Duo to miss cup trip

INJURED duo Trevor Sinclair and Andy Cole will miss City's Carling Cup trip to Doncaster on Wednesday.

Cole tweaked his hamstring in training ahead of Sunday's defeat against Bolton, while Sinclair picked up a knee injury against the Trotters.

The early impressions are that Sinclair's injury is not as bad as first feared, which will be a huge relief to the player who spent seven months of last season on the sidelines with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

Otherwise, boss Stuart Pearce intends to field a strong side as City take the first steps on what they hope will be a journey to their first major trophy since 1976.

City (from): James, De Vlieger, Weaver, Mills, Onuoha, Dunne, Distin, Jordan, Sommeil, Thatcher, Reyna, Barton, Sun, Croft, Sibierski, Musampa, Hussein, Ireland, Vassell, Fowler.

Just get the best team possible out. Why rest players? We're halfway through september, the team doesn't participate in an European competition (please don't remind me), not all players are internationals, so why resting any? The club and fans are looking foreward to a good cuprun. To play as many games as possible means a very good season. If any player is not fully fit or needs a rest, SP will substitude him. But I hope he doesn't play any players just to give them a go.

Play 2 kids from: Ireland, Croft, BWP, Onuoha. Hussein has to play, just to have a look as do: Distin (needs fitness), Sibierski (needs games), Fowler (needs fitness and goals), Jordan (needs games) and probably De Vlieger or Weaves. I'd go with:

De Vlieger - Jihai, Distin, Onuoha, Jordan - Hussein, Barton, Sibierski, Croft - Fowler, Vassell.

Bench: Weaver, Ireland, BWP, Richards, Dunne.

Although, I wouldn't be very worried if he started with Ireland for Hussein, or Richards for Barton - we'd still batter them.

Id personally like to see Warrender given a game at right back!!! Captain of the reserves, must be worth a look. Also hope Hussein plays some part. Seems pointless bringing him in if he isnt going to be involved with the first team, especially as he seems to be doing well for the reserves.

Win, at all costs - Richards will not play because he not in the squad and BWP is injured. Also, Croft and Hussain won't probably start as both played the majority of the reserve game last night. Also, all these people who are crying out to play Hussain, have you seen him as I been to all the reserve home games this season and although he seems skillfull he not as good as people keep saying he is and Lee Croft is a miles better player and should be played ahead of him, although I fear that he might have had a fall-out with Pearcey as he's not been seen around the first team since the opening game.

SP will put out the team he feels best suits the opponents, so our opinion as fans means nothing in that respect. I expect to see Ireland maybe get at least half a game,and Onuha will probably play in place of Dunne,with Sinclair out I expect midfield to be Musampa,Barton,Ireland,Reyna(playing on right) or possibly one of Musampa or Ireland playing behind front 2.Like the rest of us,Sp probably see's this as our best chance of a trophy and qualification for Europe,si I would expect a strong line-up despite the lower league opposition.

I'm in the camp that thinks we don't need 100% full strength team for this game. We all know that the squad is thin so why not garner some crucial experience for some of the youngsters? The great news is that it's extremely difficult who to pick for a run out between Ireland (my first choice), Croft, Warrender, Hussein, Miller, etc. Sprinkle a couple around the squad and we should still be plenty safe.

i would like to see Weaver and also croft on the right cos if we dont start giving him a chance we might end up losing a quality player. as for the donny monkey where were all the so called fans when the rovers were struggerling in division 3 before there relegation to the conference? i used to show my support to the side then cos i felt sorry for them but now i hope the team goes down!

fowler should be back in the first 11. 1 goal from 6 games from vassel is hardly the start most are making it out to be. we need fowler in the line up as the result vs bolton showed!
