Carlos Tevez could be hit in pocket once again for TV interview

Carlos Tevez on his way in to visit the City medical staff at Carrington

Carlos Tevez could face more disciplinary action by City after they look at the interview he gave to an Argentine TV station.

The Blues have not ruled out a third fine for their returning star on top of the £396,000 hit he took for refusing to resume his warm-up in Munich and the record £1.2million fine he got for flying home to Argentina without leave.

Tevez returned to Manchester yesterday, and he and his family were given a police escort through a media scrum at Ringway.

He turned up at the Blues’ Carrington training ground for a 70-minute meeting with a club doctor to determine his fitness ahead of drawing up a training programme, and is now set to be paid again following three months without wages.

He did not meet with manager Roberto Mancini, but is expected to do so today as he begins his fight for fitness, and will remain behind when the Blues fly out to Porto for Thursday night’s first leg of the Europa League tie.

But M.E.N. Sport understands that if he proves his fitness, and shows the right attitude, Mancini would be prepared to take him back into the first-team squad.

The club was unimpressed with his return, feeling Tevez has only come back after the move he wanted to AC Milan failed to materialise.

The Blues have written to Tevez every week to remind him of his contractual obligations, but have made no special moves to bring the player back – it was entirely his decision to return.

Carlos Tevez: I want to win the Manchester City fans back

Defender Joleon Lescott said on Twitter yesterday he was ‘excited’ to have Tevez back, as well as Yaya and Kolo Toure, who have returned from the African Nations Cup.

Tevez’s camp continue to make conciliatory noises, saying that the 48-minute interview he gave to Fox Sports Argentina also contained positives, and that some of the negatives had been taken out of context.

They point out that the much-quoted line that Mancini had “treated me like a dog” was a reference only to the manager’s request for him to warm up in Munich.

“It was a reference to a single point in the relationship between Carlos and Roberto Mancini, not talking about the whole breadth of the time they have spent together,” said Paul McCarthy, spokesman for Tevez’s adviser Kia Joorabchian, yesterday.

“It was the instance when Carlos was on the bench against Bayern Munich and he felt he was treated like a dog by being told to resume warming up when he felt he was warmed up.”

McCarthy also said that the player is now in a better frame of mind than he was after the Munich row with Mancini, and when he flew home to Argentina without leave in November.

“The bottom line is that he has moved on from the darkest days of late September and early October, and then November when he went back to Buenos Aires.

“He is in a completely different frame of mind, much calmer, and wants to get back to playing football.”

The general secretary of City’s supporters club, Kevin Parker, said many City fans were still against him playing for the Blues again, saying: “Most fans don’t want him around the place but it’s a difficult one as the club has no choice as he’s contracted.

Apologise

“After everything that happened in Munich, we all thought he would never play again.

“He needs to make two apologies – one to the manager and his team-mates.

“Then he needs to publicly apologise to the supporters whether it is a press conference or in the form of a statement.

“But I’ll still be surprised, even if Tevez apologises, if he ends up in the team or on the bench.”

McCarthy said  Tevez was aware of the fans’ anger, adding:  “He understands that the relationship between him and the City fans is fractured, for many beyond repair, I would say.

“But he wants to get back to playing and if he can play any small part in helping City win the title then perhaps some of the fans might feel slightly different than they do at the moment.

“It’s a big ‘if’ but that is what he wants.”

City are hoping to book a home tie at the Etihad Stadium against Burnley in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup when they take on Fulham at Hyde FC tonight (7pm).

Admission will be £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

So now City have to pay him to get fit when he should have been fit to start with. Nice one Carlos.

He obviously does not want to be here. It is purely an exercise to try and save his carreer.
If Mancini had treated him like a dog he would have taken him to the vet and had him put down.

Silly, silly man for saying those words on national TV before his return considering the climate around the situation. Not for the first time has he taken ill advised and/or wrong actions.

I can understand the Club wanting to fine him for this too but that could sour (and end) any relations and negotiations. He’s already done enough damage to himself, the Club and the situation – I fail to see how fining him for this will help anyone or anything.

Assess his fitness, asses if his return will disrupt the current team in any way and if all seems okay; play/use him and then just sell in the summer if he still wishes a move away (I’m sure he does).

In fact, if you take Barca out of the equation, we play the best football in Europe and no Tevez!

Dont care how good he is on the pitch. Will be a real shame the day he pulls on a City shirt again. We criticize Rooney all day for what he did. What Tevez did is 1000 times worse. He should never darken our door again

i have seen the interveiw a couple of times and things dont seem right, carlos said that when dzeko was brought off he looked at the tunnel and it was closed so he had to sit down next to mancini.now they keep showing footage of this and dzeko sits further away from mancini than tevez is so i think he got that wrong he may want to come cak and play for us again how much of that is down to him not getting his transfer to ac milan im not sure but he has a lot of work to do before i will welcome him back im not saying never but its not going to be easy for carlos

I have always said never boo a blue but this clown has pushed our club and fans too far.

Give Tevez a bowl of Win-a-lot.

Then put him with the kids.

This is all about meeting contractual obligations by both sides before City sue the a*se of Tevez.

I'm not sure about some of the fans we have, they go on about him like he his crap, now i didn't like what or the way he did what he did, but if the players and club are happy that he is back then i don't have a problem with that, Tevez may go in the summer then again he may stay, but one thing i do know is that he is a City player and i will back him while he is here, if he plays like he can do then thats good for us, if not then the manager will not play him.

Of course, he is in 'a better frame of mind' than in September, October, November and December, as there is no Real Madrid, Barca, AC & Inter Milan clogging his mind now.

As proved, there is actually no club who can afford him and take him away from City, and like everyone else, the bills needs to be paid.

So this PR exercise needed to be done quickly and effectively, no matter how humiliating it is for him !

Manchester City FC will always come first, and Business is Business, the title is our priority and if he is fit and can score, say 15 goals, in the remaining games and wins us the title, then we can possibly forgive his Mis-demeanours, as he's not the first and certainly won't be the last player to cause havoc and disruption at a club.

I think the stance of our Chairman and the message that the Club sent out, has been received loud and clear, all over the world. Manchester City FC will NOT be messed around with !

I'm sorry but Kevin Parker (who) doesn't speak for me or any other City fan that I know. C'mon Carlos prove your fitness and all the doubters on here wrong hope to see you in the blue shirt again soon helping us to win the league...

It's easy to forget the chain of events that has led the Tevez circus back to town.

1. Left City without permission in September with the clear intention of never coming back.

2. At the start of the transfer window his team negotiated personal terms with AC Milan even though Milan never came close to City's valuation

3. When the Milan deal faltered was shopped around but those personal terms and reputation came back to haunt him

4. Transfer window closes and his team realize Carlito isn't such a hot property anymore. Faced with the prospect of no football in the summer, and with his value decreasing (less commission for Kia) a return to City to get paid again seems the only option

5. His actions have insulted the manager, disrespected the fans and his team mates so what does he do ? He goes on Argentinian TV on the eve of his return, insults the manager, and shows no sign of remorse or guilt. He could have used the opportunity to apologize and pave the way for some sort of reconciliation.

Now he is back. We all know that if any team will meet his excessive demands, he'll be gone in the summer. He hasn't played since September, and even before that his performances in the 5 games he played a part in were underwhelming. If he get's back to match fitness he may be available for 2 months and he will start on the bench. Isn't that where all the trouble started in the first place ? Is it worth upsetting the dynamics of a team that are top of the table without him ? He is without doubt a hated figure in the EPL. Everybody knows exactly what his values are and we have a chance to set an example and show that loyalty and professionalism to our great club is more important than the possibility of a few goals from Carlito. Let's do it without him.

Would hate to see Tevez playing while Dzeko and Adam Johnson sit on the bench after they have worked so hard all season, they deserve prioity.

Boo the creep out ot Manchester at every game. Never let him forget what he's done - and who he did it to.

What really upset Mancini was, in the same interview, Tevez says SAF is the best manager he has ever played for.
