Manchester City

Manchester City 0 Blackburn 3

TWO stunning goals from Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen helped bring the curtain down on Manchester City's recent revival.

Pedersen struck before half-time with a powerful header, and then followed up on the hour with a sweeping free-kick before sub Matt Derbyshire completed the triumph in the 90th minute.

It could have been a different story for City if referee Phil Dowd had spotted a clear handball from David Bentley before Pedersen had broken the deadlock.

After Ishmael Miller replaced Trabelsi in the 75th minute, Friedel punched clear a hooked half-volley from Vassell from just inside the area.

Hughes brought on Matt Derbyshire and Paul Gallagher for Nonda and Tugay in the 79th and 84th minutes, and it was the former who completed the win in the 90th minute.

Pouncing on a high, hanging ball from deep inside the Blackburn half, Derbyshire shrugged off the challenge of Stephen Jordan before beating Weaver with a precise finish inside the left-hand post.

What do you think? Have your say.

Bobbins .... The players need a good kick up the behind because they're just not interested in wearing the blue shirt of Manchester... I blame it on Pearce myself with the total crap signings of Dabo, Corradi, Samaras and Dickov... Bye Bye Pearce....

The recent performances have covered up the inpet tactics. Pearce and Wigley came across 3-5-2 won a few games and now we even play this formation at home. Hughes knew what tactic we would play - did Pearce vary it - NO!! Pearce you are clueless and will take us dow this season!!

Jordan is hopeless. Why sell Thatcher when we have no replacement apart from Jordan? Why did we play 3-5-2 when we had no Barton? The players just did not fit the formation. Why is Sturridge at least not on the bench? Trabelsi was clearly not fit. Samaras must start in the cup. Sorry if I sound negative, but after going to the game, I am afraid that I don't have anything positive to say apart from that Vassell and Ireland were fantastic.

Something of a wake up call to some of our complacent clappy bretheren methinks. What can you say? The team selection was dreadfully negative again (anyone that picks half hearted lightweights like Jordan and Trabelsi as wing backs, in a midfield that also includes equally immobile and slow individuals such as Dabo, and an out of position Sinclair, is surely never expecting us to create anything) and the standard of football, as 'twas against Spurs and Bolton, and truthfully for long periods against Everton and both Sheffields, was simply attrocious. It got better after the break, but virtually everyone I know was asking the same obvious question, namely why weren't Samaras, Miller and, to a lesser extent, Beasley, on from the start? There are 92 clubs in the football league. City lie 92nd in terms of goals scored at their home ground, and 89th
in terms of the number of times we've scored 'nil' this season. Come the summer, if we are still in this division (and that's still a reasonably big 'if' in my opinion, despite what Bertie Blue Nose and one or two other club stooges would have you believe), there is going to have to be a major shake up in the backroom staff at Manchester City, or we are going to be playing our football next season in front of crowds of around 25,000 instead of 45,000. Can't hold Pearce solely responsible for the dreadful stuff we're watching at the moment, rather he's probably just doing the limited best, an excruciatingly inept Board will allow him to. An absolute apology for football, and I will be looking anxiously over my shoulder from now until May, and praying to God that Joey Barton doesn't cop for a serious injury, cos if he does, there ain't no way we're going to make it to 40 points. Shocking

HAPPY CLAPPIES WHERE ARE YOU... HAPPY CLAPPIES WHERE ARE YOU!!! RELEGATION A POSSIBILITY - PEARCE OUT NOW - SIMPSON (TRUE BLUE) IN NOW = ATTRACTIVE FOOTBALL!!

Please, please ,please sign a goalscorer, we should be pushing for Europe, not looking over our shoulders again cos all the other results go against us. If there is no signing we could (but shouldn't) get dragged back into the mire. Outclased today by a much better footballing side, let's not waste the good results of the last few weeks, please JW beg, borrow or steal the money for a striker who can score goals.

Just goes to show how much we need a left back a left sided midfielder and 2 new stikers. If we can add this quality we will be top 10 if not then it s going to be a case of if we are worse then the rest

Horrible. But at least it has happened before the end of the "Transfer" window. If there really is any money available, which is doubtful, perhaps this will persuade the board that they really must spend it. We are now only a tiny margin away from our true position, which is 15th. At least it isn't in the relegation zone, but what an undignified way to crawl into the new era of TV money. We have to have a lively striker, who knows how to score and not pass back to the goalkeeper. And of course all the positions where we are lacking have been covered over and over again. Playing 5 at the back and a holding midfield player may scrape us a few more points, but it has now been shown up as the desperate tactic that it always seemed. I'm afraid Jordan just brings nothing to the team, and we really do look poor if we are outnumbered in midfield. But any striker will struggle if he only gets the miserable service that we provided tonight. Please Mr Pearce, spend the next week sorting this out.

Get rid of Pearce now before we go down - what awful first half tactics - Hughes knew we would play 3-5-2!!!!! What a joke watching Pearce, Wigley and Flowers wondering what to do at 0-3 down - useless and must go NOW!!

Report This Reply

Just got back. There are 4 players who just should not be allowed to pull the shirt on again, whether we have replacements or not. Corradi, Jordan, Dabo & Sinclair. Not good enough. We were bossed, at home, by Blackburn. Blackburn!! Dross. Not happy and not optimistic.

Okay I know this going to surprise you all - but I am finally convinced that Pearce must now go before it is too late. I would recommend that the board appoint Paul Simpson to provide open attractive football rather than the negative football that Pearce provides
