Mourinho has argued that his Chelsea reserves side should be allowed to compete in the Championship.
The Chelsea boss claims that the FA Premier Reserve League is not competitive enough, a view shared by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who recently cited that as the reason for sending out so many of his young players on loan.
Fergie claimed that reserve-team football was little different in standard from youth-team football.
However, Pearce believes it has proved a very good education for the home-grown youngsters who have progressed to the first team from City's Academy, as well as a vital way of building fitness for players making their way back from injury.
Asked about the future of reserve-team football, Mourinho said: "The reserve team competition should finish, it is nothing. At the moment our best kids are playing at QPR. It is better.
"Do you know where the Real Madrid reserves play? In their version of the Coca-Cola League."
However, Pearce disagreed, adding that City would not be pushing for permission to field a B team in the Championship.
The City boss said: "At this club, I take the view that if you're not playing in the first team, you should play at least once every two or three weeks in the reserves to keep fit."

Who knows? In a couple of months Micah Richards could be playing alongside Shaun Wright-Phillips in Chelsea's reserves!
So Why can't they set up a Premier reserve league, They could play the 90 minutes before the real thing and give us some value for money on gate prices
Agreed Stu,so why doesn't Haman play for the reserves?
If the FA changed the substirute rule and reverted to one sub there would be 80 players freed up to play reserve football and the standards would improve. This would also benefit the clubs that arn't quite as wealthy as Chelski. Who would be kicked out to make way for Chelsea reserves? Imagine the fuss in Leeds and Wolverhampton.
Easy for Mourinho and Fergie to say when you have the money to spent it on whatever player that seems fit to buy.
No more benefits for those two clubs. The idea is as ridiculous as both protecting the divers in the team.
