Sun ready to shine again for Blues

CITY defender Jihai Sun is poised to give Stuart Pearce a selection boost by making his long awaited return from injury.

The Chinese international has missed the Blues stuttering start to the Premiership season due to a hamstring problem.

He's tried both conventional treatment and Chinese medicine to resolve his injury.

"The physio says it must be a world record for a hamstring injury," grinned the ever-cheerful Asian ace.

"But I'm back in training and hopefully will play for the reserves, maybe next week," added the 29-year-old.

Whether he'll be fit enough for Tuesday's home game with Sheffield United reserves remains to be seen.

Gigg Lane

A more realistic target could be a Manchester Senior Cup tie against Bury on October 25 at Gigg Lane.

Sun's versatility has certainly been missed by City boss Pearce, despite the growth in stature of England Under-21 star Micah Richards.

"Micah has done brilliantly for the team and if he carries on with the same form then he will be a (senior) international for England," said Sun.

"It's been frustrating for me missing so much time but hopefully I will be back playing soon. I cannot make the manager's decision for him but I'd like to play for the reserves to get match fit.

"And then if that goes well I'll be back playing for the first team. The manager has asked me many times how I am getting on.

"He knows I can play in different positions: right back, left back and in midfield. And it's good for the team that there is competition for places."

as if this season isn't going to be difficult enough with the squad we've got, the last thing we need is this one back in the mix.

Oh no, something to look forward to not.

I do think Sun is City's most underrated player; he was, for example, City's most accurate crosser of a ball last season. He is a useful guy to have on the bench because he allows the manager more flexibility in his tactics; for instance, if he'd been there yesterday, he could have come on instead of Reyna and gone to left back and allowed Micah to join Joey in midfield and produce greater drive from there.

Heaven help us if this is all we have to look forward to. We`ve managed to get rid of Sibierski - time to get Sun, and Reyna, off the books a.s.a.p.

As if things weren't bad enough
with Dickov in the side, here comes that other bundle of 100% effort. A headless chicken who will run all day with no end result, just what the team needs.

Can someone explain to me how Sun Jihai coming back from injury is likely to give the manager a selection problem, I cannot for the life of me see where any problem would be!.

Get yourself fit super Sun

We haven't looked, felt or played right since you've been injured. Some good pairings on the cards now - you could be doing those galloping overlaps with Ishmael or Micah in a few weeks time, and then we'll see some sparks. COME ON CITY

Oh 0h! Responded first without checking the comments of the reds we seem to have on here all the time now. Listen carefully, I will say this only once - when Chelsea were stupid enough to pay 22 million for SWP it was for one reason, and one reason only. It was because Sun made him play like a superstar. Sun's still here, and he can still overlap - on either wing. If any of our youngster's has the common sense to jump on the waggon, Sun can do it for them too.

Wigan Blue, Sun cannot even make himself look good, never mind anybody else....that comment of yours was laughable, and all I get called is a red because I don't think we have 25+ world class superstars ready to fight for their shirts here.....wow, what a putdown there ah from yourself and all the rest, a red!!, I can do better than that myself.
