NEW boss Stuart Pearce won't hesitate to introduce new training methods at Manchester City - no matter what sport they come from.
Since quitting the game, Pearce has spent his time gaining different qualifications and learning methods of training.
And the former England skipper said: "I am always open to new ideas. I have been on various courses during the last five years or so that have opened my mind to various new ideas."
"If I can get anything even from a different sport that can give us a helping hand I am open to that.
"Anything that we can get that will give us a cutting edge on the opposition then I am open to it. Players too can bring new ideas to training. I am more than happy for players to knock on my door and say that they saw someone do something that worked well.'
The manager feels that input from the players is also important.
He added on the club's website: "I am certainly not prepared to lead the football club in a dictatorial way. The players have got carte blanche to come in and give their opinions.
"If we find it works then fine, if we find it doesn't then we don't want a situation where a new idea benefits an individual but not the team.
"If any new idea benefits the collective then we are more than open to it."
City have no game this weekend due to the international fixtures and have to wait until the trip to Charlton on April 2 before their next game.
What do you think of Pearce's training ideas? Have your say.

Doesn't seem to be doing anything radical apart from'upping the tempo' of training (quote from Tuesday night at Chorlton Blues). When asked if they were trying to improve set play performance he said 'the takers do extra practice after training'. This worried me as the whole team need to be involved, as invariably it is the lack of movement in terms of confusing/hassling the defence and creating/running into space seems to be a big area of failure. One goal from set play all season, and that was a quick free kick by Anelka!
Nice to see training back on the agenda isn't it? Deep sea diving minus oxygen supply might improve Sommeil, Reyna, Sibs & Macca Stu!
I think he start with basics like how to be able to take a corner & free kick, little things like that, then worry about other stuff.
Heres a few ideas Stuart, get rid of the following useless, good for nothing, money grabbing excuse for footballers 1) Fowler 2) McMinimum 3) Reyna 4) Sibierski 5) Mills 6) Thatcher. This will pay off approx 5.2M in a year in wages. Give the youngsters a run for the last games of the season. You never know, you might even earn yourself an extension to your own contract.
It is not the training methods and what is done or said in training that concerns the fans and stakeholders so much as what we do on the park on matchday over 90 minutes when supposedly we put into practice some of things we have drilled over the week in training that matters.
One ot two goals from set pieces throughout the year says enough about our makeup on that front. Our penalty conversion is up to scratch but we do not get enough of them these days to hang our hat on any points as a result of successfully taking them in any one game and surely that will not change for the remainder of the year. I hope that the impending runs that West Brom , Palace and Southhampton embark upon will frighten us into believing that we are far from safe from the drop this year and when Southampton defeat Chelsea at St Marys on April 2 ( yes you heard it ) I just hope we have at least got a point from the Valley because we need 6 points from somewhere and all the training methods new , same or whatever will not count for jack if we do not get the 6 points and the likes of Dunne SWP and Distin etc as good as they have been will not be part of a side playing in the COCA COLA League in 2005. For us it is all about now and I am growing tired of the clap trap on this site and on our official site about a strong finish and a platform for next year etc. Southampton , WBA and Crystal Palace are planning for both Fulham and Man City to be sucked into a relegation scrap at the finish and it could be upon us as early as April 23. No points against Charlton, Liverpool and Fulham and we will be in the dog fight up to our ears to stay up make no mistake about it.
Yeah, but Heinz, it IS about training. Keegle's 5-a-sides did not cut the mustard. City will stay up.
your a cheery soul aren`t you Heinz
Anyone else you wnat out whilst you are at it Pierre - DJ had a rough game on Saturday time for him to go I think ..... not ! Robbie has been consistent since xmas - Mills and Thatcher along with Distin and Dunne looked extremly strong up to to Thatcher wanting to go to Fulham - now look a little tired more than anythign else (at least central defenders do) Ill reserve final judgemnet on Sib and Reyna for then do the season - hope they can achieve some consistency - macca - I wanted him to come good so bad - but like Woodgate at Madrid I dont think he will ever play a series of games again
Nothing to do with this story, but i see Reyna is off with the USA squad again. An absolute jokle, bearing in mind we've just got him fit again. What's the betting he comes back injured?
