MICAH RICHARDS: Signed up

RISING City star Micah Richards has settled any fears over his City future by signing a four-year deal understood to be worth é15,000 a week.

The 18-year-old has been attracting admiring glances from a number of Premiership big-guns, with Tottenham and Chelsea linked with the central defender.

He is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the top-flight and, after making 16 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign, will be pushing for a regular first-team spot at City next season.

Hmmm, let me see - what do you reckon our opinion of this will be? Absolutely fantastic news day for City. 1 good (Barton) and 1 future great (Richards) player commit themselves to the club for the foreseeable. Ok, so contracts these days aint worth much, but its win-win for us as it will at least mean we get plenty dosh if they are ever sold on. Its obvious Distin is going Pompey, so if we could just get 2 or maybe 3 more players in before the season starts then it would be a superb summer of re-building IMHO.

Absolutely quality getting Micah signed up! Finally City has made some progress! Now all we need is Distin to sign and a left mid and we might not slump when hit with injuries as we did last season. This season could be a little more interesting!

Best news of the summer without a doubt. With Barton also finally committing and the new signings so far, i am actually starting to get excited about the new season. As far as Barton is concerned, I, like a lot, was naffed off at him, but he has now signed and I will support him whenever he puts on that Blue shirt.

Got to say, what a great day to be a Blue! And for an old misery like me to say something like that, then it must be good! All we need now is a quality left winger, preferably with searing pace, and this will have been our best close season in terms of incoming transfers in some time, particularly seeing as we ain't exactly flush with cash. I'm off now to celebrate on the Rag's site to ask if fake Ronaldo and Ruud will be signing new deals shortly!

I am expecting BIG things from this lad, The best younster to emerge from the club since Paul Lake & yes i include SWP in that assesment !. Quick, Strong good in the tackle, good distribution, can play in different positions & can score goals !. What more do you want ?.

Great news. It gets better and better. We've got Richards and Barton signing new contracts. Dickov coming back to the club he loves. A couple of signings in the last fortnight. Dunnie made captain. All of a sudden City is starting to feel like a "good news" club for a change. There is a good vibe in the air.
The club has protected itself with this dealas well. Even if Micah left on a free transfer we would get masses of compensation for having him until he was 22.

Excellent news!! I suppose this means the departure of Distin is imminent. I personally will be sorry to see Distin leave but Micah and the other youngsters coming through like Miller and Sturridge have to be the way to go for us.

Well done Mr Pearce for securing this player and sorting out the Barton mess. In particular for not paying that s-umbag McKay a penny on Barton's new deal

brill news for city , Barton and Richards both sign , now we need to get a versatile defender and a left sided midfielder. i think Onouho Richards Dunne Jordan should be the starting back4 against chelski. we so need cover for the back 4 though.

This is great news. He is a great prospect, up there with Lakey and Shaunny. Hopefully Micah will stay with us for a long time - as SWP should have learned, it's better for him to play for us than get swallowed up in some soulless club like Chelsea.
