Manchester City enjoyed a triple title boost on New Year's Eve - without kicking a ball.
Premier League rivals Manchester United lost 3-2 to Blackburn while Aston Villa beat Chelsea 3-1.
High-flying Tottenham also dropped points after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Swansea.
The Blues take on Sunderland on Sunday (kick-off 3pm) with the chance to go three points clear.
What do you think? Have your say.

Well, I am particularly glad United lost because as I have said on this forum, I think they enjoyed a mysterious run of good fortune when QPR, Fulham and Wigan all decided to capitulate and not contest the points. It did not make sense. When a team actually plays against them, as with Blackburn (or Otelul Galati), their many weaknesses are exposed.
.....and those rags said all week they would be "top of the league". There is so much crying at Owed Trafford that New Year's Eve Celebrations are cancelled in Trafford due to flooding.
Who cares what United did. Just keep winning blues.
It's coming home It's coming home, to City it's coming home, thank you Lord!!!!!!
It won't mean a think if we don't beat the Mackems.
can I just chuckle for a moment...before pointing out how unimportant those results are if we dont win tomorrow.
Oops,......
CTID.....
If any extra incentive is needed !!!!!.....
hapy new year all fellow blues, looking forward to tomorrow being the first day of the year when we start pulling away.
Enjoy tonight and the start of 2012 cause its gonna be a big big year in our clubs history.
happy birthday mr taggart. you got exactly the present you deserve.
Great set of results, with Blackburn putting the icing on Fergie's cake.
It's now up to us to take full advantage!!!
Long way to go but we have to do it for ourselves, not rely on others, but todays results must give the team a lift now it's up to them.
A shot in the arm for Manchester, however, we are the masters of our own destiny, and it's now up to the lads to go out and play like we have been doing, barring the Chelsea performance, although in the first 25 minutes, we played football that Barca would have been proud of.
Pass them to death and then go for the jugular. 3-0 to Manchester.
The title is yours?
The title is yours!?
Can't even beat Blackburn at home!
Are you f'ing sure???
so citys draw at west brom was a disaster , now lets put a deserved home defeat to the bottom club in the division into perspective . No doubt the mass invasion of yooonited posters will abate for the next few weeks , its nearly 2012 and i cant stop, laughing at yooonited and their gloryhunting supporters , 6-1.
Its in our own hands, inspite of S'land gaining a massive new following from the south of England.
win tomorrow what a big boost to the team for the rest of the season that would be.with the rest of the chasing pack dropping points it takes the pressure off
Quite hilarious. Especially as this is around the time when Utd's squad shows how good it can be. Recent events have had City written off by the press after the draw at WBA & Utd virtually crowned as champions because of their run against, to be honest, weaker sides. The champions won't be crowned until towards the very end of the season, but I still it'll be City. Lets get a lead going again starting tomorrow.
Happy New Year to all the real City fans who come on here and not the fake negative haters.
LOVE IT Where are all those gobby rags that cant keep away, Cromley the cretin, Antique brain cells and the rest. Nice one Rovers
...and a very happy birthday to possibly the most charmless man ever to bully and bluster his way to pre-eminence...
Would you believe we are trying to lure you into a false sense of security?
No, I wouldn't either, we were crap.
Although everything went for us today unless we beat Sunderland today's results don't mean a thing - the Rags and the rest can go unbeaten for the rest of the season for all I care as long as we are one point in front of second place at the end.
what do you mean a chance MuEN?
We are the best fans in the world and all our undying love we have for the coolest club in British football is going to pay off keep on giving it fellow blues because it is our support that makes our players proud, happy and kean (pun intended) to play for us,remember the Poznan the players did at Wembley.
LOVE,LUCK AND HAPPINESS TO ALL BLUES NEW,YOUNG AND OLD.
No i have not been on the sherry (lager) i just get emotional at this time of year.
Just had a look on the dark side and the majority of them just have no respect for the game. Stating the fa cup as a mickey mouse cup am i wrong or is it the biggest domestic trophy in the world all teams go out for this cup guns blazing. Just goes to show how spoilt they have been over the years and now there kids aswell think they have the god given right to win everything every year. How they are going to come crashing down to earth in the next couple of years and it is going to hurt the badly. As my fellow blues know we are used to it but that generation of reds are not. I think it will be a close game tomorrow but we should edge it and a win on Tuesday will push us along nicely for the 1st week in January. I really hope we give them another footballing lesson next Sunday and put them right in their place again.
Happy new year blues and the Admin department enjoy your evening.
