CITY will step up their hunt for new players by launching a series of bids today, it has emerged.
Blues boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed that the club will be stepping up its pursuit of new players in earnest.
Although no targets have been confirmed, the club are still thought to be after Dean Ashton and Stelios Giannakopolous.
The club could also look to renew their interest in Crystal Palace forward Andy Johnson after the Eagles signed Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison.
"We're still busy making offers for players," Stuart Pearce told City's official website.
"We're hoping to get a couple in and we will work right up until the last minute of the deadline.
"We are going to put offers in today, hopefully they will be good enough to bring players to the club.
"If they're not, we'll move on and look for somebody else."
Who would you like to see City sign? Have your say.

I would hope we get a creative midfielder and a pacy forward too. I'm sure SP has his eyes on value-for-money players, so not worth mentioning names. This would give us a strong squad.

Don't fancy Ashton one bit- if there's one thing we've got it's young attacking prospects in BWP, Ishmael Miller and co.
Less than a week left to buy and still no sign of the midfield creativity we so badly need. It's nice to see Reyna and Joey B working well together so far, but without real spark or flair it could only be a matter of time til we get found out.
Despite the decent start, I'm still more than a little uneasy ahead of the derby, especially seeing as the scum seem to have it at least as together as we do.

None of our signings are actually going to set the world alight. Why buy players past their best. Fowler, Mcmanaman spring to mind. Now Cole and Vassell. The names banded about in the press are not going to improve us. If we lose Distin we will have probs at the back. Unfortuntaley another season of under-achievement I fear.

Jagileka is a better bet but not for more than B#4M tops. He's a decent box to box midfield player who can play at right back (particularly well) or centre back. He may need to bulk up a bit though.
