Blues complete Mills deal

City have secured the services of Southampton central defender Matthew Mills on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 19-year-old, coached by Blues' reserve team manager Steve Wigley when he was in charge of Southampton's youth academy, is an England Under-21s international.

LOL at Lomas. Was just thinking that myself. Its a shame that this story and the Samaras one has been overshadowed by 2 players leaving. Fowler at least has loyalty to Liverpool and I respect that. Barton just showed that he is a pure mercenary who'd rather destroy his career than pass up an opportunity to extort money. After everything he's done he's damaged goods. Very few clubs would even look at him. Handing in the transfer request is proof that he hasn't grown up. Where does he think he can go? United? Newcastle? Arsenal? Benitez and Mourinho don't want troublemakers at any price.

I believe he cost in the region of ??300,000.

apparently he cost 300K so not bad as it is said he is an excellent centre back and is keeping nedum out of the u21 side so if he is better than him then its a good signing. All i can say is a 19 and a 20 year old signing on the las 24hours and not a 33 and 34 year old like we usual sign then its good news to me.

I hope the board and SP realize what is blatantly obvious to the supporters...we need midfield players!! If our lack of signings in that category mean the money is all dried up, Stu will have to come up with another clever Bosman or two this Summer.
