MANCHESTER City boss Stuart Pearce has been crowned August’s Barclays Manager of the Month.
Amazingly, it is the second time Pearce has scooped the award even though he only took over from Kevin Keegan in March.
Although Chelsea, Manchester United and Charlton still boast 100% records in the Premiership this term, 10 points from City’s opening four games have proved enough to land Pearce the personal honour, as well as taking his side into second spot ahead of the derby at Old Trafford.
After starting the campaign with a disappointing home draw with West Brom, City have since beaten Birmingham, Sunderland and Portsmouth, extending their current unbeaten run to 12 - their best in the top flight for almost three decades.
“The award reflects totally on how the team have done,” Pearce told BBC Radio Five Live.
“We have been behind in two of the games we have won and shown great character.
“Maybe I am a bit lucky because Chelsea have maximum points and haven’t conceded a goal yet and both Manchester United and Charlton have won all their games too - perhaps they like my face.
“But any achievements and acknowledgements are not taken lightly.
“When I took over I didn’t like the attitude ‘if it can go wrong it will go wrong at this club’ because it breeds negativity.
“We work hard for each other and while this award is an honour, no-one individual at this club is more important than any other.”

He really deserves it for a brilliant start, the side from what we have spent in the off season is going great guns, gives 100% commitment and now has the ability to play different styles to suit different teams.
Congrats Stuart. Now bring on the the 2nd team in Manchester

Does that mean we're jinxed now?
We have played 4 of the worst 5 teams.

Some credit goes to the board for once for appointing SP.
He has been a revelation and to be talked of as a future Enfland Manager so soon quite remarkable (In a David Coleman voice). His first big test is TODAY against United - Come on you blues we can do it
