Shuker spent a successful, if somewhat lean in terms of goals, spell at Rochdale earlier this season but is still nowhere near the City first team.
And having also enjoyed loan spells with Macclesfield and Walsall, the 21-year-old could set out on another spell away from Eastlands.
Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan has confirmed that the Nationwide Conference leaders are interested in the Manchester City forward, saying: "Chris Shuker is one of a couple of options we are looking at.
"The lad has a great future ahead of him in the game and if (manager) Mark (Wright) and myself were to take the matter further, it would be on a temporary loan arrangement.
"However, we have a couple of other players that we have identified."
Has Shuker got a future with City? Have your say.
