PEARCE: Won't be panicked into signings

CITY boss Stuart Pearce is waiting on one final offer ahead of the transfer deadline.

But if that falls through, the Blues boss has backed his current squad to maintain their strongs start in the Barclays Premiership.

"We're waiting on an offer we put in on Thursday, we're waiting to hear about that today," Pearce told City's official website.

"Hopefully, that will go through, if it doesn't we'll run with what we've got.

"I've got confidence in the squad I've got. I've said it all summer, but we need extra bodies here.

"I spoke with the chairman on Sunday, and I said to them that if they're not the right people and I don't feel like I've done enough work on the players I won't bring them in. It's as simple as that."

Well said! I'm fed up of seeing expensive players signed on long term contracts, wallowing for years in the reserves. Clough, Sommeil etc. We only get one chance to spend the SWP money, lets not waste it.

Based on previous purchases over the last 5 years, I think SP is making a wise approach - I just hope that his secret bid comes to fruition today as we do need an extra bit of quality. He is his own man & we have got to have faith in his abilities - so far so good on his man management, tactics, enthusiasm & passion. The big test for the chairman & the board is how they support him in January - the club has now got the stability we have strived for so lets get behind the boys. Come on CITY!

If we don,t have any injuries to any of our key players CITY should be OK.
The squad might be a little light in some areas, but remember CITY do not have any extra games in Europe.
But I hope we get extended runs in the F A Cup and League Cup.
Come the Winter transfer window Stuart Pearce can go for someone he really wants and not just a player for the sake of it, S P is a wise man.

I think it's refreshing to have a manager not swayed by panic or fan pressure. The squad we have at the moment is thin, yet anyone at the Portsmouth match on Saturday would have clearly seen the team ethic and willingness to work for each other. Like many have said previously, there are no real 'stars' in the team, but the workrate and commitment is there for all to see. I'd like to see one or two new faces to add a little competition for places, especially in midfield, but I'm not overly concerned. There are too many panic-mongerers around, let's not worry, Pearce has made sound and reasoned decisions so far, long may it continue.

SP is not panicking. It has to be the right fit for City. That's leadership and that's why he is our Manager. Let's support SP. We have a manager in the vein of Mercer/Allison in our midst. Come on City!

Well, down from the possible 3 -4 players mentioned to a possible ONE. I'm glad we are not buying for buying sake but not happy that all that money generated may dissappear into Wardles backpocket by Jan06.

It is definately not worth bringing in any player just to add to the numbers,providing we don't have catalogue of injuries,we should cope ,young players like Richards and D'Laryea will be able stop gaps and may even blossom into first team players,providing we are in at least in mid table position by Christmas,the transfer fund should still be available to make more astute signings to push for top six finish.

What's happend to SPs comments that he wanted a least three in before the deadline?? now we seem to be waiting on one??? He has had the best part of a month to target players yet here we are 12 hrs from the deadline with a razor thin squad! Dont get carried away with our position we have played nobody yet -all I can see is a long hard season ahead

thats it ,its a cast iron guarantee no one is signing for us and the "we have one offer" statement is a cover up to give us some hope.i am not angry with sp or board for not signing anyone i am just disappointed from my own perspective as i would have liked a top notcher to sign to give us some spark and a little excitement.

i think sp is doing the right thing, keegan was too quick to pay big money 4 average players and look where that got us. the squad at the moment is a little light weight and if injuries are picked up especially to our strikers then we might struggle. I do however have confidence in the likes of BWP who could do a job if cole or vassell get injured. we also have the likes of sibierski who can play up front and players like sun ji hi who could fill in in defence or midfield if any injuries are ssustained in those areas. we also have alot of youth like croft onohua and jordan who have all played in the first team and done well. i dont think we need to hit the panic button yet , but hopefully we can get to january without too many problems. would still like to see one more signing b4 the window closes either creative midfielder or another forward, could be a busy day..........

Are we that bad, why can't we attract players.. do they realise,that all is not as it seems under the covers..SP we need a signing christ we need several,at the mo we've started quite well,but all these teams apart from brum will struggle, and we all know it. True the confidence the start has given the side is there for all to see, but are squad is the smallest in the prem it's numbers have been made up with kids are senior players are facing a long few months before we could get back into the transfer market. but if we can't attract players now while were second how the hell are we going to attract them when were slipping down the table.....
No panic SP says, i hope your right, already were 4thou down on are crowds of last year why..are best player sold and while we all can see the togetherness SP has got within the team we so need a major siging, The teams we consider are equals are all advancing, while were going backwards......If are financies are so bad then tell us stop feeding us crap, because 41thou will soon be 35thou.........time is not on are side....who ever he plays for he'd turn us down...

What a joke. "We need bodies" says Pearce, "Got an offer in for 1 player ". Bit of contradiction going on there.

Facts are that we are watching our best players get sold and not replacing any of them.

Only one way this is going to end up !!!

Wasn't Lescott recently linked with a B#5m move to Arsenal? Is another defender a priority unless we're not getting the full story on Sylvia? Could SP have been looking at Carl Cort? Oh well, at least the speculation will finally end at midnight and put us all out of our misery!

You are hearing from a very reliable source on the backroom staff here a City, that Mr. Pearce is waiting on the agreement of terms as the transfer fee has already been agreed, the player in question is Steed Malbranque of Fulham. Mr Pearce has gone back to him for a second time to try and sell the club better than he did last time, and as we are currently secind in the league the signs and the noises that Steed is making are very promising.
If all goes to plan he should be in acity shirt by 4pm this afternoon.

At last, some wise words from City fans content that Pearce won't follow Keegan by buying just for the sake of it. It is ironic, is it not, that today it is reported that B#3.5m second-rate deadbeat Keegan waster David Sommeil might be on his way out? An unnecessary buy at best, a panic buy at worst, he brought nothing to the table and has cost us millions. Wiekens and McCarthy were both far more accomplished players who were allowed to leave. It should be a cautionary lesson for all those fans desperate for SP to spend on transfer deadline day.

Man City should buy Swedish Martin Ericsson from Aab in Denmark.
He is a creative midfielder with sublime passing ability, creating a lot of chances. He is on of the most valued player in Denmark.
FC Copenhagen and Brondby have both offered but has been
rejected.
Hopefully he can be in City by January.
