Coco out but Blues chase Kepa

CITY have ended the trial of Inter left back Francesco Coco after two days.

The 30-year-old left back is currently with Inter but started his career with Milanese rivals AC. As well as having loan spells at Vicenza, Torino and Barcelona earlier in his career, Coco was loaned to Livorno for the 2005/06 season.

City maintain an interest in Sevilla's Spanish striker Kepa Blanco Gonzalez even though West Ham are now thought to be favourites for the 23-year-old's signature.

What position do City need to strengthen during the window? Have your say.

Apparently, it has been officially decided that he is joining us. Not sure how accurate this is, but thats what a Cahrlton website is reporting. Have to wait and see I guess. Also, love the way Pearce will give this guy a 'glowing report' even though he was obviously complete bobbins! At least Pearce knows we desperately need another left back - Jordan just aint up to it I'm afraid.

Its on a charlton fan site that last night that seville and kepa had chosen city as his destination over west ham and charlton. We would look better to him with our league position and the stadium. If his agent is smart he will tell him to come to city because the strikers we have are useless and carnt score any goals. The site said it had been anounced in the last hour (about 8pm) but no other site has it. Apparantly we are after blackstock from qpr. Some of the best news we could get this window is micahs comments and joey apparantly going to leave willie mckay and go to another agents in london.

Thought this kepa deal was supposed to be sorted yesterday,it needs to be sorted one way or another before its too late to try and get someone else in.

left back is a must have ! , creative/technical left sided midfielder is must have ! we all know that vassel nver has been a confident finisher, at villa he always chose the wrong option, at city he's the same.. lets face it who-ever happens to be a striker at city, they are sure to be starved of service, given that we dont have the personel to deliver the 'killer ball' or the 'guile' to unlock a defence. but for those who think that more strikers will solve our lack of goals, go bargain basement and get david healy ... pip..pip..

It was reported on Charlton Ath web site last night that they had lost in their race to sign Kepa and that it was said that MCFC had won the race. So here's hoping...

bubba, i think Vassell has done well, i forgot how quick he was... Yes i know he is not the best finisher, but his pace takes pressure off Samaras, Ireland etc... who can finish, it all about the team. Lets get behind city, 3 points on Sat and the league table really is looking good...

Just bring one Mr Sturridge through to the first team and be done with it.... hat trick last night... the young lads are serving us well and long may it continue! Credit to the youth team coaches!!!

Vassell was starved of service on Tuesday night Bubba! I'm not really bothered if Kepa Blanco signs or not, his scoring record even in the reserves at Sevilla is ordinary at best. I might be proved wrong, but not the answer I fear. Ellington from West Brom might worth a dabble and fetch Koumas with him.

only 3 points of europe. this season could turn out to be the complete opposite of last season. start poor finish great. lets hope anyway

Why not look at Konchesky at West Ham. He can play left back, wing back or left wing - he's young and West Ham have just signed Lucas Neill

Having watched West Brom the other night I would put in a half million pound bid for Kevin Phillips. He was sharp, looked fit and has a proven goal scoring record, and I'm sure he's hungry to prove he can still do it at the top level. Also, Benayoun at West Ham might be an option as the ball playing midfielder in a 5 man midfield. Lets kepp the Faith. CTID

How about enticing Zidane out of retirement for one last swansong!

Agree with Stuart, Rugby that
Konchesky is worth asking
about. His history with Curbs
is not good, but I fear that we
can't afford him.

Bubba? Guile? Killer ball? How many one-on-one chances did we have on Tuesday? Admittedly, we put none of them away, but they only arrive via 'killer balls'! If we had somebody up front to put them away......

We need players in three main areas, A Goal Scorer/Poacher, A left back/wing back and a creative midfield player. Given our budget, why not try the following, Billy Jones - Untested at Prem Level but SP has been taking a good look at him for a while and he should know a good left back when he see's one, OR, Paul Konchesky - Solid defender and supports the play well, Danny Murphy - Only plays probably 1 in 3 of Spurs games due to their numbers in midfield and has an eye for a pass and an eye for goal, he would deliver far superior Free Kicks and Corners than Barton, Hassebaink - I think his aggression and power would be good along side Vassell. So what was so bad about Coco in the flesh that we didn't notice before inviting him for a trial ? It must have been bad as that must be the quickest 1 week trial ever. I've always fancied Danny Murphy at City but heard recently he's got a reputation as a trouble causer - anyone know anything ? What about a punt on Lee Hendrie on a free (nothing more) ?

I'm not too fussed that we're not getting coco, because he obviously must have been really bad. BUT, doesn't anyone remember that SP said 'i feel we have enough cover at left-back' despite selling Thatcher. So why does he then try to sign a left-back. Is everything he says to the media a lie??? It's a bit odd.

I have this on very very very good authority - I can't reveal my source but please keep this to yourselves - nobody must know - we aren't going to sign anyone!!

Also for left wing, why not try a punt on Matty Etherington? Now that Boa Morte is at West Ham he may be surplus? Well worth a go in my opinion. CTID
