QPR v Manchester City: Preview

Joselu and Stefan Savic in action on Wednesday in the Champions League. Savic is likely to replace the suspended Vincent Kompany
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany misses the Barclays Premier League trip to QPR as he serves a suspension for his sending off against Wolves.

Playmaker David Silva will be assessed after being substituted during the midweek Champions League win at Villarreal with a back injury.

Joleon Lescott is expected to return in place of Kompany with Stefan Savic retaining his spot. Owen Hargreaves will hope to be in contention after a minor calf injury but Carlos Tevez is likely to remain frozen out.

Ahead of the game boss Roberto Mancini was quick to warn his table-topping side about QPR's ability, the London side having beaten Chelsea, albeit with Andre Villa-Boas' team having nine-men.

Mancini said: "They are a different team at home, a very strong team at home and we need to play very well if we want to win there.

"We will try to attack but it's not all down to us - there is always another team, and we need to play very well.

"They also have some very good, experienced players and they beat Chelsea in their last home game, so they deserve respect and have made a very good start this season.

"Loftus Road is a tight, compact ground and it will be hard if we are not at our very best."

The game will also bring Mancini up against one of the game's more colourful characters in Rangers boss Neil Warnock for the first time.

Warnock has carved out his strong reputation in the divisions below the top flight but Mancini has respect for his achievements, which include seven promotions.

The Italian said: "All managers in England are characters - they are strong.

"I don't know Warnock very well because I have never met him but I have seen him on TV and he is a good manager."

Warnock will have to figure out a way to contain a City side who have not scored less than three goals in a league game since their 2-0 win over Everton on September 24.

Their goal tally already betters the amount they scored in the entire 2006-07 season under Stuart Pearce, when they hit the net just 29 times and finished four points above relegation in 14th.

Mancini said: "I am happy about the goals we have scored. I have good players and without good players it would be difficult to score and win."

QPR are struggling to fill their bench for the game.

Shaun Derry is out with a groin problem, Akos Buzsaky has an Achilles complaint, Rob Hulse is sidelined with a knee injury and DJ Campbell is missing to foot damage.

However, Kieron Dyer could return from his foot injury while Adel Taarabt may play despite suffering from a stomach complaint.

Without Silva (assuming he doesn't make it), and facing a Warnock outfit, I see tomorrow's game being a bit of a physical scrap.

But guess what? We win physical scraps these days!

A much tougher task than the Trafford Girls Team from a fortnight ago, but with the talent at our disposal, and rio the twit's younger and, amazingly, inferior brother, in a footballing sense, playing, we should have too much for them. I'll go 3-1 Manchester.

First things first, its great to see: 'Manchester City league from: WWWWW'.

On paper this should be an easy three points, but the likelihood is most teams that'll be in or around the relegation zone come the end of the season will 'park the bus' and try to hit us on the counter. This is something United have had to deal with over the years and no doubt it's something we'll have to contend with from now on. I expect a comfortable away win and Hart is due a clean sheet, so 4-0 is my prediction.

The Citizens will have too much for the Rs to handle. 2 or 3 nil to the Manc blues.

Fit or not I would rest Silva for this one! Newcastle and Napoli coming up will be tough. If we can't play without him now and again, we are not as good a team as the results depict.

There is nothing wrong in always aiming high; I'd go for 10 and if I only got 0-1 we still get the three points.

Tight little ground, just hope none our lads suffer from claustrophobia !!!

Nothing silly and we should be ok, we will miss VK but if we apply ourselves like we have been doing then we should win. I say 3-0 or 3-1. I would play Savic with JL.

A tough game; QPR will be well & truly up for this (Barton & SWP). Always difficult on QPR's tight pitch. With Komps out, we need our strongest full-backs in Richards & Clichy. I would personally rest YaYa Toure for this game and start with De Jong & Barry as the holding players. Unless injured, Silva needs to start & Milner on current form deserves a start too. It will be interesting to see how Savic shapes up.

Hart
Richards Savic Lescott Clichy
De Jong Barry
Milner Silva Nasri
Ageuro Balotelli

We'll win 3 - 0 once we break through their 10 man defense. Love to see us start playing before the first 20 mins are up. We seem to give other teams a chance until then. After match comments will be Barton saying how he is better than Messi.

we must rest david silva today, with joe (animal ) barton, after making a name for himself, its not worth risking,we must first win the physical battle today, i,d play, hart, richards, savic, lescott, cliche, yaya, barry, milner, dzeko, aguero and johnson, notice i,ve left out mario, i dont think its right sort off game for him, i.e barton will kick him to try and whinde him up, its not worth the risk for this game, we should have way to much firepower to deal with Q,P.R. the real mark jones.
