The German giants sent a delegation to watch the Swede score his third hat-trick in five games against Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday, taking his goal tally for the season to 17 in 15 appearances.
The 19-year-old nevertheless faces a tough task to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium given the presence of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko and possibly even the return of Carlos Tevez to manager Roberto Mancini's attacking ranks.
And Bayern's youth coach and scout Bjorn Andersson, quoted in De Telegraaf, said: "We are looking at him and a striker at Montpellier, (Olivier) Giroud, very closely."
Giroud has scored 21 goals in 27 appearances this season for Montpellier who sit second in Ligue 1, just a point behind big-spending leaders Paris St Germain.

Keep him bring him back let the lad play along side the big boys he.ll only get better ,,, now did,nt george the greek do brilliant in the dutch league
We must keep Giudetti and give him games next season
Just bring him home and let him play, end of............... He MUST be better than Dzeko
Get him back and give him a go next season.
Dont want to sound negative but i cant see him being any less effective than Dzeko.
Dzeko is a decent striker who has a decent scoring record this season but i think if he was a better footballer technically then it would make a massive difference.
This guy seems good to me and we would be foolish to let him leave without seeing what he can do.
It's a shame we can't recall him... I'd have him on the bench ahead of Tevez any day of the week!
You just do not sell up and coming players, the lad could be a star for us. But we have to give him a chance, come on, he is still a kid plenty of time to develop.
This lad's real class.
Oh yes, the future is BLUE!
We've got to make sure we give a chance at the Etihad to John before we sell him on, the experience he now has is 10 x that of a reserve league player, a great structure now in place for our fringe players. I have high hopes for him but the level of striker we have at the minute it will be tough...
This kid is incredible. He reminds me of the greatest striker to have ever played football. Marco Van Basten.
He has everything. He is also always stating in the media that he wants to return to City at the end of the season and make a name for himself.
Bring him home and watch him go.
Bayern have no chance even if we wanted to sell him...
john guidetti is doing what he went to feyenoord to do makeing the step up, he should start next season at city and take on the challenge. we need a motivated forth striker to press for his place more than an arogant superstar who thinks he is doing us a favour. get patrick to have a word with this olivier giroud as well, should get up rumminige's nose.
It would be a shame to let this great talent go the same way as Sturridge and others. If we can blend him into the squad next season while selling Tevez he'll save us a fortune, and present a significant step in our efforts towards compliance with UEFA's financial fair play diktat.
John Guidetti is doing very well at Feyenoord, scoring a lot of goals (and putting penalties away with the confidence of Balotelli). He loves the thrill of playing at home for a near 50.000 crowd, has a winning mentality and works his socks of. So nothing wrong with the attitude.
The best part imo is that he improved a lot since starting at feyenoord. He learns a lot from Roy MacKaay on an individual bases, and from the current manager at Feyenoord, Ronald Koeman. He adapted life in Holland easily and speaks English fluently. It all adds to him performing well.
If he continues to develop himself the way he has done over the last 6 months, he will be ready to challenge for a regular place in the City line-up next season. If he makes it is up to him as he's still pretty young of age.
Pity he can't play for us now, as I would have had him in our squad over Tevez any time of day, because the guy loves to succeed at City, a thing he mentioned in various interviews over here. Not the finished article, but a big talent and one that is developing quite spectacular.
yes guidetti as a future at manchester city, age is on his side
If you are good enough then you are opld enough, we need to keep him for next season in place of Tevez-remeber sturridge!!
I've seen nothing from this guy to suggest he's going to be a world beater, that league has a history of mediocre players bagging goals a plenty. The one impressive attribute he has shown is confidence and determination, he'll succeed because of this but won't reach the level to push our crop of strikers!
Not a natural athlete, resembles Micky Quin in stature, the quicker pace over here would be too much for him.
This player is class! City should get him back and put him in the PL squad for next season. Joe Hart grew up on a year long loan spell. Guidetti is doing the same and he is only 19!! I saw bits of him in the US and he looked pretty good to me then for a youngster on his first major tour when he was going to get game time.
I wouldn't sell them a virus springs to mind - given their attitude towards us as a club and being to the forefront of the financial fair play rules!!!!!
City are now i hope a club with the stature to dictate which players we want and keep and have the ability to move on the rest !!!!
Guidetti for me is a 'no brainer' he's young, produced by the club and will i believe become a full international.
City need to clear out once and for all the 'dead wood'
Michael Johnson (sorry guys we cannot carry passengers)
Kolo Toure
Alek Kolarov
Santa Cruz
Adebayor
Tevez
Wiess
Bridge
Thats 8 to start with and i believe if we replace them with 4 World class players we will have 3 keepers and 22 VERY VERY good players in a squad envied all over Europe.
ctid ctid
Does this count as the classy peeps at Bavarian Munich 'tapping up' ? UEFA likely to be interested ? I doubt it somehow. Eredivise has a history of average players bagging plenty. It's not proof that he's good enough yet for a starting slot. I'd be tempted to give him the number 4 slot next season and bank the tevez money when we manage to offload him.
hes got to be worth trying, we have 3 top class strikers, our money should be spent
now on a quality defender and a quality left back like Gareth Bale, we need youngsters putting the main team under pressure.
A word of caution. Guidetti plays for CITY next season gets 2 on his debt then one in each of his next 3 games. Then the goals dry up and he doesn't score for another 10 games. Yes as with Edin we know the knives will be out, get rid, he's a one game wonder, not good enough for the shirt etc. We've had it with Milner, Barry, Kolarov, Lescott, sometimes Johnson, this season deJong. And I've not mentioned the likes of Tevez, Adebayour, RSC, Bridge. When are some of these so called 'fans' going to learn ? it takes time to build a great team, and there will ALWAYS be periods where players struggle. Even the fabulous Silva hasn't looked quite the same these last dozen games. All the truely great sides learn how to win or not lose when not playing particularly well. City are well onto that path but not quite the finished article yet. So lets not get to critical when we have a poor game. Support instead of critcise, you may be surprised the effect it can have on the players. Everyone likes to be loved.
a loan spell at Bayern could only do him lots of good and be of value to us in the end. remember Joe Hart's season at Birmingham.
we must keep him, come the ned of the season the Tevez matter will be resolved.
I know the Dutch league is no Premier League but whenever I’ve seen him in action for the EDS (again, a VERY different level of football I know) he’s always looked liked a tenacious goal poacher and worth of a chance. How many of us would have liked him on the bench as an option in recent weeks?
Unless I’m wrong, I don’t think City gave him a last minute, 5-year deal for nothing…
He's got to be better than Dzeko.
