Etuhu loaned to Rochdale

CITY youngster Kelvin Etuhu has joined Rochdale on a month's loan.

The 18-year-old striker has been a regular for the reserves this season and will look to experience first-team action at Spotland.

Etuhu is the second Blues youngster to go out on loan in the current transfer window following joe Hart's deal at Tranmere, report the club's website www.mcfc.co.uk.

i think its a fantastic move for the lad. He's at the stage now (18 yrs old) where ideally, you'd like him to be playing regular competitive football. Ok, he's been in the reserves, but it doesn't have the same competitive edge as playing in the football league has. i feel it was always going to be unlikely for him to break into city's 1st team this season, especially with sturridge ahead of him and not to mention that we will probably buy another striker in this transfer window. i wish him luck.

Hopefully this is a sign of Pearce toughening him up ready for a go at the premiership!!!

Great move. I am all in favour of loaning out our youngsters to give them first team experience and keep the wage bill down.

Pleased for Kelvin, it will do him a lot of good. Just a pity the same opportunity isn't coming to Danny Sturridge. The poor lad seems to have been injured most of the Season, and hasn't been seen much recently either. Even more than Kelvin, Danny needs to get out and experience the hard outside world, before Pearce will dare risk playing him in our now regular battles in the Premiership. Until that happens, all of you calling for him as the saviour will just remain frustrated, like I am.

Yep, good luck to him. Hopefully he'll come back a better player. At the risk of sounding condescending, I've got a soft spot for Dale too, so I really DO hope that it works out well.

Interesting rumour in the Mirror, Bruce to offer Dunn as a swap for Dickov? Probably a load of tosh but who would get the better deal if it did come off? Maybe we should go for Etherington now that West Ham have signed Boa Morte? CTID

Whoops! Just noticed Etherington has gone to Fulham as part of the deal, great business by Fulham that!

what is it with everyone saying the reserves sin't as competitive as football league?

90% of teams in the reserves are mad eup of players that would get into most premiership teams...

would be nice to see him playing int he FA cup this weekend, but i guess it's not to be!

Excellent. Rochdale have always been my second team since I worked for them for over 6 eyars... They are really struggling this season and now Keith Hill is manager, hopefully they can get some quality players in and turn things around. Its also great experience for young Kelvin, who can see the extremes between City and Rochdale and it will give him the desire to try his hardest for Us.... we should loan out more of our youth players if it is beneficial.

Flood, Croft, Shuker, Whelan, Bischoff etc were all loaned out and left City. Onouha, Richards Ireland have'nt been loaned out and are in the first team, there is a pattern to all of this, I think it's make or break time for Etuhu, if he doesn't shine at Rochdale he'll follow his brother. I wish people would realise there is a massive difference between first team and academy football and kids that shine in the academy don't necessarily make it at first team level, BWP for example. I do however think Sturridge is exceptional.

Good posting FG. You could add Schmeichel to your list as i think he is likely to be a casualty of NW's resurgence.

rob, cant see the etherington to fulham thing anywhere! If he hasnt then your right could be worth a shout, could be some pickings at West Ham,they may need a new start at a new club!!

etherington HASNT gone anywhere, boa morte was brought in as not only cover to the injured etherington but to play upfront or on the right aswell.the only way we even would get linked with etherington is if west ham go down which i hope they dont.
