Bury 1 Manchester City 8
MATIAS Vuoso and Chris Shuker helped themselves to hat-tricks as City gained their first win in this season's Manchester Senior Cup, romping to an 8-1 win over Bury.
But the real star of this Gigg Lane goal glut was rampaging Irish teenager Willo Flood.
Flood set-up goals for Argentinean striker Vuoso with superb crosses and was denied a deserved goal himself only by Seb Rowe's outstanding second half save. Vuoso's treble all came in the first half as Asa Hartford's team plundered six goals.
Shuker got the first two while Steve Redmond unluckily conceded an own goal against one of his former clubs. Rowe prevented the holders reaching double figures in the second period but couldn't prevent Shuker completing his hat-trick and Paul Ritchie heading in the eighth.
Bury kept plugging away and Ian Lawson scored from the spot after Mikkel Bischoff's handball for the final goal of the night.
