City eye Italian international - report

MANCHESTER City are interested in signing Italian striker Bernardo Corradi on loan, according to the player's agent.

The Italy international joined Valencia from Lazio last season, but is looking for a move away from the Mestalla after a difficult campaign last time around.

However, Pearce will struggle to land the forward, who is believed to prefer a move back to his homeland.

"Manchester City? Yes, they are interested," Moreno Roggi, Corradi's agent, told Sky Sports. "But the player prefers coming back to Italy."

He added: "The player is training with Valencia, but we are looking to find a solution soon."

If Pearce is successful in persuading Corradi to join the Blues, it would be his third striker signing following the capture of Andy Cole and Darius Vassell.

i would prefer an established premiership plare myself.
the lad has said he wants to return to italy so i cant see him being commited to city can you?
we want people who want to play for city not players that have there head somewhere else.

I think this could be a shrewd move if SP pulls it off. Corradi would add the option of strength and height to our forward line and with no transfer fee it still leaves up to B#8m to strengthen the midfield.

Proven quality and for a season long loan - yes. Anything but bloody Michael Brown - why do people like this guy? He's completely unproven at the highest level and 1-2m would be better in the bank than on him.

Yes. I'm hoping that BWP will shine this season and Andy Cole's not a player who's prone to injury. But Fowler and Vassell are, so apart from the relatively untried Karl Bermingham, it only leaves us with two 'first team' players who could almost guarantee to play most of the season. This Bernardo Corradi sounds good. If not, I'd like to see Robbie Keane at City. There's a press conference at Palace tomorrow about the status of Andy Johnson too. Need another striker? Yes. Need a creative midfielder? YES!

city should concentrate mainly on siging a midfielder, to strengthen the midfield, than signing another striker when they have fowler,vassell,cole and wright-phillips.

A player with international experience and a tall and powerfull player who could suit the english game. If on loan, why not, to buy..maybe not.

another striker is a ridiculous waste of money. it would result in the morale of the strikers already there decreasing, especially the already under preassure robbie fowler. WE havent got the money to spend and no-one wants another macca

We have missed a good striker for years now. Who knows Pearce might find a good combination with the strikers?

Please SP if there is any element of truth in this forget him. He has been a total and utter failure here in Valencia and would not last five minutes in the cut and thrust of English football. Now Pablo Aimar could be available and that really would be a coup!!

Succesful Premiership sides have at least 5 good strikers. We have 3 experienced performers in RF AC and DV plus the potential of BWP -- massive movement but no real aerial menace. I don't know this Corradi, but if he is an Italian international there must be a lot there. I also hear he is nearly 6'3" and a powerful player. That's the plus side. But on the minus side I am not aware of any other Italian speakers at the club. And this guy is looking to move home from Italy after a spell in Spain at Valencia. Maybe the culture shock of moving to Manchester would be too much for him. On balance I hope SP holds out for a better target man who comes with less negative baggage. Is there no American, Dutch, Australian or French speaker (most of Africa) that we can target?

If Stu is planning a major formation suprise; playing 4-2-4, the only right thing is to sign another forward.
If not, maybe a midfielder could be nice.
Then again - Corradi probaly ends up in M'boro anyway:)

Everytime we bring too many players for a couple of positions it seems to upset team spirit unless SP has got something up his sleave like Fowler going? I believe when we won the First Division breaking records and everything, we didn't have household names but the team itself played brilliant together, remember in the cup losing 1-0 to Newcastle and we also hammered Ipswich who were in the Prem. Then KK breaks the team up and we end up 16th next season, looked like team spirit to me. We ended the season well, just hope it continues without too many hiccups with too many new faces all at once.CTID.......

Of course we need to sign another striker. I think Cole will bang the goals in week in and week out but Fowler sounds like he's losing it a bit. Bad back ? Didn't Anelka have a bad back ? And Vassell ? Hmmm ... we're all waiting with baited breath but I'm not holding mine; that's not to say I'm a moaning pessimist; it just that we have to be realistic about Vassell's previous form ... which aint spectacular but I have faith in SP to make this guy into smthg special for City. Talking of strenthening the squad: we definitely need a new right back and central midfielder to replace Mills and Sibby, cos these didn't do anything near Prem level last year. They're both squad players at best. One has to wonder what has happened to the Mills that played for England; mind you; Fowler played for England once and so did James and so did Vassell and so did Cole. Do we have any players who CURRENTLY play for England ? Just a question ...

Interested player indeed. A very good header of the ball and strong. But his main wish to go back to Italy signals to me he might have problems settling in the English culture. If SP is looking for that sort of foreward, he might try and sign Charisteas from Ajax on a loan. Still waiting for a prominent creative midfieldplayer to sign for the club hopefully ...

Yes why not if he can come out on loan it would be good for the club but we still need another creative
midfield player if this is achived then i would want to say you would definately have to watch this city side this season.

This looks like another story with little substance - how many players round Europe will SP have made loan enquiries about only to be told he fancies a move home or whatever? This guy's agent wants to drum up interest so he says "oh yes, this club and that club want him but he wants to go home - come and get him". Boring!! It's just gone a bit quiet hasn't it?

Can't see this fella coming to City with his heart set on a return to Italy,and as previously stated by others, may not suit the English game,if he can't cope with La Liga (which is very similar to Italian Football in terms of pace and playing style) its more than likely he won't cope with pace of English Football. I would like to see City go for Keane if another striker,and what about Graveson at Real Madrid - would cost around B#2 million,Premiership experience,good at set-pieces and a defensive midfielder (only stumbling block maybe his wages,not sure what he is on at Real).Anyway, I trust SP to come up with a player no one would have thought of but who will be a hit for City!

I cant believe nobody's mentioned Damien Francis as a possible midfield signing? Cost around B#1m-B#1.5m is a box to box player who scores a good number of goals from midfield...exactly what we need now SWP is long gone...who else will score from midfield now? He will also add height and physical presence to the team? thoughts on this? if we miss out on corradi it may be worth taking a risk on Camara...pacy skillful forward...good squad player? anyone know much about Lovenkrands...heard a rumour linking us with him?
