The Manchester United boss told Sky Sports News: "There was a good pitch - everything was in our favour but the goal on half-time brought Middlesbrough back.

"But we never gave in and we got our deserved equaliser.

"The name of the game is to keep winning and that is the best energy enhancer of all time."

Ferguson denied Manchester United were in the driving seat following the draw, saying: "They (Middlesbrough) are still in the cup too and we will approach (the replay) the way we did today.

"We'll use our squad in the right way. We'll start utilising the pool."

We didn't need another game and we should have finished them off early. 2-0 would have broked their backs but we let them back in and all credit to them for a strong performance. Again, I thought Ronny had players wide open on some of his runs and while I acknowledge the danger he creates, he could be even more effective by releasing Rooney or Giggs sooner. I think Giggs will be having a word tonight. He and Rooney looked to be in good scoring positions on some of Ronny's runs. Heinze has lost it and if Evra isn't fit I would put O'Shea back there and play Giggs or Park inside. I think right now we need Park's energy and drive. What is the word on Evra? We will beat them at OT.

We deserved to be 2-0 at half time. Very fluid display but we missed scholes.

I have never known a team have so much luck which has lasted 6 games. Is this a record for any club? Another poor ref I'm afraid.

We have to use our squad - Fact!
We did of course deserve the equaliser and looked to be able to win, at the last!
IF CR had the same awarenes/ vision as Giggs/ Scholes he could have enabled us to make the winner close to the end!
OK, that would have been great but alas another day!
The ref was for me not great, showing poor judgment often!

Great Cup-tie and very good atmosphere!
Better than any recently at OT!
This was helped by the 'extra' Reds that got tickets!
We played a better game than any of last 4/5 games!

After today's chelsea escape against spurs I'm starting to fear that their quadruple dream is maybe about to happen!

saha rocks - pluses and minuses for us from the Chelsea comeback. Pluses - 1. the fact they conceded three goals at home to Spurs (who have a poor away record) shows how shakey they are at the moment. 2. they now have an extra game to play, to match our extra game. 3. I think Spurs will beat them at the Lane. Minuses - 1. Psycholgically, the comeback will give them a boost. 2. They're still in the competition.

Overall, I think Chelsea are being found out and that team spirit of theirs will only get them so far.

Guys if you had a choice between City being relegated or Leeds being relegated, where would most people vote.
I look at City and I ask are they a better team than West Ham, Charlton or Sheffield and it's a tough call.
Chelsea had their first squad out today and leaked three goals at home also I thought Spurs would be able to deal with the barrage of long balls but Drogba is one heck of a target and Chelsea are relentless. 3-1 it should have been done and dusted. Dissappointing but they have to travel to spurs while we are at home.Please give us the draw we all want.

Colin i would agree with you regarding Ronaldo. I think its the final part of his game that needs to improve. He does sometimes choose the right ball and he's definitely got better on this, but as you say there are times when he should release when he doesnt. He's only 22 though and i suppose thats the part of a players game that comes as they get more mature. I think particularly in games where its not going for him, or when he's being doubled up on, when a simple ball is probably the best option. When SAF says hes going to use his pool of players, i'm hoping this means Smith. The lad needs playing time, and i think he should have come on for the last 15 mins on Saturday

just rewards indeed; best team on the day; they werent in it the first half goal apart. Totally improved performance over the last few games nice to see some fluency back again; hope we can recall rossi its not 1 of these sesason long loans otherwise apart from sticking ronaldo up front we might struggle. Totally on fire and his probable future position anyway; a prospect of ronaldo and rooney as a pairing could be devastating!!

Yeah i think we deserved at least a draw. still think kit kat is a bit vulnerable on set pieces. Proven by him taking rio out without gettin near the ball. Nice goal by wazza but he didnt turn it on like i thought he might and ronnie did some nice runs but should have passed a few times rather than shooting.
