Are you having a laugh 7th richest in the premiership and we cant afford to buy any one what a joke
Rich based on turnover only..next year + 30 million we will have a 90 + mil turnover.
Saw last night on SSN they put city as a top favorite to be the next club to be bought by overseas buyers.8 out of 10 chance.
All i would like is a professional owner who grabs the club by the scruff of the neck and sorts out the first team from the reserves down we are OK but woeful from reserves up
All the clubs in front of us have one thing in common: they have recent European football which is a big money spinner. Therefore despite no euro football we are still in the top twenty. We have the biggest incomings of any non-euro club. Therefore why are we so broke???
Which part of' Keegan spent all the money and we're still paying for the contracts he handed out' do you not understand?
We are NOT the 17th RICHEST club!!!! Why do people always say this?? We have the 17th highest TURNOVER!!! We also have high costs, especially wages and interest payments, which eat away into this revenue. Hence, we can't afford top players. These figures are misleading. Always have been and always will be. Saying city are the 17th richest club is like saying Bob the Builder is the best music artist, just because 'he' had a number one. Its pointless even writing an article about it. It means nothing.
Tells you all you need to know about statistics. And just look at that gap between 16th and 17th.
Well doesn't this just rub our noses in it.
Where's the money going Wardle ?
Bit of a conundrum here isn't there. 17th 'richest' club in the world & cannot afford to buy players? I would dearly like someone from the club to explain this to me.
17th richest in the world, then why only bosmans and loans ?
I should also add that we are still paying for the CoMS refit which spiralled way way over budget. Any idea who's remit the stadium move was?
So what hope have we got when gates and that income start to fall?
well, that speaks volumes!
I suspect that, if all the people who say they won't renew their Season Tickets actually dont, that we wont be in the Top 20 in a year's time.
Dave look outside the box mate. This garbage league is done purely on money coming into the club - ignoring what is going out of it! It is not a true reflection - where the biggest clubs are those with the biggest profits - of which we are not one!
How can a club be seemingly totally broke and yet achieve that position,a position I'd be happy for City to have in the league table come end of season.Could we be the "Scrooge" of football clubs in disguise with millions stashed away and not spending anything?
we wants to do it on the cheap...simple as that. not that much ambition(well, forgot, we TALKS ambitious) time for city to come clean: there will not be any takeover, there will not be any new exciting new signings for next season. if the board did just that, then we will not feel so let down. facts is facts. lies is lies. cant go on like this i am sick and tired of it...
It's about income not profit or cash Dave.
Someone somewhere is telling a few porkies me thinks. The fact that we leave trying to sign Mido till the last minute to save paying his wages throughout January speaks volumes.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to emulate Fred the Red on this one. 17th richest club in the world? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Why are we the richest club in the Prem (outside of the top clubs with European interests) ? Its simple, because in real terms, and compared to most other Prem clubs during the last 3 years WE HAVE NOT SPENT ANY DOSH !!. In fact we have sold players in order to look this good on paper. This is not because "the right players were not available" or "we do not need any other players" No, again the explanation is very simple. This City board are not willing to spend a penny piece if they can avoid it. Why ?, because they are holding tight in order to make the club an artificially attractive property, which to sell on at the earliest opportunity. They want to maximise their own profits, sell up, and disappear with their new found riches. That would be fine as it would get us a new set of directors with a vision, and financial stability to attract quality players to supplement our existing squad. It would also persuade our best players to stay with us. Meanwhile the fans have had to endure 3 years of stagnancy and are now expected to witness another excrutiating end of season debacle, will SP leave ?, will he be sacked ?, will the side enter the relegation race ?, will our best players leave in the summer ?, will a new buyer ever be found ?, will the missing 10 thousand fans come back?, will the side ever play entertaining football again ? These uncertaincies are not welcome at this OR any stage of a season. But be very clear regarding who are to blame for this mess. This board are playing with high stakes just to feather their own nests. Its a gamble with only one set of losers. THATS US, THE FANS !.
17 of the 20 are regulars in the chimps league!! where are city fighting relegation with a manager who has another job!!!
Not heard 1 ex player or pundit who thinks it is a good idea for SP to do this (they cannot all be wrong)
Incompetent commercial management (Villa get a £25m shirt deal!) and poor financial management (including policy of paying high wages rather than transfer costs - you can't sell on a non-performing player with high wages!). Oh and don't forget fat bonuses for chasing around the world on expenses not finding a credible investor! === Come on Wardle you would not have put up with this at JD Sports!!!
Nefyn blue, Stockport
I've only read the first few lines of your post. City are not rich because they haven't spent any dosh. Please don't post rubbish like that.
This is just Turnover for the previous year, not profit. If our expenditure is more than our income, which it is, excluding out going transfers, we are not making money. It is a fairly reasonable amount, considering we have under achieved for 30 years, have had no real European football to speak of, and are run by idiots... that is the good news for any investors. The bad news is, we dont own the Stadium, which will have some limited impact on potential investors. Plus, the debt is probably off putting, to potential investors also. however, 25 mil of the debt, was due to the Stadium relocation, and this should pay itself off over the coming years, with the extra attendances. If we dont loose too many fans first..... We live in hope.....
This listing will no doubt bring out all sorts of daft comments from people who do not understand finance or accounting etc. This league is based on turnover i.e. gross income. Unfrotunately City have been run in such a way that they lose money on normal trading and have large debts. This is why they have no money to spend. That's the bad news and it really is amessag people should have taken on board by now. The good news is that City can produce top 20 turnover despite not being successful. So if they were well manged they could generate an even higher turnover, make profits, and reuce their debts, which is why a major investor might actually make a play for them sooner or later. I do beleive that there is a good business case for City but the board need to be out there making it. And before anyone goes on about not owning the stadium, I think that is irrelevant unless you want someone to buy City for a property play, and even Red Al has publicly and correctly said that is not what we want.
